    ACC405 Miracle Switch MK II

INTRODUCTION:Congratulations on your purchase of the MPI Miracle Switch ! This switch features a fail-safe design thatprovides extra redundancy to avoid crashes due to mechanical failures. The Miracle Switch consists ofan advanced electronic switch, a built-in voltage regulator, and a soft-mount Charge Switch.

This unique design is achieved by combining a solid-state electronic switch and a heavy-duty mechanicalswitch. The electronic switch controls the actual current flow while the mechanical switch controls theelectronic switch. To turn-on the electronic switch, the mechanical switch has to be set to the OPENposition. When the mechanical switch is CLOSED, the electronic switch will shut off the current flow. This fail-safe design provides extra redundancy to avoid crash due to mechanical failures of a regularswitch harness.

The Miracle Switch also has a built-in voltage regulator. This regulator allows you to use either 4-cell or5-cell Nicd or Nimh Rx battery pack or 2-cell Li-ion or Lipo battery pack. When a 4-cell pack is used, theregulator is bypassed. When a 5-cell NiXX pack or 2-cell Li pack is used, the regulator will be activatedautomatically to regulate the output to set voltage when the input voltage is 1V higher than set outputvoltage. When the input voltage is dropped below set voltage, the regulator will be bypassed to provide thehighest voltage available to the receiver and servos.

During normal operation, the switch functions like a regular switch. However, when a mechanical failuredoes occur the current will continue to flow through the electronic switch to ensure safe operation. Underthis circumstance, the mechanical switch can no longer turn off the power and the only way to turn it off isby disconnecting the Rx battery pack.

Since the mechanical switch has to be closed to turn off the electronic switch, a very small amount ofcurrent is consumed to achieve this function. The current drain at off position is no more than 0.05 ma. Ifyou do not plan to operate your model for more than 30 days, please disconnect the Rx battery pack toavoid total depletion of the Rx battery pack. Over discharge may harm battery packs.

  • KEY FEATURES:• Fail-safe design,• Soft-mount Charge Switch included,• Plug & Play design with universal connectors to fit Futaba, Hitec, JR, and Airtronics Z,• Dual HD AWG22 input/ouput connectors to double current capacity and provide redundancy,• Large heat sink for optimum performance,• Weight: 1.7oz• Input Range: 4.8V -12V.• Output is factory preset to 5.95V, fully adjustable between 5V and 6.5V,• Continuous Current: 10 Amp @ 7.4V input & 6V output at 75 deg ambient,• Max Current: 20 Amp 1 minutes @ 7.4V input & 6V output at 75 deg ambient,• Idle Current: 0.05 ma max,• Important Note: At 11.1V, current capacity drops significantly as input voltage increases.

OPERATION:The built-in regulator is a fixed-power device. This means the current capacity decreases as input voltageincreases or the output voltage decreases. To avoid the extra load to the unit, always keep the inputvoltage as close to the output voltage as possible. This will maximize current capacity and lower theoperating temperature. In other words, using a 2-cell Lipo/Li-ion pack to provide 6V output is a betterchoice than using a 3-cell pack.

There are two sets of RC connectors on the unit. It is not necessary to use both sets of connector if theload is low. Each set of connectors can carry 5 amps continuously. However, if the load is going to behigher, please use the second set of the connectors to spread the load. In order to do so, the battery packneeds a second output plug to connect to the Miracle Switch. The second output plug can be plugged toany spare channel on the receiver. If there is no spare channel, use a Y-harness to share the connectionwith any servo. If Dean’s Ultra plug is preferred, it can be attached to the input side by cutting both RCconnector and solder both sets of wires to the Dean’s plug.

During normal use, the heat sink will get warm or hot depending on the electrical load. This is normal. However, placing the regulator in a well-ventilated area will enhance its performance.

INSTALLATION:• Cut a hole in the side of the model to fit the Charge Switch. Mount the Charge Switch to the model with

the included mounting screws. When mounting the Charge Switch, make sure the included siliconepad is sandwiched in between the switch and the model. Do not over tighten the mounting screws.

    • Connect the Miracle Switch to the Charge Switch by connecting the two yellow connectors. Use aregular aileron extension if necessary. Caution! Polarity of the YELLOW plugs does NOT complywith the conventional arrangement. While regular extension can be used to relocate the swich, DoNOT connect them to battery pack, servo, or receiver. Otherwise severe damage will occur,

    • Connect the Miracle Switch to the receiver,• Attach the receiver battery to the Miracle Switch.• Warning! The switch housing should not be exposed directly to solvents, thread locker, harsh

cleaners, or gasoline. Exposure to these products will make the plastic brittle.
