What is an Equality Impact Assessment?

It is a way checking how we are meeting the vision of being fair towards everyone.

It looks at six areas:• Race

•Gender

•Disability

• Age

• Religion

• Sexual preferences

It asks questions about the way services are delivered.

It is a toolkit to help us do things better

The law says we must do this.

It makes sure that the work we do does not make it harder for some groups to get the help they need.

What we did?Jackie Grove and Minakshee Patel met and went through the papers about how the Partnership Board works:

What is the aim of Learning Disability Partnership Board

How do people take part in the work of the Partnership Board?

We also looked at why some people do not take part, such as people who have much higher needs and people who are from other communities

What we found out?

There is only one person on the Partnership Board who is from a Black and Minority Ethnic community

There is no representation on the Partnership Board from people with much higher needs and who cannot talk for themselves

What are we going to do?Agree an Action Plan to change this

Work with New Ideas to increase the number of people from Black and Minority Ethnic communities and people with much higher needs to take part in the work of the Partnership Board.

Look for suitable meeting rooms to help people with much higher needs to take part.
