I am happy to note the release of the Newsletter volume 3 is an amalgamation of all the events held in the department and it plays an instrumental role in providing a greater exposure of the achievements accomplished by the students and the faculties. Thus, teachers‟ are the architects of a country. Consequently the true education should deepen our insight, widen our horizon and create a meaningful outlook. Equally the students are fortunate enough to have born in a free nation, with all the facilities to shape their career in such a way, that they should be part of a good and healthy society with progressive attitude towards divinity. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is always abuzz with a surplus of activities and has

become a dynamic venue where brilliant minds from all over the world converge and share their

vast reserves of knowledge and skills. It gives me immense pride to state that as a result of the

collective effort of the faculty, students and staff over the past few years ACS College of

Engineering, Bengaluru today ranks among the top twenty technical institutions of the Karnataka

State. I am hopeful of its acquiring greater heights in the years to come.

Solar Energy Society of India- Student Chapter

LECTURE 1 :

An invited special talk on ‘Solar Energy Startups ‘

by Dr.D.Kiran, CEO, MEDIDART Bengaluru on

25th August 2016 at Seminar Hall 1 from 9.00am

to 10.30am. During his talk, he highlighted the

startup potentials in the field of solar energy

business and employments opportunities in private

and government sector. Final year and Third year

students were attended and participated in the

interaction.

An invited special talk on ‘Opportunities in Solar Energy Sector ‘ by Er. Ajay Thomas CEO,

VATTASA Energy Pvt Ltd, Wayanad, Kerala on 25th August 2016 at Seminar from 2.30pm to

4.00pm. Final year and Third year students attended the workshop and participated in the

interaction. During his talk, he shared his experience turned as solar energy startups and the

possible support from government sector.

TECHNOMANIA 2k6 organized by Association of Royal Mechanical Engineers (SPARK) Mechanical Engineering Association (SPARK) TECHNOMANIA 2k6 Inaugurated By Mr

K.P.MURTHY, MEMBER SAE INDIA On 04th November 2016 with his chief guest address

on Cleaner Production Technologies. Mr Ragul Krishnan Joint Secretary of SPARK welcomed

all the dignitaries. DR.M.S.MURALI, PRINCIPAL AND PROF. RR ELANGOVAN, Vice

Principal has delivered presidential address. Mr Arjun Singh Pannu, Secretary SPARK has

delivered vote of thanks. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr SURESH P M. The various

technical events conducted and interdepartmental student’s participated. The office bearer of

SPARK had taken keen interest to organize this programme with the support of management,

principal, faculty and students.

OFFICE BEARERS OF SPARK 2016-2017 DST-NSTEDB Sponsored Two Week Faculty Development Programme

Department of Mechanical Engineering, ACSCE has organized a Two Week Faculty

Development Programme in Entrepreneurship from 16 to 30 January 2017 sponsored by the

Department of Science & Technology, Government of India; the programme had 23 participants

from all over the country. 25 speakers from reputed organization have handled the sessions.

Prof. V.B. Nanda Gopal, Chief Executive, JSS Academy of Technical Education (JSSATE),

Bengaluru in his inaugural address strained the need and significance of the training programme

to create awareness of entrepreneurial opportunities and supporting and sustaining

entrepreneurial behaviour among the students and also urged the participants to become more

entrepreneurial teachers in the present day situation. Exercise to break the mental as well as

physical blocks and build self-confidence amongst the participants. Assignments, to facilitate the

teachers to be more action oriented and focused after the programme were designed for the

participants who realized that the exercise had opened up their mind to come closer to each

other. Dr. M. Eswaramoorthy & Prof. Sunil Raja B. A., co-ordinated the programme. Besides in-

house faculties, guest faculties were also invited. During the programme period a day visit

arranged to AutoLiv Pvt. Ltd, Bengaluru where the participants interacted with successful

entrepreneurs.

Mr C. N. Seetharam I.A.S.(Rtd), Chief Executive Officer, RajaRajeswari Group of Institutions

has highlighted the need & importance of entrepreneurial education among the students and said

that to spread the message of entrepreneurship as one of the career option, teachers have a very

important role to play in his valedictory address as chief guest. He also thanked ACSCE for

initiating the effort to cater the need of the teachers and requested teachers to take the full

advantage of the programme. Er Karthi Easwaramoorthy, President and Co Founder

ticketgoose.com has shared his experience on establishment of ecommerce trade as entrepreneur.
