Ode to WW II Veterans

The stories that these men and women tell are the stories of the triumph of the humanspirit. These are the men and women of a generation that lost their innocence andsaved the world. Theirs is a story worth repeating. For theirs is a story that ennoblesthe human spirit; theirs is a story that provides the rationale, the very reason, for our

pride in being Americans; theirs is a story that compels us to reach deep within to find andutilize the great potential of our human spirit. These are the real heroes, these are the real idolsand these are the real icons. They gave up their dreams, their aspirations, and some, all theirtomorrows so that we could inherit the bounty of liberty and freedom; Freedom is not free! Our Founding Fathers provided us the means by which we could live in freedom; our men andwomen throughout our history have fought to guarantee those freedoms. Theirs is a story writ-ten in blood and watered with tears. Our men and women in the military today, are no less val-iant or dedicated. They are on the front lines of the continuing and everlasting battle for libertyand freedom; without which there can be no “... pursuit of happiness.” Our Veterans, throughoutour history have given meaning to “... Duty, Honor, Country.”©
