There must be an authorized requirement for the personal property.

You must not acquireexcess personal property with the intent to sell or trade for other assets.

How Much Do We Pay For Excess Personal Property? $$?

Excess personal property is FREE to Federal agencies (there are exceptions…)

Acquiring agency is required to pay: shipping and transportation

costs and maybe Packing; Loading; Dismantling costs (i.e. Systems Furniture)

How Much Do We Pay On Reimbursable Transfers?

Federal Agencies: Normally, the fair market value

Project Grantee: 25% of original A/C to US Treasury

DC Government or Government Corporations: 20% of original A/C for new and unused property Zero percent for all other property

Use the following methods to find out what excess personal property is available…

Search your agency’s internal property inventory system Electronically search & select excess personal property

on www.gsaxcess.gov Contact or submit want lists to your regional GSA Area

Property Officer or enter into gsaxcess.gov

Interested agency searches for and “freezes” property on GSAXcess

Selected property is allocated by GSA, APO

GSAXcess generates transfer order (SF122) which is faxed to the ordering agency to sign and fax back to GSA

GSA will approve/sign the transfer order and fax copy to holding and ordering agencies

Ordering agency’s responsibility to coordinate pick-up or delivery of property

Holding agency may release property to ordering agency’s authorized representative upon presentation of GSA signed SF122
