Adaptations

• An adaptation is an inherited trait (characteristic passed on from parents) that increases an organism’s chance of survival in a particular environment

Types of adaptations

• Physical- External – on the outside of the body

(examples: fur, camouflage, paws, etc.)- Internal – on the inside of the body (gills in

fish, hollow bones in birds, xylem in plants)- Water transport in a plant- Bird evolution and adaptations
