Addressing negative campaigns against child rights
Sofia, 29 April 2014
National Network for Children
The context
Child Protection Act approved in 2000
Children at risk vs children’s rights for all children
Lack of focus on prevention, family support & early intervention
Child protection departments are part of a
centralised structure
A new draft of a Children’s Act is introduced in 2010
Wide public consultation
Engagement and input of more than 100 CSOs The draft is not perfect but..
…..could be improved and is in the right direction!
The opposition:
We believe in the strong traditional family.
Nobody can touch the privacy of the family.
Children don’t have rights only parents do.
I can do what I want with my child!
The children should be disciplined with not too big stick – with little one!
We need home schooling because the public schools teach our children on pornography, sexuality, etc.
They take the children and give them to homosexual foster parents.
We are against sexual education in the schools!
The methods:
Rumors and articles mostly in social media but also press.
Contacts with politicians.
Support from the church.
To give you a sense, what it was about:
Save the children – from the European “values” More than 1500 aborted babies in the US are used for fuel in the hospitals The EU Parliament makes obligatory the 4 years old training in masturbation
The children are taught to incest in Norway. Pädophile im Bundestag und im EU Parlament - Die Grünen & Daniel Cohn- Bendit
Alliance Defending Freedom, USA http://alliancedefendingfreedom.org/ Alliance Defending Freedom has built alliances with thousands of Christian attorneys and hundreds of like-minded organizations to keep the door open for the spread of the Gospel. Homeschool Legal Defence Association (HSLDA), USA http://www.hslda.org/ To preserve and advance the fundamental, God-given, constitutional right of parents and others legally responsible for their children to direct their education. Quote and get inspired by Russian policies: anti gay legislation, restrictions about NGOs and measures in juvenile justice
Supported by:
Children’s participation – what is this?!
The results:
Lack of political will to proceed with the Act
Gaining more supporters..
