Acts 8 1 And Saul was consenting unto his (Stephen's) death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, exceptexcept the apostles.

2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

In contrast to Saul (later to be PaulPaul) and his mad dog persecutionpersecution of the Christians,

There were good men who grievedwho grieved for Stephen and buriedburied him with love.

God just needs a few good mengood men who will dodo His Will.

Let usLet us be a part of all that God is doing.

Stephen's murder was the beginningbeginning of harsh and relentless persecutionpersecution against the church

in Jerusalem.

The devil and his minions thought to destroythought to destroy the churchchurch and the JesusJesus movement,

But GodBut God turned it around, and usedused the persecution to spread the Gospelspread the Gospel all over the world.

At this time the Apostles remainedApostles remained in Jerusalem, but many other disciplesother disciples of Jesus fledfled from the

persecutionpersecution of the unbelieving Jews.

Everywhere they wentwent, they talked about JesusJesus.

People believedbelieved and were baptizedbaptized.

ChurchesChurches were started and grew.

Some remained; some fled.Each did the Will of GodWill of God for hishis or herher life.

3 As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, enter-ing into every house, and haling (dragging off) men and women committed them to prison. 4

Therefore they that were scatteredscattered abroad went everywhereeverywhere preaching the Wordpreaching the Word.

God usesuses everything and turnsturns it for good.

Especially persecutionpersecution of His people.

Trust God enough to waitenough to wait on Him.
