For theirs is a story that ennobles the human spirit; theirs is a story that provides the rationale, the very reason, for our pride in being Americans; theirs is a story that compels us to reach deep within to find and utilize the great potential of our human spirit. ese are the real heroes, these are the real idols and these are the real icons. ey gave up their dreams, their aspirations, and some, all their tomorrows so that we could inherit the bounty of liberty and freedom; Freedom is not free! Our Founding Fathers provided us the means by which we could live in freedom; our men and women throughout our history have fought to guarantee those freedoms. eirs is a story writ- ten in blood and watered with tears. Our men and women in the military today, are no less val- iant or dedicated. ey are on the front lines of the continuing and everlasting battle for liberty and freedom; without which there can be no “... pursuit of happiness.” Our Veterans, throughout our history have given meaning to “... The stories that these men and women tell are the stories of the triumph of the humanspirit. These are the men and women of a generation that lost their innocence andsaved the world.
