The Project Navigator palette will appear on screen (Fig. 1.3).

The Project Navigator includes four Tabs on this palette with the names: Project, Constructs,

Views, and Sheets, as shown in Fig. 1.3.

The Project tab lists the project data, levels and divisions of the project. The level definition

defines the floor to floor height and floor elevations, while divisions specify wings or horizontal

Set up Project Levels

Buildings are segmented into levels (or floors) in the vertical plane. When you create a project ,

you determine the number of levels, their floor-to-floor height, and their floor elevation.

By default, the first level is present in each new project. It has a floor elevation of Zero and

represent the ground floor.

You can change the elevation value of the first level, which is then used as the default elevation

for each new level you insert.

Your project, ModelHouse2190 will have four levels, the Basement, the Ground Floor, the site

conditions and the roof.

We will create a level for each of these.

In the Levels area of the Project tab (Fig. 1.3), click the Edit Levels icon . The Level panel will

open (Fig. 1.4)

We need to make some edits to its Name, Floor elevation, Floor to Floor Height and ID.

Click the Name column and edit the value to G.

Click the Floor Elevation column and edit the value to 600

Change the Floor to Floor Height to 3200.

Change the ID to 3.

Edit the Description to First floor .

At the top-right corner click the Add Level icon (Fig. 1.5)

Auto-Adjust Elevation box (at the

down-left corner ) is ON.

Change the Floor to Floor Height to

1500.

Change the ID to 4.

Edit the Description to Roof .

You need to add two more levels that

are bellow the first floor level, these are

the Site Area level and the Basement

level.

Turn off the Auto-Adjust Elevation

box (at the down-left corner ).

Create the Site Area Level

In the Name column, select G, right

click, and choose Add Level Below

You have created the four levels of the

project, as you see in the Levels

window (Fig. 1.4).

Click OK to accept the values and

dismiss the Levels worksheet.

A prompt will appear asking you to

"Regenerate all Project Views". Click

the Yes button.

This project has a small and simple

footprint that requires only a single

Division. All projects must have at

least one Division and by default this

single Division is named "1".

You don't need to create an other Division.

After all the Project Navigator of your project will be as you see in Fig. 1.4.

Create Constructs

Constructs are the main building blocks or base files of the building model. Construct is a drawing

(DWG) file.

A construct represent one unique portion of a building, such as a floor plan.

With the same procedure you will continue creating model space view drawings for Basement

Floor Plan, Site Area Plan, and Roof Plan, for your tutorial project ModelHouse 2190.

You will create these model space view drawings, by selecting from each view drawing the

Create the Sheets

Sheets are the final output of a building design. They are used to plot view drawings of your

building project.

You create sheets after you have created constructs for all parts of the building model along with

the necessary model views.

You then drag the views onto the sheets to create sheet views. Every new sheet is created in a

new sheet drawing.

All the changes you make to constructs, elements and views are reflected in sheets.

You will now create a sheet for the Basement.

In Project Navigator , click the sheets tab.

You will see the Sheet Set and its nested Subsets, similar to a folder tree, which are used to

organize drawing files and their Layout tabs for plotting (fig. 0.8a).

Select the Plans subset beneath the Architectural Subset.

Click the Add Sheet icon on the down-left corner.

On the New Sheet dialog box which will open (Fig.0.8b), for the Number Type A-101 and for the

Sheet title , type Basement Plan.
