Custom ApplicationsWith its own design engineering and manu-facturing operations, ACE has the expertiseand experience to design and manufacturespecial board handling equipment to matchyour unique needs:•Boards of unique size/shape and weight:

modules can be made to accommodateboards up to 25-inches long x 20-inches wide

•Pallet handling: boats, trays, carriers•Functional combinations of modules•Process-defined requirements and

applications•Unique board routing/access control• Integration of third-party devices

Common ArchitectureAll ACE products share these highly functionalstructural elements:•Allen Bradley PLC•Fixed front rail•Adjustable transfer height• Interface mounting brackets•Built-in SMEMA communications interface•3 mm, 5 mm, or 1/4-inch edge clearance •Variable speed transfer drive motors•Emergency stop•Floor lock-down leveling pads•CE compliance

Transport Methods (all ESD-safe)Three transport methods are available to bestmeet your board handling needs:Edge Guide Belt: Typical method of transportbetween edge guided process equipment forprinted circuit boards up to 7 lbs.Edge Guide Roller Chain: Used in applicationswith heavier boards (up to 15 lbs.), final assem-bly pallets, boards after wave solder, and inmanual assembly applications.Flat Belt:Recommended in applications whereboard orientation is no longer a priority (forexample, after a reflow oven) or when boardsor assemblies have a unique size, shape,notch/cutout, or uneven weight distribution.

Width Adjust OptionsDepending on your changeover requirements, you may opt for one of the following width adjust types:Slide-Width Adjust: The rear rail is mounted on a bearing-supported slide mechanism that is manually adjusted by loosening tool-less thumb screws. Themost economical width adjust method used in systems with low to moderatewidth adjust change requirements.Hand Crank Width Adjust: The rear rail is connected to lead screws and is adjusted manually by a turn handle. Used in manufacturing environments withmoderate to moderately high changeover requirements.Programmable Width Adjust: The rear rail is connected to lead screws and a drive system for adjustment. A thumb wheel mounted to the front of themodule is used to manually enter the board width value, and the conveyor rearrail automatically drives to the new board dimension. Recommended in applications with high width adjust change requirements. Available on limitedmodules or on a request for quote basis.Follow Width Adjust: Sensors detect “flags” on adjacent machines and auto-matically adjust the rear rail to match the adjacent equipment’s width change. The rear rail is connected to lead screws and a drive system for adjustment.Recommended in applications requiring very high, fully automated changeover.

Typical Delivery TimesACE products can generally be delivered in the following time frames:2-4 weeks: Edge guide belt and roller chain conveyors, shuttle gates, and lift gates4-6 weeks: All other standard board handling modules6-10 weeks: Custom applications
