Reading CollegeReading College's merger with Thames Valley University has been thecatalyst for a number of exciting changes that will benefit students formany years to come. One such change revolves around a 'major estatesdevelopment plan' for what is now known as The Reading Campus.

Remploy has played a significant role in the initial phase of this estates development plan,

supplying and installing quality accommodation furniture for a new hall of residence

containing 72 student bedrooms.

Remploy beat off strong competition for the contract, impressing Reading College's

Facilities Manager Andrew Hayward with the offer of a good price, attractive yet robust

products and fully project managed delivery and installation.

"When you go out to tender," says Andrew, "you have to make financial decisions but you

also must remember that cheapest isn't always the best. Remploy wasn't the cheapest but

there was a good balance between competitive prices and quality."

Each room has been equipped with a desk, bookcase, wardrobe, bedside cabinet and

cupboard finished in contemporary Maple MFC. A sturdy bed, swivel chair and pinboard

complete each unit. Nine bedrooms are designated for disabled students and Remploy's

expertise in this area has ensured these rooms are fully compliant with the new DDA

regulations.

The professional nature of the installation, from start to finish, has made a lasting

impression on Andrew Hayward: "If someone asked me for three names of furniture

companies to try, Remploy would be the first one to come into my mind."
