The Independence Day celebration, the Star Spangled Classic, returns to Bishop Park this summer!Photos by Mike Wharton

Kids ages 10 and younger are invited to decorate their tricycles, bicycles, and other non-motorized modes of transportation in the spirit of the holiday and “parade” through Bishop Park on the walking paths.

The parade through the park kicks off the evening’s activities at 5:30, and a spectacular fireworks display, presented by Athens First Bank and Trust tops the evening off at dark. In between, families and friends can enjoy live music, food, games and contests..

ACC Leisure Services invites you to adopt an animal at Bear Hollow Zoo. Bear Hollow Zoo’s sponsorship program allows anyone the opportunity to help a zoo

resident of his or her choice. Donated funds provide enrichment, exhibit maintenance, and food and directly benefits the selected anima(s). There is a sponsorship level that fits every budget, best off all it is a great gift idea.

Choose from Gold, Silver, or Bronze Levels and then choose an animal. Will you “adopt” a bald eagle, barn owl, black bear, bobcat, whitetail deer, or one of the other zoo residents?

For more information about the Adopt an Animal program, call Bear Hollow Zoo at 706-613-3616 or visit www.athensclarkecounty.com/bearhollow
