Weekly Planner Meet the Team Bodyguards

Our 8 BodyGuards, activities Leader, supervisor and desk attendant are here to facilitate all of your fitness needs. From morning walks to BodySPIN MAX or The Body Stretch, to one to one personal training in the gym the team will assist, encourage, motivate and entertain you dur-ing the day whilst at night they can be found hosting tables in the restau-rant, enjoying the company of our guests and even tripping the light fan-dango on the clubhouse dance floor. Say hi if you see the team around the resort, especially if you need any help or assistance - they will be only too happy to oblige.

Communal Dining table

The communal dining table, located in Cariblue and the Pavilion Grill, is there for your convenience. If you wish to join the Body-guards hosting the evening our team are available in the Piano Bar from 7:30 pm for pre-dinner drinks.

Heart Rate Intensity Scale: Please note this heart rate intensity scale is simply a guide. All classes will provide options throughout:

A no or very low intensity workout

Low intensity class ideal for total beginners to cardio exercise

A medium intensity

Medium intensity with higher intensity options

High intensity workout

Please be advised that class times may be subject to change, therefore we recommend that you refer to the activities board located in the

Clubhouse on a daily basis for any changes or additional activities.

Group Exercise Class Type Our group exercise classes come under two groups; “Mind & Body” and “Fitness & Tone”.

Mind & Body includes any holistic class that will combine both physical exer-

cise and stretching with awareness of the mind. Generic benefits of theses classes are; decrease stress, increase flexibility plus improvement of abdominal core strength.

Fitness & Tone includes all our physical classes, many of these classes will be

choreographed to upbeat music and will require trainers/sneakers. The generic benefits of these classes will be improved cardiovascular system and stronger firmer muscles. All of our Fitness & Tone classes will provide a range of levels to suit your current fitness level.

Mind & Body Classes Mind & Body Yoga: A physical journey to stretch, strengthen and align the whole body, designed to connect body, mind and spirit. Key benefits are; focused mental state, improved energy, posture and flexibility. (Yoga takes many forms and styles, please see activities team for details on the specific class). (Intensity of class will vary with the type of Yoga, please ask for details)

Mind & Body – Pilates: A series of floor exercises that stabalise and strengthen the stomach, back and buttock muscles. Benefits include improved core strength, posture, co-ordination and more. Pilates

can be ideal in the aid of treating some injuries such as lower back fatigue.

Mind & Body - Tai Chi: A Chinese system of physical exercises designed especially for self-defense and meditation.

Young at Heart It‘s never too late to start your journey with yoga. A very gentle practice to begin to restore and maintain mobility in the joints, strength in the muscles, and peace to the mind.

Pranic Breath; Beautiful Body 40 minutes of flowing yoga poses, combined with 20 minutes of pranayama (breathing practices for cleansing the body and balancing the mind) and 10 minutes of complete and utter relaxation. The perfect treat for body, mind and spirit!

The Only Way is Upside Down Don‘t be afraid to turn your world on its head. Working gradually with a series of poses to help you build your confidence with inversions, concluding with the option of trying the King of Asana: head-stand.

Armed and Fabulous Build stabilization and flexibility in shoulders, arms and wrists. With a strong upper body you‘re better equipped for so many daily activities and likely to avoid repetitive stress injuries.

Rise and Spine A gentle but challenging practice to strengthen the often neglected muscles of the back and spine. Working through poses to ultimately find beauty in back bending.

Treatment Descriptions

Toby Maguire has been studying and practicing holistic medicine for more than twenty years. He has spent the last 12 years in South East Asia studying Nutrition, Massage, Su-Jok, Meditation Tai Chi and Qi Gong.

Chi Nei Tsang is abdominal massage that helps to clear and detoxify the inter-nal organs and relieve abdominal discomfort, IBS, gas, bloating and constipation.

Reiki is a Japanese treatment that works on the 7 Chakras or energy centers in the body, producing a deep feeling of relaxation that allows the body to heal itself and release negative emotions. Qi Gong - Practiced in China for over a thousand years, these eight gentle but powerful exercises help to stimulate your immune system, strengthen your internal organs and increases vitality.

Meditation and Life Coaching has many different benefits, as a tool for stress, calming the mind, healing the body, finding our path in life and for gaining insight into our very reason for living. Su-Jok uses acupuncture needles and small magnets to stimulate the body‘s natural immune system, alleviating pain from sciatica, muscle stiffness and respiratory conditions back, neck, knee, shoulder and joint pain.

Joseph Scarisbrick

Joseph Scarisbrick – is a graduate of the British School of Osteopathy, having being awarded a mas-ter of osteopathy degree. He has completed over 1000 hours of treatments in a busy London clinic, treating patients with a variety of different complaints. He has worked in hospitals, health centers, sports clinics, and in elderly care homes.

Joe‟s Osteopathic Treatments: Osteopathic assessment and treatment – A holistic approach of diagnosis and treatment that con-siders the whole patient to uncover causes of symptoms. Osteopathy involves assessment of general well being, posture, and the apparent health of skin and body tissues. Treatment can be gentle or firm as is appropriate for the individual. Methods of treatment include: joint manipulation, massage, inhibi-tion, stretches, muscle energy, and more. Osteopathy can help with many complaints such as: back pain, arthritic pain, headache, shoulder pain, elbow and wrist complaints, hip and knee problems, asthma and others. Cranio-sacral osteopthy – This method of treatment is concerned with the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the head and spine. CSF is the liquid that the brain ‗floats‘ in. Cranial osteopathy is considered a very effective method of relaxation and is a subtle and gentle type of treatment. This may be a good choice of treatment for you if you have a history of traumatic injury such as whiplash, frac-tures, or falls. Postural correction and gait analysis – Posture is not just the way that you stand and sit, it is also that way that you move. Many of us are guilty of slouching at a desk or always using the same shoulder to carry a heavy bag over, but the way in which we move and walk is rarely taken into consideration. Postural correction and gait analysis takes into account the way you move, and looks to find ways to change poor qualities to prevent the occurrence of pain.

Tennis

The tennis courts are open from 6:00am to 10:00pm. However, court reserva-

tions are required and can be arranged at Concierge before 8:00am on week-

days and 9:00am on weekends, or at the activities desk at any other time.

Tennis lessons are available to all without needing to sign up and are set at

introductory and intermediate levels. For the lesson times please see the time-

table that makes up the second half of this booklet.

Private tennis lessons

Additional half hour and one hour individual tennis lessons are available be-

tween 8:00am and 9:00am and 11:00am - 6:00pm Monday to Friday. On Sat-

urdays from 8:00am - 2:00 pm. For prices and more information including

booking please speak to the activities desk. (Booking must be at least 24 hours

in advance).

Please remember to wear Tennis attire including your Tennis Trainers at all

times. Jeans, cut-offs, Bermuda shorts, vests, bathing suits and bicycle shorts

are not suitable, nor are Jogging, ridged and black soled, boat or flat non-

supportive shoes (flip flops).

Golf lessons are available from our golf academy situated in Coubaril Val-ley where our PGA certified golf pros deliver these classes on a group ba-sis only. Please use our schedule for class times. Classes are available from Monday to Saturday. Classes are available to each guest as follows: Introductory Level: 1 lesson Elementary Level: 2 lessons Intermediate Level: 1 lesson (A golf handicap is needed for this

lesson)

Remember: only trainers or golf shoes, tailored shorts and tees or polo shirts are allowed. You can sign up for additional elementary and intermediate group lessons at just $20US per les-son.

Private Golf lessons We offer private coaching for driving or your short game (chipping, pitch-ing and putting) at Coubaril Valley either in the driving nets or on our 4 hole Par 3 course. ―Course Management‖ lessons are also available at the St Lucia Golf club where one of our pros will coach you through 9 or 18 holes. Golf Pros Our Golf Academy is run by our two Golf Pros Edwin - calm, collected, se-rene and elegant and Henix - effervescent, ever smiling and ever-green. Excellent teachers in their own right together they make a fantastic double act as their styles of delivery differ meaning that, under their tutelage, you can‘t fail to understand the message coming across. Both teach group classes, take one on one coaching sessions at Coubaril Valley and will even accompany you around St Lucia‘s golf course, just 5 minutes drive from the resort, for course management expertise.

Soft Adventure Tours

Our soft adventure programme offers you the opportunity to visit parts of St. Lucia that are pristine and as nature wanted them to be. Ask about any of our organised tours, designed so that you can enjoy the natural beauty of our island, at the activities desk. We provide you with all the equipment you need and your guide will be equipped with first-aid items, ropes and other necessary equipment to ensure your trip is as safe as it is breathtaking or fun. Explore the beauty of St. Lucia and take a Walk on the Wild side!

The West Coast Tour Travelling the spectacular Caribbean south coast, your 9am start will take its first breather at the Morne Fortune look-out point to take in the sights of the island‘s capital and the chance for a quick picture opportunity. Moving inland from there you will then witness the Is-land‘s largest banana plantation at the Roseau Valley - 1600 acres of land. Making your way through the rainforest area of Grande Bois you will emerge by the famed fishing village of Anse La Raye before head-ing further south along the coast until reaching your final destination, the original capital of St. Lucia - Soufriere. Home of the island‘s vol-cano, sulphur springs, waterfalls and botanical gardens this seemingly untouched town has a wealth of sites to visit. There you will have the option of bathing in the mineral baths before heading off for a well-earned local lunch. Your return trip to the north will be all along the coastal road and through the safe haven of Marigot Bay for a final photo stop.

Gros Piton Climb:

The Pitons are the stunning and famous landmark of St. Lucia falling within the Piton Management Area, recently declared a World Heritage Site and by Oprah Winfrey as one of the top five places to see before you leave this great place called earth. The Pitons are so called because they rise vertically out of the sea to a combined height of some 5000 feet and descend to a similar combined depth below sea level. The Twin Mountains, Gros and Petit Piton stand side by side on the island‘s west coast. Our tour ascends the majestic Gros Piton, the bigger of the two. At the summit you will revel in the magnificent, breath-taking views, and your soul will feel truly refreshed.

A superb day out for people of a high fitness level.

Extreme Mountain Biking Explore St. Lucia‘s breathtakingly beautiful north east coastline while you enjoy the challenge of an on and off road mountain biking experience. This offer is suited for experienced riders and can be tailored to suit individual desires. Please book at the activities in the Clubhouse or call ext.7809 for more infor-mation.

River Doree Rappel: The River Doree Rappel begins with a west coast drive to the south of the island. Once there, you will be given a thorough briefing on the abseil and all safety fac-tors involved. Then when you are ready, you will begin the rappel into a 120ft gorge and land feet first into a shallow river bed. After every-one has rappelled, you will then wade your way through the river and hike a moderate incline back to the vehicle. The

tour continues with a sumptuous lunch served at a local restaurant, followed by a visit to the diamond waterfalls and then back to the bodyholiday. The soft adventure tours are not included in the cost of your BodyHoli-day, however the price does include transport, lunch, drinks and any spe-cialised equipment. Private Sunset Boat Cruise

We can‘t think of a more personal private boat cruise than the Water sports sunset cruise taking you and your partner out from Cariblue Bay round Pigeon Island and into Rodney bay, then enjoying champagne, or rum punch as you watch the sun set. A magical, private and special trip ideally for two people.

Our dedicated team of PADI Instructors will tailor a dive programme suitable for your level of experience. Even though you may not be certified, we still offer you an opportunity to ‗Discover Scuba‘ without going through a full certification course. (The BodyHoliday Scuba Team)

Alternatively, you could become an Open Water PADI Certified Diver or PADI Scuba Diver by following an accred-ited course. As a Certified Diver, you can improve your skills by taking advantage of the PADI specialty courses including Advanced Open Wa-ter and Assistant PADI Instructor.

Night Dives:

We are lucky to have the coral reef just off shore at Cariblue beach so it only takes minutes to be on site where you can see sting-rays, crabs, eagle-rays, oc-topus, Spanish lobsters, squid, starfish and puffers just to name a few.

A whole new world comes to life under the water once the sun goes down so why not take the opportunity to experience it. With a host of different species of aquatic plants and animals to see it is a must for any budding dive or snorkel enthusiast, a fantastic experience and one all certified divers should en-joy.

Night time wonders can also include ―Bioluminescence‖ a reaction that occurs within certain types of plankton (microscopic sea creatures) that causes them to emit light when they are moved. This phenomenon can occur in both cold and warm water, at different times of the year. When bioluminescence is present, you can turn your light off and wave your arm through the water and see these flashes of light outlining your hand.

Visit our Scuba Department for details of our weekday dive sites. These range from the close proximity of Pigeon Island to the beauty and tranquility of the Piton marine reserve (pictured) just outside of Soufriere in the South of St Lucia. You can enjoy a sin-gle tank dive or, if you really want to make a day of it, a two tank dive taking in both reefs at Anse Cochon (Bay of Pigs) and the Pi-ton reserve. On your way to the southern dive sites you‘ll see the Caribbean coast line of the island with the grandiose houses and some of the smaller resorts peppered along the hillsides. A fantastic way to see the island. Every Friday the scuba department runs a snorkeling only trip to the Pitons. Leaving after breakfast and returning for lunch it is a great way to spend a morning off resort, see the sights, marvel at the Volcanic Pitons and snorkel above St Lucia‘s finest coral reef.

The BodyHoliday isn‘t just about improving the skills you already have but also about discovering new passions to fill your well earned time off. If your activity based leisure time has always been on land then this is the perfect place to take to the waves. We understand that our extensive list of water based activities will only serve to clog up your weekly planner (see back of booklet) further but for those of you looking to enjoy something new in the great outdoors then visiting the water sports hut should definitely be on the agenda. If taming mother nature to get the most out of your sheet sail is what you are looking for, then our windsurfing and sailing lessons would be the first step in the process. All sailing equipment are conveniently available upon request and at any time during oper-ating hours. However, our team must first assess your ability to go out alone. If a little adrenaline is more your style then you have waterskiing, wake boarding or even mono-skiing to first learn, and then perfect, during our daily sessions of each. Finally are our polar opposites—kayaking and tubing. Kayaking is a great way for one or two persons to look around Cariblue Bay and see the surrounds from the sea. You can glide or power around as is your want. Tubing on the other hand is an entirely different way to enjoy the Bay. With two of you each in a tube (a doughnut shaped inflatable) our

boat driver will pull you around the Bay at speed to set the heart racing and, more often than not, the vocal chords yelling. The BodyHoliday‘s version of a fairground ride is nothing but fun. One last thing to mention are our swimming lessons available daily and on request. If you are looking to learn how to swim or simply how to improve your ability in the water then our trained swimming coach can take you in the water, analyse your stroke and make the adjustments needed.
