JOB TITLE: Senior Fundraising Officer REPORTS TO: Fundraising Director ACCOUNTABLE FOR: Interns and volunteers as required LOCATION: London SALARY: £30,000 - £33,000 Description of Role: The Senior Fundraising Officer leads on the implementation and delivery of the events and community fundraising strategy in order to generate net income and to further grow the portfolio to become a dependable source of income for the charity. The post holder also manages selected corporate partnerships and relationships with celebrities, ambassadors and other key stakeholders and contributes to the development and implementation of strategies to cultivate these individuals. Specific Responsibilities: Managing high profile community and fundraising events, including an annual dinner and mass participation events, which are a major part of the organisations’ income. Developing, delivering and monitoring income and expenditure budgets for community fundraising and events, in consultation with the Fundraising Director. Developing and improving existing events formats and creating new innovative ones where necessary in all areas of this function, including producing feasibility documents and operational plans. Managing the fundraising elements and supporter relationships related to events and community fundraising, including recruiting supporters, motivating them to raise money, and building relationships to engage them in the work of the organisation. Ensuring all supporters are given the highest level of supporter care. Ensuring opportunities to engage with current donors and identify prospective donors are optimised in all aspects of events. Contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to cultivate donors, celebrities, ambassadors and other high profile individuals, by working collaboratively with relevant staff across the organisation. Working with the fundraising director to manage corporate partnerships.

Description of Role:

Working with the fundraising director to manage corporate partnerships. Securing intangible contributions such as the time and talents of individual contributors. Securing appropriate gifts in kind such as items for sale, auction or raffle. Branding all events within this function consistently – creating, developing, delivering consistent

visual and style message across print and web. Working with and managing external designers and print agencies as necessary. Producing and implementing marketing and PR strategies for this function, taking into account

the varied audiences and objectives of each aspect of the work. Marketing to supporters where appropriate and ensuring that the newsletter, website and social

media are used effectively. Representing the organisation in face-to-face meetings relating to the function, with key

individuals and other high profile supporters. Ensure a high standard of knowledge of Access Sport is communicated effectively through events. Securing and managing volunteer support required to facilitate events including specialist

activities and pro-bono work and / or recruitment and supervision of temporary staff employed for the production of specific events. Line management of these volunteers and temporary staff.

Remaining constantly aware of the market effectiveness of Access Sports events and community fundraising programmes - researching other charity and commercial events externally to ensure that the Access Sport’s programmes can continue to succeed.

Monitoring trends and common practices in the events and community fundraising industry. Attending events to represent Access Sport.

OTHER DUTIES:

Undertaking any other reasonable duties as required by the Fundraising Director.

Education and Training

Educated to a degree level or specialised fundraising training / event management training.

High level of IT literacy – knowledge of Word, Excel, email, websites, databased and the internet.

Member of the Institute of Fundraising

Achievements and Experience

At least 3 years’ experience in events fundraising / events management environment.

Experience of planning and delivering a gala event with multiple fundraising initiatives and an income budget of more than £70K.

Experience working in the area of community fundraising / mass participation events.

Experience of working with, recruiting, training and directing volunteers.

Experience of budgeting and planning within a fundraising environment.

Demonstrable in-depth knowledge of customer relations and managing relationships with individual donors.

Experience of managing relationships with celebrities and other high profile individuals.

Ability to work alone, to tight and multiple deadlines and under pressure.

Experience delivering successful mass participation events.

Experience managing corporate partnerships.

Experience of working with fundraising databases.

Knowledge of sport / youth development.
