City of Santa Clarita Trash and Recycling Service Guide Your Service Provider is Changing. What will my new service consist of? Waste Management will provide each residential customer a wheeled 96-gallon cart for trash (blue), recyclables (green) and, if needed, green waste (grey). Residential trash, green waste and recycling collection is provided once per week. Your Waste Management service comes with many benefits, which are listed on our website, home.wm.com/santa-clarita. Will my service day change? Yes. Beginning Monday, January 14, (or once your account is established) your new service day with Waste Management will be MONDAY. How do I get my Waste Management carts? Your 96-gallon trash and 96-gallon recycle Waste Management carts will be delivered to your curbside beginning Saturday, January 12. If you do not receive your carts by Monday, January 14, please contact us at (661) 259-2398. What do I do with my old containers? Republic Services will be retrieving existing trash and recycling carts on Tuesday, January 15. Please have your carts at the curb no later than 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday for retrieval. If carts are not retrieved by Thursday, January 17 please contact Republic Services directly to schedule a pick-up of your carts. They can be reached at 800-299-4898. How do I make changes to my service? Residential customers can contact Waste Management Customer Service at (661) 259-2398 after January 14 to make changes to their service. Cart Service Reminders 1. Place all waste and recycling in the appropriate container and close the lid. 2. Trash, green waste and recyclables leſt outside the cart will not be collected. 3. Roll carts into street and place them against the curb with the handles facing your home. Place carts at least three feet apart from other carts and objects. 4. Place your carts at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your service day. Emptied carts must be removed from curbside by 6:00 p.m. on the same day. Super Saver Program: Upon customer request, Waste Management will provide eligible customers with a 35-gallon “Super Saver” cart, in place of your 96- gallon cart. The “Super Saver” rate is 20 percent less than standard trash service. Customers who opt for this service will have the small “Super Saver” cart delivered and must return their larger trash cart. Ideal candidates for the “Super Saver” program only fill their current 96-gallon trash cart about 1/3 full on a weekly basis. Bulky Item Collection: Residential customers in the city are entitled to four free bulky item pick-ups, of no more than three items each, per year at no additional charge. Please contact Customer Service at least 48 hours in advance of your regular service day to schedule items for pick-up. Acceptable Bulky Items — furniture, appliances, electronic equipment, tree branches, scrap wood, sod and tires. Unacceptable Bulky Items — household hazardous waste (such as paint, oil and batteries), spas, pianos, camper shells, items requiring more than two persons to safely handle. Sharps Home Delivery:Waste Management is proud to offer the Sharps Home Delivery program to City of Santa Clarita residential customers. Residents can conveniently and responsibly dispose of needles, lancets, and other sharps from their own homes with Waste Management’s mail back containers in just three easy steps.

1. Call Customer Service at (661) 259-2398 to request a freecontainer, and a Waste Management representative will deliver it to your home.

2. Simply fill the container with Sharps.

3. Mail the container back for safe disposal by using the pre-paid postage label provided.Make sure you sign the form included in the side pocket of your kit.

Residents can receive one free Sharps Mail-Back container annually, with a second container available with a $5.00 co-pay. Additional containers are available for full price. Senior citizens can receive two containers for free annually (limit one at a time), with a third container available with a $5.00 co-pay. Additional containers are available for full price.

Manure Recycling:Recycling containers for City of Santa Clarita residential customers disposing of manure are available at no additional charge. Please contact Customer Service to request containers.

Special Services

Temporary Bin ServiceRemodeling the house? These jobs call for more than your average trash service. For smaller projects, you can order a temporary collection bin, which range in size from 1.5 to 6 cubic yards. Larger jobs may require the use of a temporary roll off container, which are available in sizes from 10 to 40 cubic yards. To order or learn more about Waste Management’s Temporary Bin Service, please contact Customer Service at (661) 259-2398. Check with the City of Santa Clarita to verify if a permit is required.

Bagster BagHaving an event? Cleaning out the garage? When a dumpster is too large and trash bags won’t cut it, this innovative solution is tough enough to hold your renovation or cleaning debris.

How does it work? 1. Buy the Bagster bag at your local home improvement store. It comes in a compact package, so it’s easy to carry and store. Buy as many as you need and fill them up when you’re ready.2. Fill your Bagster with up to 3,300 pounds of debris or waste. You don’t have to wait for a dumpster to be delivered or finish your project within a rental time period.3. Schedule your collection online or by phone. When you’re done, scheduling and paying

for a pick-up is quick and simple so you can get on to the next task. The average cost is $140 per bag, but varies by area.

Additional Disposal Options

Holiday Schedule Waste collection does not occur on the following holidays:

New Year’s Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day

When a holiday falls on a weekday, your collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. If a holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday, there will be no delays in your service and your pick-up day will remain unchanged.
