• Communication with the Steering Committee, Finnish andforeign funding agencies, and collaborators

• Organising the meetings of the Committee and thesubcommittee for the Academy programme

• Organising the evaluation process

• Submitting the research results gained within the Academyprogramme (publications, patents, examinations etc.)

Communication during the Academy Programme

• Joint seminars promote collaboration between the research projects• Collaboration with essential Finnish as well as foreign research

programmes• Visits, visiting scholars• Disseminating the Finnish expertise to international research

programmes and research projects• Informing of the Academy programme and its results on the website

of the programme• Promoting the dialogue between researchers and end-users of

research results (knowledge broker)• Producing multi-disciplinary joint publications and popularized

information to end-users of knowledge and other target groups• e.g. reports, exhibitions, TV-programmes, social media

What is knowledge brokering?

Creating links and networks between producers and end-users of knowledge

- Bringing operators together or serving as an active link in between (researchers, politicians, businesses, organizations, other shareholders)

Active search and dialog between producers and end-users of knowledge

- Creates a possibility for new paths, since we do not live in a world of perfectdiffusion of information and understanding

Modifying knowledge to an end-user-friendly form

- Is it ideal to spread knowledge as it is or to add interpretations?

- Selectiveness/objectiveness?

- How much is it possible to modify knowledge?

Broker organization

Researchers End-users ofknowledge

Knowledge brokering at the Academy Programme

• visits, dialogs, annual seminars• identifying key projects and researchers• annual/mid reports

Acquiring information onresearch and researchers’’Know your programmes and

projects’’

• identifying target groups, persons and networks• working at the Steering Committee

Acquiring information onend-users of knowledge’’Who needs information?’’

• what kind of, in what form and when is knowledgeneeded?

• identifying and creating new tools, mechanisms, forums ja methods

• roles of the researcher, the university and theAcademy

Creating dialog andbrokering knowledge

’’Be visible, communicate andimpact: tell a story, draw a

picture’’
