Spring Phonathon CU Students are eager to connect with you 

 Thank you to all of our alumni, friends and parents of currentstudents that supported the Student Fund during the FallPhonathon.  Our students had several great conversations withyou, traded memorable times at CU and shared new events andtraditions on campus.   

  We will host the Spring Phonathon from   WeMarch 21-April 14.will focus on raising support for the Cornerstone Student Fundalong with the Grand Rapids Theological Seminary Fund.These unrestricted funds help offset the cost of tuition for studentsthrough:

On Jan. 6, 2011, the CU men’s soccer team traveled to theDominican Republic for eight days and was able to serve othersand reflect the love of Christ by beginning construction on a kitchenand playing a couple matches against the regional teams.

Along with the 17 players and coaches, Chip Huber, dean ofstudent engagement, took part in this trip.  They partnered withUNTO, Inc, a West Michigan based mission group involved inlong-term ministry and community development work.  Theyworked with the team last year as well and helped build anexpansion on a school.  The soccer team was passionate about using their talents to sharethe gospel with the local Dominican communities. “This trip is something that we see as being an integral part of oursoccer program,” Huber wrote on his blog. “Sports is truly anincredible relational connection and ministry tool all across ourworld, and we are excited to be returning to a place in theDominican Republic where several of the team members went lastyear and we are able to use our hands, our resources and oursoccer abilities to serve and build relationships with a wonderfulcommunity of kids and adults in the DR.” The team returned with the challenge of, “living in our owncommunity and culture that God has placed us in as a Christian[and] is compassionate, communicates about the needs of othersnear and far, and serves out of a heart that is full because of whatGod has done in Jesus for us,” says Huber. The men’s soccer teamis one of many that are traveling around the world, learning fromother cultures and influencing them for Christ.
