    Adventure is OUT THERE!

    Trouble, Too. (Private)

It was a week from that fateful night and Alice was feeling amassive mix of tense emotions; the little kallo was unable tocontain himself as he absorbed her feelings. All he was, was a

tightly, chaotically flying blur of blue and white above her headwhizzing about and practically screaming the song OrangeCrush by REM.

Zed, seriously calm down, Alice laughed as she bounced onher heels and laughed. They were on the path just outside theWeyrd that lead towards the mountains, their peak shrouded inmist. What was up there? Treasure? Monies? Danger? The shortanswer was this, and simply this:

    Those mountains held adventure, heradventure.

Zed trumpeted loudly as he slammed into his best buddy in thewhole world, Sootkin."He will only calm if you calm, Alice. He reacts to you, as doeshe. The little chavo said, nose turned towards the mountain aswell, twitching nervously.Alice is sure that everything is here? He cannot remembered ifhe forgot something...

Being the most mature of the group (how sad) Sootkin hadtaken it upon himself to try and keep this rag-tag grouptogether and organized so if something was forgotten it wouldbe on his shoulders. Then that old-gadjo, no Tobias, would beangry at him for not preparing his young bond.Food? Bag of sleeping? Flint? Steel? Knife that is secret? Food?Lantern? Bag? Food? Water casket and water inside? Dishes?

Utensils? Uh... Uh... Extra monies? All things from room?

Alice rolled her eyes and patted the large bag slung over hershoulder. It was full to the brim with clothes, dish-things,cleaning things (like soap and face cloth and her tooth brush). On her back was her sleeping bag (or bag of sleeping, pfft)blanket and other bulky such items. And Roraldi has the food... Safely out of reach of his mouth.

The wyvern (without rabbit ears, mind as that hasnt happenedyet) was just behind Alice with a strange and awkward butingenious set up; well ingenious for a 12 year old with limitedknot tying powess. Granted the rig couldnt allow Roraldi to flyor be much use outside of a pack mule with it on it was nearlyconsidered functional. Besides Roraldi hadnt learned to fly yetand Alice was so good at taking it on and off it only took herabout ten minutes or so.

Its set up allowed Roraldi to carry things on his back and overhis legs but didnt really allow the wyvern to actually eat what

    he was carrying.

The rather beautiful (or handsome) wyvern looked thoroughlyannoyed but Alice smiled and patted his nose of which he

rubbed, albeit grudgingly, against her hand to return the love.

Youll get rewarded for this, Roraldi.

Zed sighed but was feeling pretty confident about this trip right

    now.Kallile is on her way?

Yes.Alice sent Adonis to Kallisto with the note? He remembers you

writing ther note and the kallo is not present..All done.

The old man, Tobias, he knows to come too?Alice fidgeted at the mention of Tobias but nodded slowly, Last

night in the bar Kallile told him the where and when...

Ever since that hug shed been sort of avoiding Tobias. His

reaction... Well she didnt think he liked her very muchanymore. Her assumption that he wasnt the hugging type hadbeen, cleary, very correct; maybe a little too correct. Hed

pushed her away and had been so stiff, obviously he didnt wantto give her the wrong idea that, you know hed be like... around

and stuff.Shrugging her shoulders she moved the load on her back around

trying to hide her nervous fidget.

Zed was a faedragon though and quickly u-turned to drop onAlices shoulder petting her ear and crooning tenderly. Shush,

its alright he is here for you, Alice. Thanks Zed... But lets not worry about it, Whatever what was

done was done. Obviously hugs were not to be used lightly heresince they could push people away. One thing Alice didnt need

was to push away people who tolerated her and were willing todo small things for her.

It was hard enough with the help she got, without it well... Shedidnt even want to know, you know?

OH!Sootkin stood up, looking around nervously.

Where is panthera? Rezzie? Where is she? He did not see herall day!

It had only been a few days since Alice had bonded to the

strange cat beast and Zed didnt like it one bit. Look, shecouldnt even keep to the schedule!

Shes not a group person... I think shes around. Im not tooworried, she can take care of herself, Alice said with a shrug.

Maybe she could learn to stand on her own with Rezzies help? All in all though the aurata didnt seem to be the type who had

much patience raising cubs though, not really a teacher at allbut she could be observed still and maybe that would help some

    what.

Where are they?the tzingane was looking towards the sky,Soon they will be late, from the time he would say they are

    already late.

(( All of my bonded but Mousse. XD; Rezzie is new and I dontreally know her character and she hasnt officially, officially

bonded to Alice quite yet but that thread is in the works. ))

With one final huffing hop, Kallile secured her large 'backpack'type get-up onto her shoulders. She (and Amala) had been

through the check list three times and everything was in order.Enough dried goods to last Kallile on her own months, but

shared in a group they would last maybe two weeks at the most.A large hunting knife, several changes of clothing, her

patchwork blanket she'd been constructing ever since her arrivalon Planet and into the Weyrd. Ropes, a short length of chain, a

few wickedly hooked items for climbing (or so she hoped)...allthere and ready to go.

The only thing missing now were her bonds.

"Come on come on! Where is everyone!" The werewolf

woman snarled as she paced in front of the Inn. She could hearAtila braying out his protest to being left behind in the stalls.

They needed to get moving, and soon. Beside her the Aurataangled her head, silently encouraging an ear rub or two.

Will come. Bond has called--all Bond-ties will pull. Patient.

    "But we're already late!"

From the corner of the Inn suddenly came a chorus of rumbling, and Amala flared her frill slightly. There was one rumble she did

not care for. Three other Panthera figures slipped through theshadows--lead by none other than her Tigris psycho--Naitouc.

Came see off. Owe me true fight. No die on trip--my right

only The Tigris purred with a nasty bite to his mental words.Kallile growled, but did little more. Getting into it with him right

now was not worth it. Follow to meet. See that otherssuitable. Not let die before I can kill.

Behind him, Rhett and Fatin slipped forward. The gypsy Pumal

rubbed flirtatiously past the Tigris and eyed Amala with acertain amount of malice. Tossing up her hands, Kallile turned

and started towards the path that Alice had requested them tomeet at. "Whatever--it doesn't matter who comes and who

doesn't just know there's no attacking the group and youhave to hunt for yourselves. Now let's go!"

    ~*~

The sight would have been quite the one to behold as Kallile

crested the small hill that lead out of the Weryd and into thewild. A lone woman with a giant pack (now perched upon by

Runi, who had managed not to be too terribly late and in turnmiss the scary words from Naitouc) and tailed by a near platoon

    of Panthera.

Seeing Alice she waved before casting a quick look down to herLord of the group. Dont' cause trouble, the look said, you'll

have your fair rematch when it's time. As she neared her

youngest traveling companion she smiled a little awkwardly. Shecould feel the bonds to all four cats in her head vibrating with

tension. They were not pack animals and the close proximityhad them all on edge. Especially around the sickly smirking

    Naitouc.

At the sight of Zed, Runi twittered excitedly and nearly twitched

herself off the top of the bag. Whoa! Bad idea where there werefour waiting mouths below! Zed! R'member! 8D She chirpedout before taking a scrambling jump to the top of Kallile's head.

Oh, what fun this would be! Someone she already knew!

"Glad to see I'm not that late. Punctuality never was mystrong suit." Kalile said with a grin as she made strange faces

while Runi tried to find a comfortable holding position on herBond's head. Sweeping a hand behind her to the Panthera, she

gave a sheepish grin. "Don't worry--they're not all stayingwith the group. Just Amala."

As if on cue the smallest of the group slipped forward and gave

Alice a deep purr of greeting, dark chocolate fur off-set nicely

by her rose-colored eyes and frill. Hear had bad time withsister-kin. No need fear me. No like fight. She purred out in amotherly tone. There was a harsh chuckle--one belonging to

    Naitouc.

Be wise fear all. Death-cats proud. Strong. Can proveanytime. He paused, flickering his oily black tail behind him as

he sat regally before Alice--that twisted smile still on his face.Been told be nice. Only watch...for now. And Kallile took

    those words to heart.

"That's Naitouc...best just to keep clear of him. He'llprobably get bored mid-journey and wander off anyway.

Or not go at all." Those words came out strong and pointedlyas the woman's two-toned eyes flickered down to the lord.

"Besides that...you've met Rhett and Fatin. They're part ofthe hunting team. So...where's everyone else? No word

    from them yet?

In a patch of the Northern Plains, a campfire dwindled. Tobiasremoved the saucepan from over the struggling flame andflipped the omelet it contained onto his palm, sticking a side inhis mouth and chewing with gusto. He was facing an assortmentof animals, not all of whom were happy about the topic of themeeting.

Cromwell, youre in charge. Zeke, youre second incommand. Watch over Sai and Lars, they need you. The

Kralis Tzingane nodded his sand-colored head, the dogtagsaround his neck reflecting the dying embers before him. He whowas lackadaisical about much else understood the importance of

Bondshe would allow no harm to come to the tiny CenterGryphon and the Jelly Shafa. Zeke, a Chavo, seemed

overwhelmed with pride at being given this same responsibility, and sat straight up before raising a paw in a salute. Tobias

couldnt withhold a chuckle; ever since he had taught the foxthat move, hed been pulling it out whenever an occasion might

    call for it.

Clara and Brutus are shackin up at the inn, so we dontneed to worry about em. Which brings me to you two.

The soldiers voice dropped in volume as he perceived thelargest forms present, looming over him and the rest of the

gathering. One was a scaly beast of oranges and yellows, wielding a mouthful of serrated teeth and a bad attitude. The

other was furred and massive, seven feet tall at the shoulderand not done growing, a bastion of strength and cunning that

Tobias could not afford to leave with his more vulnerableBonded.

Youre coming with me. Its not only because youre

sound hunters, but mostly because I cant t rust you

enough to leave you behind. The Havoc Wyvern, Blackjack, projected an image to Tobiass mind of him winging his wayafter the man in any case. He was his first Bondedhe had

seniority. There was no way hed be relinquished to the care ofa Tzingane when hed eaten several of them as little more than

    a light snack before today.

Im flattered. Thank you for allowing us to join you.Benedict, the Sanglyst Vargul, rumbled his approval. It aint

for my benefit, sunshine. Its for theirs. With a sneerTobias gestured to the remaining four creatures.

Lets move out. Lars squeaked in protest but could do little

more than bury himself in Sais neck feathers. Even withBlackjack and Benedict gone, he was missing his main source of

    comfort: hanging onto Tobiass shirt-collar.

    - - - -

The trio arrived at the mountain pass a few minutes after Kallileand her troupe. It was no great task to get there from the

plains: though Jack was too small to carry the weight of a full-grown man, Benedict was larger than any earthy horse. Astride

the Vargul, Tobias had experienced flying for the first time, fingers clutching at the crimson fur in initial fear that quickly

transitioned to euphoria. When they landed, he remained onBenedicts back, reluctant to banish the weightless feeling. Also,

he looked pretty damn cool up there.

Morning, ladies. He smiled at Kallile and Alice. The lattersrecent coldness had not been lost on him, nor had its cause. His

guilt at not returning her hug reared its head anew when he wasin her company. But there was nothing to be done about it now.

If he had lost her trust and affection, so be it. He was better offwithout such a spot of weakness anyway.

At least, thats what he told himself.

Its a genuine pleasure to meet both of you in person. My

Bonded has mentioned you enough that I think youvemade quite the impression. Benedict awarded them with his

most winning smile, fanged though it was. Blackjack only eyedthe girls in mute appraisal, his tail lashing behind him. He paid

more attention to Roraldi than the humans. That puny Agony

    6/21

had better recognize that a Havoc was in da house.

I know I said that it would be just Jack, but I couldntleave this lug around the smaller ones. So hes coming

too, and hell behave, if he knows whats good for him. Itwas as empty a threat as they come, and both he and the

Sanglyst knew it. What could Tobias, a human on the wrong side

of 40, do to a Vargul Lord? The only control he held over theblood-sucking fiend was the strength of the Bond that tied themtogether. So far, that had been enough. But their tenuous

relationship worried the man, as did Benedicts knowledge thatthese girls mattered to him. Hed be keeping one eye on his

    clever friend at all times.

Hes as good of a pack mule as he is a hunter, so if youever get tired, just throw him your pack. Tobiass gear was

already hung around the Varguls neck with a length of rope. Heassumed that he could hold much more than that.

Now that introductions had been given, he could see who else

was coming to the party. Kallile had a Faedragon andno less

than four Panthera. How youve managed to bond to four ofthem devil-cats is beyond me. I havent even seen one.FORESHADOWING. o:

Alice had Zed, her Faedragon, and Sootkin/Furball, her Chavo,

in addition to her Agony Wyvern. Tobias avoided catching thegirls eye. He was hoping to get a moment alone with Kallile

sometime on this hike to talk about their presentsituation.Until then, he was awkward and stern, not yet knowing how to

reassure someone whom he considered a dangerousvulnerability.

Kallisto was doing what she did best. Lazing in a patch of sun,

suspended many feet above the ground, balancing precariouslyon a tree branch. Her prehensile tail wasn't just for decorationyou know. It was wrapped securely around the branch, keepingher steady. It had been seven suns a week- and if everythinghad gone as planned, Adonis could come at anything to fetchher. Still, she was calm. The feline was planning out the routeout in her head. Below her, on the ground, Erebus was just asrelaxed as his Bonded, sprawled along the forest floor, four eyesclosed. The Pumal was pretty laid back, he wandered like aghost around Planet unless he was called. He didnt protestmuch either, when he was. Kallisto was his Bonded afterall.not to mention shed whack him with a stick if he did.She hadnt yetbut if she hit Kaelwhat would stop her fromhitting him? It didnt matter though. He liked his Bonded. She

    smelled nice.

As if sent by the PIF itself, Adonis landed with a plop on thesame branch as Kallisto, flopping just inches before her nose.

He looked tired, but sent out waves of pride and joy. He hadfound her~! Not to mention missed her terribly. Things had

been so chaotic in town emotion-wise he had almost turned intoa nervous wreck. He had really taken for granted the close

proximity of Kallistos serenity. Adventure! He whistled happily

albeit tiredly. The Tigress wasnt one for being all touchy-feelybut the Kallos efforts shouldve amounted to some reward.Using the pad of her thumb, she stroked the creatures head, fur

brushing along his neck, releasing the creature from the hisburden. A note. Well done. Adonis was immensely pleased

with the praise and petting. Rest, Adonis. She had beenlaying face down on the branch, but now she lifted herself,

crouching. She gently gripped the Faedragon around his middleand placed him on her shoulder. He used his little claws to cling

to the fabric of her top, rubbing his snout against her furredshoulder. Kallisto smelled nice.

Erebus had already stood, dark blue eyes already lifted to watch

his Bonded. Leaving now? He inquired, shaking out his fur.She looked at the note, eyes flickering across the letters.Hmmm. Too bad the cat-woman couldnt read. No matter. She

would just have to follow the trail Adonis left behind with theirnoses. Kallisto dropped from the tree, landing near-silently on

the ground, using all four limbs. Yes. She answered, tuggingon the Bond between her and Kael. Kallisto took off, and Erebus

followed, both felines tracking Adonis scent back to thedesignated meeting place. When the scent of the group became

stronger, she switched her four-legged pose to the more sociallyacceptable two-legged one. Adonis, recharged after his little

rest, sat up straighter, silver-blue eyes flitting up. Her couldfeel all their emotions writhing around. The only reason he

wasnt zooming around like Zed was because of his closeproximity to Kallisto, her calm state helping to dilute their

excitement. But Kallisto would be lying if she said she didntfeel some level of excitement. It crackled through her veins like

adrenaline. The group finally came into view, and Kallisto joinedthem just as Tobias mentioned not ever seeing a Wild Panthera.

Hmm they certainly are elusive. Kallisto came up frombehind them, arms crossed passively across her stomach.

Sorry if Im late. It would appear Adonis side-trackedmany times on his way over. His scent trail had led into

town, where he had shown great feats of chivalry, no doubt. TheKallo wasnt paying attention. He was too busy batting his wings

and whistling his greetings to Runi and Zed. The Tigress herselfdidnt look much different. The only new thing about her was

that she acquired some new, shiny things. On her hip, she worea long, jagged-looking knife, the blade longer than her hand.

Five sharp, silver throwing knives were strapped to the outsideof her right thigh. They were mostly meant to injure, though a

    well-aimed throw could kill.

Erebus stalked past then, seating himself just an arms-length

away from his Bonded, dark eyes wandering around thegathering, though he didnt seem to particularly interested.

With the way he moved, so smoothly and elegantly, tail tipraised off the ground, one would think this Panthera a female.

His bronze fur glowed dully in the light, masking the leanmusculature underneath. This is Erebus. She introduced the

pretty feline, though she hoped no one would make the mistake

  • 8/9/2019 Adventure is OUT THERE! Trouble, Too. (Private)

    8/21

of using pretty and Erebus in the same sentence. He wasrather touchy about his looks. The group of Panthera caught

his eye for a moment, if only just to wonder why they were in agroup, seeing as most Panthera were solitary. Did this wolf-

female Bond them all? Hmmm. Whatever. The Pumals eyescontinued wandering. Kallisto continued. And my other

    compan- Present.

There was a rush of wind and then, quite suddenly, there was a

40 foot long Forest Dragon hovering behind the Tigress, serpentine body coiling through the air effortlessly. He voice,

while deep, was not gravely or grating. His eyes had no white,or pupils. They were simply golden expanses that seemed

almost sightless if it were for the fact he seemed to be able tosee right into you. His writhing body was coloured a dark forest

green, lighter green patterning his scales like veins. He loweredhis large head so i t was next to Kallisto, on the opposite side of

Erebus, pressing lightly against her side. Kallisto idly rested herhand between the Dragons ivory horns, atop the beginning of

the strip of dark blue fur that ran along his spine. And this is

Kael. The Dragon turned his gaze to each and every beingsbefore him, both Shinies and (half) Humans alike. Hey, all.Adonis twittered quite happily, fluttering up to land atop the

larger creatures head. Brother! The Kallo had taken a intenseliking to the Dragon, and whenever he wasnt with Kallisto, he

was with Kael. Kallisto didnt know when Adonis started callingKael Brother but the term of endearment didnt harm anyone

so she hadnt said anything to him since.

Kael will fly above us and Adonis will stay with him. He

can carry things and spot coming dangers or obstacles ifneeded. He will help navigate the mountains once we get

there. And, if there are no objections, Kael will stay withus at night. Kallisto had brought him along for the sole

purpose of having an eagle eye view of the mountains. It wouldmake the journey much easier if he could spot it from the sky.

Anything else youd like me to do? Your Royal Majesty?Kaels tease was accompanied by a soft nudge. Although she

knew he meant it in fun, the term majesty didnt sit well withher, a bitterness on her tongue. It was the same when anyone

called her by name. A small but sharp pain. Kael shook hishead, his whiskers one on each side- drifting along with him.

Have I ever told you that you smell lovely? Kallisto nearlyrolled her green-gold eyes. Pheromones, Kael. She was

beginning to think her Shinies only listened to her because herbody oozed more pheromones from her pores than sweat.

blue-grey tail lashing back and forth in i rritation. Late. Theywere late.

Zed curled up on Alices head, his attention on the mountains

while Alice watched the road. Not many people travelled downhere so most likely the only ones coming this way would be

Kallile, Tobias and maybe Kallisto (she didnt know where the

taigra lady lived so she could come from any direction).

Seeing as Sootkin was the one being so concerned with

punctuality he was the first to notice Kallile. The woman, Kallile, is here.Sootkin said stiffly as he sniffed

    at the air. Panthera, not his favourite species.Alice scrambled to her feet Sootkin nimbly jumping off her lap;

Roraldi flinched out of his impromptu nap and sniffed towardsKallile aswell. He hissed softly and sent a larger image of the

approaching group; he had very good eye sight. Its okay, both of you its fine. They must be all her bonded...

From Roraldis image that was a LOT of panthera. Small nervous

squeaks escaped Zed, mimicking Alices sentiment.

Shush, Zed. We dont need them picking up on that. Roraldi, behave. Both reptiles quieted but shifted nervously as the band

    approached.

Hearing his name the Kallo looked up and around, confused.Whoa, who said that? When he saw Runi the kallo squealed and

took off of Alice and landed clumsily next to Runi; also onKalliles head.

Runi~ He purred, nuzzling her. Awh yey!

Large ears fell as Sootkin watched the panther, particularly thelord. Oh jeeze. At least he only had to watch the aurata.

Considering Rezzie was the first hed ever met, he couldnt sayhe was much ofg a fan so far.

Its no problem Kallile, we werent waiting long. Um, okay. Shesmiled, albeit a hint of discomfort, I dont mind travelling with

panthera... Hey to... all of you? Alice smiled and laughed. Bleh, this cats werent the friendly sort as far as she could tell.

Amala seemed the exception; she was even purring.

Oh well thanks I- And the laugh, gawd how perfectly did it fitwith that constant grin on Roraldis face?

Um... Ill... Remember that... Thank you...He hopes that the large group will not bother the lord...

Sootkin said, ears still down with his tail curled tightly aroundhis feet. That was a subtle, Things will get crowded, maybe

youll not want to go, solitary creature that you are,.

Roraldi just watched the group, the pumal in particular seeingas hed already had a run in with her. Yah, he was not a fan of

these four eyed cats.He got a nervous/warning glare from Alice before the kids

attention returned to Kallile (she tried to make it look like shedidnt care that that big panther with the ugly laugh was there

and that she was watching him).

Youre the first to arrive and... Oh! Theres Tobias I think!

Roraldi craned his neck around the group and send the mentalimage of the old man on the back of a big bear creature and...

another wyvern?Hed been rather unfazed by the panthera, or hed shown some

form of dislike. The agonys reaction to the lord was some mix

    10/21

of hatred and cow-towing respect; a weird mix that, through herconnection with the wyvern Alice tried to decipher.

Calm down Roraldi... Alice growled, Roraldi twitching, opening

and closing his wings. Oh get this crap off his back! He lookedlike a dork! Images of him without the gear, displaying his

colours and hiding the puke coloured markings that tried to

appear on his body.Sorry youre rigged to carry Roraldi so just- Morning Tobias.Alice said with a small smile. Her hands had moved to grip the

    strap of her bag.

The panthera was nerve wracking but this was almost worse. Now she HAD to deal with Tobias. Bleh, did he still hate her?

    Or... dislike her... Or whatever.

Its a pleasure to meet you too, Alice smiled with a quick nodof her head to try and be polite. Alice didnt curtsy and with her

current load she wasnt about to risk rolling just to bow.He too finds it... a pleasure to meet the bonded of Tobias. He is

Sootkin and his bonded is Alice. Zed,the kallo turned away

from crooning at Runi to finally see who he was beingintroduced to, chirping energetically at the sanglyst; yup thatwas him!

and Roraldi... There is a Rezzie around, but he does not knowwhere...Sootkin shrugged, looking at Roraldi who had scooted

    to one side of Alice.

While stretching his neck out toward Blackjack Roraldi flippedhis tongue in and out, tasting the air. He kept low to the

ground, not wanting to start a fight but curious about the otherwyvern. The agony made sure to keep his body somewhat

hidden behind his bond. The leathers straps and bags on hisbody were not flattering or impressive.

Alice smiled and shrugged, Its fine I brought everyone with me

and he seems nice enough, she could only shrug, not having aclue as to how devious these vargul could be or what they were

really like. For being big and full of scary sharp teeth and claws(not to mention mass) he was actually very nice, not like that

panthera of Kalliles; Naitouc.Ill keep it in mind, Alice said with a nervous smile. As much

as shed love to give on the weight on her back she couldntbring herself to go it. No, she had to prove her worth on this

trip; there was no way she was going to let somebody else carryher stuff.

At the mention of the cats Alice laughed, I hadnt seen one

until I got to hang out with Kallile. Just a few days ago we raninto two. Rezzie decided to bond to me and shes coming with

too, shes just... not here right now...She really was a solitary thing and loved open spaces. The

panthera hadnt even seen Alices room yet!

Alice was aware of the avoidance and tried to ignore it herself, laugh it off, right? Zed wouldnt really let her as he suddenly

glared at Tobias, clacking his teeth together.Toby... He said, directly greeting him from atop Kalliles head.

Clearly Alice had been speaking about him a lot as Zed knew hisname rather well. His tone was not a friendly one.

    Jerk.

Alice jumped at Kallistos arrival but was glad for it. Zed youjerk, getting her into trouble again!

Morning! Were all here! That was good and Sootkin seemed torelax a little; good good. The group was here and he could stop

worry about that, at least.Did he? Alice asked, Yah after I let him go I had to hope hed

just... go to you. Im glad you got the message, at least. With the week shed spent with Adonis she was surprised just

how polite he was. Zed had learned nothing from him and Zed

had tried to teach him a good song for the morning. Alice wasntsure if the other lord had learned it but it had been cute towatch the two interact. Sootkin had been a little surprised that

they hadnt been constantly trying to one up the other. Thoughthe Electric Slide Kallo Faedragon was hardly the most

intelligent or competitive kallo so he would be easy enough toone up and never get a response from him.

Zed let out a long, high pitched whistle at the other kallo before

scooting over to make room on Kalliles head. Awh how...sweet? Poor Kallile she seemed to attract death cats and

    faedragons now.

Alice cooly (cooly to a 12 year old consists of slightly-larger-

then-normal eyes, at least she wasnt going bug eyed) lookedover Kallisto and the not-even-hidden knifes. Her own knife wasin a pocket closest to her hand in the bag she wore across her

shoulders; just in case. Sorry Tobias but Alice wasnt beingcaught without some sort of weapon.

Greetings Erebus.Sootkin said, not wanting to have to go

through the name rounds all over again. He should have waitedfor everyone to be assembled.

Alice smiled and nodded, fidgeting and looking ready to go...Now. Before Tobias could wonder what shed been saying about

him in the privacy of her own room. Bleh! She just wanted to goand get this started, yuck! It was easier to ignore problems if

you had something else to concentrate on, you know?

And then there was a dragon.Yeep-Omph! Stepping back with a wyvern crouched behind you

was, pure and simple, a recipe for disaster. Alice fell back,Roraldi squawked but kept still, his attention turning to Alice

and away from the other wyvern. How embarrassing! Better tryand hide your face.

Is Alice okay?the tzingane asked, trotting over. He didnt

seem too concerned about Roraldi, but then he wasnt a big fanof the stupid brute anyway.

Sorry Roraldi! A bit of flailing and a good push from Roraldiand Alice was up again, cheeks burning. Stupid.

    Wasnt... expecting that... Sorry...

Could she maybe just... curl up and die someplace off screen? That would be just wonderful right now, honestly. Real tough,

Alice. You were taken down by the weight of your own backpack, totally not lame at all. Xaire strike her down now...

Its a pleasure to meet you, Kael, Alice murmured quietly, herattention on her feet, cheeks burning miserably.

Zed didnt know why Alice was so embarrassed but he jumped

from Kalliles head, over Kallistos and onto Alices back pack, clawing his way to her shoulder and cuddling up against her

    cheek. Feel bettah~!

This trip was going to be a long one, Sootkin could feel it. Whywas his bonded the youngest? Why did she even have to go?

Head jolting slightly to (rather unwillingly, but she wasn't goingto stop the Kallo from an obvious reunion) accommodate Zed,Kallile went slightly cross-eyed to try and see just what the twofaedragons thought they were doing up there. Her plan wasfoiled as Runi wriggled a little more to the side to nuzzle Zed inreturn--her tail draping into Kallile's face as a result. Carefullymoving the tail to tuck it behind her ear (what else was shesupposed to do with it?), Kallile grinned at Alice.

It wasn't long before Tobias had joined the group along wth histwo Lord Bonds--the one he rode on made Kallile grimaceinternally. Ugh...Vargul. She hated Varguls. Reflexively shetouched at the mark her own Vargul had given her on her upper

arm--hidden for now by a rarely worn sleeved t-shirt. If shecould help it, she wasn't talking to this one at all. Only noddingto the Lord, she put more focus on Tobias and hisquestion...er...sort of question.

"Just lucky I guess." She said with a dry grin. Luckywasn'texactly the word she would call having bonded to three out ofher four death-cats. Amala was the exception--she kinda likedher company. Pushy as she was. Speaking of Amala, her eyeswere looking around Tobias and his company somewhat sadly.Sai? No come?Amala asked Tobias nervously upon not seeingher young friend. Safe were left...yes?

Kallisto arrived just as quickly after with a faedragon and aPanthera of her own. Huh, must be the popular travelingcompanions. Naitouc--first focused on Alice--now put his focuson the newest Pumal of the little gathering as he slightly flaredhis shockingly neon green frills. This one he remembered, and itwould be wise to show some respect. He was, after all, theawesome Naitouc that it had taken eight of his own kind tobring into submission.

Alice wasn't alone as Kael arrived--Kallile too jumped back alength and all the common Panthera rumbled darkly. Dragonswere not something they feared...but there was a health respectfor the knowledge that one would be exceedingly difficult tobest in a fight. Especially one that was fully grown. After a

small show of frills (more for flarings sake that warning ofattack), Kallile had reigned them in with accosting glances.

Amala was the first to move to the fallen Alice, large rose eyeslooking over the smallest humanoid there with a geniuine worry.

Is alright? The Aurata asked through an even, nervous purr ofher mind-voice. Kallile didn't have a moment to speak--and it

was a good thing because she may have bitten her own tongueas Zed leapt from off her head. Runi crooed softly in goodbye

before looking up at Adonis and chirping sing-songily at him. He

    was here too!? What fun!

"I'm as ready as I'm going to get--I say let's go."

Should live long enough. Hope come back one piece.Naitouc purred darkly, proudly pacing through the gathered

crowd in the general direction of the forest. He was true--hewasn't sticking around to act as babysitter for his bond. She

was on her own with no sympathy from him.

Fae-bugs. Glad no go with. Rhett scoffed, looking hatefully upat Zed, Runi, and Adonis. He raised his navy and aqua frill just

to emphasis his hate of them before moving ahead down theright side of the path until his shine-less black pelt was lost in

the underbrush. Fatin, having contently ignored her fellow

Pumal, playfully rubbed past all legs that happened to be on herpath to follow the left side of the groups path. She seemed, however, to be going out of her way to walk nearest to Sootkin.

Be fun watch fidget. She purred to Sootkin, and even Kallile

wasn't sure if she was kidding or not. But the Pumal gave a flipof her tail and a shake of her head in order to make her frill-

embedded bangles jingle and she disappeared into the left-side's underbrush as Rhett had.

"What's itto ya, bug?" he snarled back, on the defensive and making hisdislike of Faes known. They were bothersome little creatures. "Ithink you guys probably taste better than you sound."

Benedict gave a low laugh at the suggestion but didn't speakup. He was an observer first and foremost, on this dayespecially. When everyone had settled into one another'scompany, then perhaps he could be more social.

clear message: there was a red line between them, and ifRoraldi stepped over it, Jack would bite his face off.

"Holy shit!" Kael's arrival tore Tobias's mind away from other

matters. He had nodded politely at Kallisto when she rolled up,but had not been expecting a full-grown dragon at the caboose

end of things. He was huge. But he was Kallisto's Bonded, and

on their side. There were other names to remember now, andafter Alice had fallen and Kallile was similarly taken aback, a lullsettled over the group. Too many introductions for Tobias to

remember had happened way too fast.

"Ok, I'm horrible with names but it's nice to meeteverybody, yadda yadda. If we could dispense with the

pleasantries we could get moving. God, it's like a fuckingcaravan." His voice degenerated into a serious of disgruntled

murmurs. Alice's fall had embarrassed her, but he didn'tcomment on it. In fact, when it happened, he had bolted

forward on Benedict's back, as if he might catch her. But he wastoo far away, and the futility of the gesture made him pretend

that it hadn't happened. He looked back at Amala; she was in

    his good books, at least.

"No, he's too young. It was either leave these two or take

the less dangerous ones. At least Jack and Ben know howto handle themselves." He masked his concern for Sai in the

claim that the Gryphon chick would have been a burden.Kallile's Panthera went off to scout ahead. For now, Jack stayed

where he was, but he would be taking to the skies once thegroup was underway. As for Benedict...Tobias wanted him close

by more than he wanted to wonder where the Vargul was. Whenit came time to hunt, he'd relinquish the lord.

"All right, let's go. Who's in charge of the map?" he asked,

The Forest was used to thevarying noise his presence elicited. Kael looked over at Alice, golden eyes. ' The pleasure is mine. I should thank you fortaking Kallisto along. pertained to her directly. She did, however understand thateveryone was eager to be on their way. She could understand

that, seeing as she herself was itching to move. This feeling, however, seemed to take the form of a just-past-his-prime male

edging his Lord Vargul forward. The Tigress spoke then. "I amunder the impression Alice has the map?" She looked

questioningly over at the instigator of all this orderly chaos.

But I have all key points of the map memorized.Photographic memory. It came in handy every once and a while.Adonis crooned at Runi and Zed, but remained on Kaels head,

where he was told, as the Dragon began to float higher. Theywould only be just above the tree line, within shouting distance.

Erebus had effectively ignored everyone but Sootkineven the

proud Tigris Lord. He no longer followed his rule, and Kallisto, while human-shaped for the most part, was just as much of a

hell-cat as they were. To Sootkin, though, Erebus flickered histail in greeting with a Hello. When Kallisto moved, so did her

would be taking extensive mental notes. About how fast theytraveled, how far they traveled, and how long it took them to

reach the major intervals marked off in her head. Doing sowould allow her to offer them a better estimate of the time it

neck often to look back at the lord. They were finally on theirway and... Alice didnt know how to even talk to Tobias right

now. Shed missed the protective lunge (being on her ass andall) and if Zed was any indication of how she was she feeling (it

    actually wasnt) she was mad.

Zed was acting of his own accord, a protective instinct since his

bonded didnt feel comfortable around Tobias which OBVIOUSLYmeant he was bad news. Obviously. Besides he had a scaryvargul and a scary wyvern, clearly, CLEARLY bad road.

West? North? Alice was not one who was good with directions,

but shed found a LOT of neat stuff in the old lost and foundboxes, including (but not limited to) an old beat up tin compass.

The face was scratch but it mostly pointed North. She removedthis from her pants pocket, fingers skimming her knife as she

did.Ive never taken this path but Ill take your word for it... She

said, finding North and seeing they were indeed, moving Eastbefore putting the compass back in her pocket. Alice had also

been going over the map this past week and this did seem to be

    the right direction so far.

..... Hey Tobias? her attention turned to him, gawd hed swore

a lot so far he seemed really annoyed. Maybe he was annoyedthat she was here? Eh... She almost wimped out on asking her

question but managed to swallow her fear.Did you ever find anyone who could make you a gun?

Zed, meanwhile, was clinging to Alices scalp, enough to makeher wince, as he watched Tobias. Whip like tail lashed out

behind him frills half raised towards Tobias, ready to warn him, even attack him. Alice absent mindedly swatted towards Zed,

forcing him to let go and dive to the side, flying around and tothe side with a tight turn and back to Kallile, half running, half

skidding to a stop on her shoulder. She was a good place to sitand she had more shoulder space for landings compared to

    Alice.

Sootkin had no idea who to walk with besides his own bonded. He seemed to be the only tzingane here... It was a little weird

and yet not surprising that all of the scary bonded were withthe adults while Alice was travelling with the smaller,

considerably cuter, bonded. Besides Roraldi who was a patheticand stupid example of his species. Oh yah, and he cant fly.

At Tobias' jest, Runi gave a surprisingly violent shiver and with

a shriek flopped herself into the space between Kallile's backand the backpack. Wide, amethyst eyes slowly peered over the

top of the bag--bright lavender and sunshine frills splayed outas the little Hin peered out at the aged soldier. All the while,

she trembled like a leaf in a hurricane-force wind. Eat? Her

    mindvoice managed to squeak out before she disappeared backin the safety of her little crevice. Oh no...that big scary humanwas going to eat them! D8;

Kallile shivered as well--only because the feel of what was

essentially snakeskin running part way down ones back wasquite enough to cause the impulse reflex. "Alice should have

the map. She found it." A pause, thoughtful as it were, toweigh her next statement. "But I agree. Let's get moving

before we all go stir-crazy. We'll get the names downlate--sounds like we're going to have plenty of time to

    play the whole name-game."

She took only a slight misstep as Zed came toa jogging halt on

her shoulder--Runi quickly reappearing from behind the bag.Oh, hey! Traveling company! 8D

Amala moved more slowly--keeping a distance somewherebetween Benedict and Kallile. She didn't want to be close to the

dangerous Lord but at the same time he carried her dear Sai'sbond. With a saddened sigh, she gave a nod of her dark

chocolate head. Understand. Only want safe. Is cub... There wasa hint of motherly worry to her voice as she slowed her pace

even further to walk side by side with Kallile. She looked softlyto Sootkin and gave him an encouraging rumble--hoping, at

least, that it sounded encouraging to him. Erebus she chose toignore. He was not one of her bond siblings--therefore she

wanted no part of interacting with him if not absolutely needed.

It wasn't long before Kallile was sighing. "So..we're juststrolling down 'nice and easy' lane. Kallisto...you said

before it's be a day or two before we reached themountains, right?" Amala rose her frills curiously and looked

ahead to the misted mountains in the distance. It certainlyseemed that way.

"If that's the case--we might want to consider figuring

out a traveling order. Who are best suited to scout aheadand test the paths and all that. If we have the wrong

person in the lead we might all wind up sliding down tothe bottom of some pit or something." At this Alice was

matter, he didn't fancy the dragon's presence. If Kallistodecided to rob them blind in the middle of the night--or worse--

she had the most muscle to back her up. Benedict might leave adent in those scales and Blackjack could help as well, but a

forty-foot dragon could hold his own or flee whenever hewished. No; he wasn't comfortable around the Forest common.

Nor was he trusting of his Bonded, still. "Memorized? Well,

The Sanglyst Vargul glanced up at the treeline and the sun'spath. If it became too bright he would make himself scarce, for

Zed was still leering at the human soldier when Alice mustered

up the nerve to ask about his weapon status. "No. No guns."He was bitterly disappointed and his voice advertised the fact.

"Put that thing on a leash, why don't you? Reminds me o'those stupid yappy dogs. Chihuahuas. Looks like it wants

to bite my damn ear off." He could match a Faedragon in aglaring contest any day, and gave Zed a run for his money. He

daredhim to fly forward and try something, not knowing howtethered the creature was to Alice's emotions.

He turned to the f rightened Runi, who had taken his 'threat' a

bit too seriously. He was amused by that fact. "Oh, yeah. Getme some barbecue sauce and a griddle, I'd bet you fry up

real nice, little lady." A harsh bark of laughter met the crispair. The two Faedragons were now situated together on Kallile,

and he hoped they would stay there. They were like mosquitoeswith their buzzin' to and fro.

"We got eyes in the air and on the ground with the

didnt seem like the kind of man who would be won over byflowery, reassuring words. No matter. Kallisto wasnt here to win

his trust. She was here to lead them to their treasure and makesure they were safe. And as her wonderfullytalkative dragon

had pointed out, Kallisto didnt wasnt the most smoothsocialist.

Kallile brought up a valid point with who would lead the group. While they wouldnt have to worry about being stuck in a pit

with all these flying creatures around, this adventure wouldntbode well if any of them broke their ankle. Kallisto coolly

noticed Tobias instinct to keep Alice away from the frontlines, while he immediately volunteered the Tigress for the position.

If no one else objects, I can lead. And yes, at least a day, depending on how fast you humans travel. She answered

the other womans earlier question. If it were the Tigress andWolf alone, they could probably make it there before the end of

the day. But that clearly wasnt going to happen. She driftedpast Tobias, Alice, Kallile and all their Shinies, Erebus ghosting

by her side, baring her striped back to them. She turned then, slowing her pace so that she was sidling forward while looking

back at them. Shall we go then? We wouldnt want towaste daylight.

Kallisto in front and then Tobias and myself and Kallile? Itseemed a decent order, Kallisto would lead Tobias could watch

her and Alice could hang out with Kallile (avoid Toby) and shedalso be in the middle so Tobias wouldnt have to worry about her

being safe. Maybe she should have revoked Tobys invitation,he was just being mean now because he hated her...

I think that should work out just fine for an order, either wayIm walking, She said and that was that, everyone seemed to

be standing around, talking about moving. So Alice startedwalking, keeping behind Kallisto as the tigress moved which was

easy as she was walking backward at the moment.Blackjack took of just before this, leaving the slightly ruffled

agony the free will to move as he followed after Alice, biting the

hem of her shirt and following like a baby elephant behind hismother. He was growling happily, now that he didnt have toworry about that lord beating the snot out of him.

Sootkin jumped into action, following after the band when Alice

looked to Tobias, brows furrowed, No, I wont. Hes harmless, just upset. Ignore him. Besides hes not a pet, Tobias and his

not a chiwow or... whatever. Tell her how to keep her bonded, will he? Yah, smart move just irritate her more by being mad at

her little flying lizard. Maybe he should kick Sootkin while hesat it. Men.

Zed went back and forth between glaring at Tobias and looking

up to Runi, chirping his adoration at her.

Zed, leave Tobias alone. Alice said, getting a funny look fromZed that said something along the lines of, Thats how yourefeeling, Im just reacting, alright?.

And Tobias was threatening Runi now too? Yah he was doing areally good job of keeping Zed in a good mood. With a quick

jump from shoulder to bag Zed placed himself between Runi andTobias, hissing at the old soldie r.

Well everyone seemed to be sinking into a bad mood (besides

Roraldi who was probably too stupid for that anyway). Sootkinsighed, looking to Amala. He bristled a little, not about to

overcome his fear completely in a few minutes and offered hersomething akin to a fox smile. Oh boy, this trip was going to be

    a long one.

Though she had no ill feelings towards Tobias--at Runi's second

violent shiver attack at his description of how he might eat herand a now angry Zed on her person as well, she shot the older

man a look. Seriously, old man. Now she was covered infaedragons--lighten it up. She reached over her shoulder and

offered Runi an awkward pat on the back. "He's kidding. Noeating." She remarked dryly. She wasn't the best at comforting

and the fact that Runi was rather hard pressed to reactaccording to Kallile's feelings. She too was in the dark that Zed

was acting out on Alice's behalf. Kallisto found Kallile's attentionquickly and the werewolf woman grinned broadly. "I'm not

going to agrue you leading. You know your key points, likeyou said, and I trust your reflexes more than mine."

She wasn't going to admit that she was fairly agile--more than

she should be for a human-- nor was she going to try and viefor the lead spot. Kallile wasn't quite the leading type--she was

content as a loner or a follower.

Amala was quick to adjust her pace to make it closer to Alice.

There was something about the girl that drew forth her motherlynature; even though she didn't understand why all this was

going on. She would keep herself close to the child unless asked(politely or forget it) to go somewhere else.

"I've got no problem bringing up the rear. I think I've got

the most eyes on the ground anyway." She said this with a

grin that drew a disapproving look from Amala. Oh, Pantherahad four eyes. Haha, you slay me with your bad joke, Bond.

Hanging behind until everyone had seemingly fallen into place,Kallile followed after Alice with a small grin on her face. She

hadn't noticed it from Zed, but she was noting it from Alice."Smile a little--it's adventure day number one, right?"

Kallile leaned down to whisper at the girl. The goal, of course, being to remind Alice of why they were going. Adventure,

treasure, who knew what else. "Leave your worries at theWeyrd and let's get going."

She looked ahead to the mountains. A day among near

strangers...how was this going to pass by? "Anyone know any

traveling games that don't somehow involve cars?"My my,wasn't the little werewolf just in an up and up mood today?
