ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering of ACS College of Engineering Bengaluru, where

experienced faculties and highly motivated students - supported by a dedicated staffs - experience a unique

engineering education. The Department offers three levels academic programmes leading to Bachelor of

Engineering (B.E.), Master of Technology (M.Tech.)in Product Design & Manufacturing (2013-2014) , and

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees.

An extremely dynamic and large faculty and a well experienced support staffs, give the Department a breadth of

research focus and wide range of technical expertise. Our faculty members have a passion for teaching and an

avowed commitment to research and development. We are continually striving to improve the quality of our

programs by finding new ways of structuring our curriculum and exploring new delivery methods.

We provide our students opportunities to engage in experiments, design work, project work, industrial training,

seminars, and team work to enhance the learning process that is so vital for a holistic engineering education.

They develop skills of inquiring and exploring new ideas on their own. In essence, they are well prepared for the

life-long learning that is vital for an enriching career in engineering. Our students develop an ability to think, are

WORKSHOPS ORGANIZED

One day National workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights”.

Resource Persons: Mr. Pradeep,KSCST, Patent Information Center, IISC campus, Bangalore and His Team.

This One day National workshop on “Intellectual

Property Rights”,was organized by the

Department of Mechanical Engineering of ACS

College of Engineering on 17th November 2015.

The objective of this Workshop was to discuss

various forms of Intellectual Property Rights such

as Patents, Copyrights, Geographical Indications, Layout Designs, and Industrial Designs etc and

informed about the characteristics of all types of IPRs and their economic importance. He also

informed the advantages of availing patents and other form of IPRs. In his concluding remark, Mr.

Pradeep said that, though late, the regime of patenting has arrived in India and we should take full

advantage of the situation.

One day International workshop on “High Impact Factor Journal Preparation & Funding Research Proposal.

Resource Person: Dr. S Arunachalam, Senior Lecturer, School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering, University of East London, UK.

This One day International workshop on “, High

Impact Factor Journal Preparation & Funding

Research Proposal“was organized by the

Department of Mechanical Engineering of ACS

College of Engineering on 7stJanuary 2016.

The main focus of this workshop was particularly

on each and every section of the paper (from

abstract to conclusion) was explained with appropriate examples and guidelines in order to strategize

a high-quality paper for high impact journals. He pointed on common problems which most of the

researchers face while writing a research paper is how to write a research paper effectively or to

arrange your thoughts in chronological and logical order. Throughout the workshop, all audiences

were involved in high-level academic training to enhance research skills and knowledge.

Participants were informed on what and why it is important to do research, the current trend in

research and how to prepare a good research proposal to boost the chances in securing a research

grant either from government agencies or industries.

Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India (GoI) Sponsored Two Days National Workshop on Challenges and Opportunities on Renewable Energy Conversion Technologies.

The workshop was inaugurated with special address by Dr. H. Nagana Gouda, Director, and National

Centre for Solar Technology, Bangalore. He stressed the tapping importance of renewable energy sources on the present energy conservation point of at state and national level..

Dr. Nikil PG Senior Research Scientist (Solar), National Institute of Solar Energy, Gurgaon pointed out various opportunities and schemes for the development of renewable energy at national level by Ministry ofNew and Renewable Energy, Government of India of Workshop proposed vote of thanks.

ACS College of Engineering, organized a two days National Workshop on opportunities and Challenges on Renewable Energy Conversion Technologies during 25th and 26th Feb. 2016. The various challenges and opportunities in renewable energy conversion technologies were discussed and interacted by the different academic research experts. About sixty participants both external and internal were attended and gained the technical

knowledge in the renewable energy domain.

The Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp was conducted at ACS College of Engineering, Bengaluru in seminar hall for 3 days from 18th February to 20th February 2016, creates awareness among students about various facets of entrepreneurship while highlighting the merits of pursuing such a career option. In Entrepreneurship Awareness camp, about 70 students are exposed to different aspects of entrepreneurship, including opportunity guidance,

services offered by agencies of support system etc

VTU, PG Center,Mysuru delivered guest lecture on “Biodiesel development and characterization” B.E

(Mechanical) students on 1st October 2015 arranged by Prof. Bapugowda C M. No. of students=90.

[2] Dr.L.Boopathi, Principal from Erode Sengunthar Engineering College, Erode has delivered guest

lecture on “Environmental friendly composites and their applications” B.E (Mechanical) students on 31st

October 2015 arranged by Dr.M.Eswaramoorthy and Babugowda C M. No. of students=86.

[3] Er.MadevaNagaral, Design Engineer, HAL, Bangalore, has delivered guest lecture on “Design,

Selection of Materials & Processing: In Aerospace 2nd April 2016.
