Kentucky gifts us with gorgeous landscapes and undiscovered adventures, so why not take advantage of that challenge? Bowling Green houses an abundance of these escapes: adventures and discoveries that will relax our strained thoughts and spark the curiosity in our tamed hearts.

The goal is to let Bowling Greens nature secrets out, starting with Low Hollow Trail. Just two miles from Western Kentucky Universitys campus lies this hidden secret. Weldon Peete Park is the niche where Low Hollow Trail has grown. Formed by many local businesses and Bowling Green natives, Low Hollow trail is a 2.8 mile trail sponsored by Southwest Kentucky Mountain Bike Association.

As Bowling Greens first single track trail, Low Hollow is available for beginning to intermediate mountain bike riders as well as hikers and trail runners. This handful of activities is rare in the south-central region, and perhaps

thats why Low Hollow has remained the secret it is. The stresses from daily campus life would melt from the minds of student visitors to Weldon Peete Park. As the Barren River rushes along nearby, Low Hollow Trail is an easily accessible escape from the city.

Another of Bowling Greens best kept secrets is Shanty Hollow Lake, located just a 20 minute drive from the heart of the city. A 135 acre reservior, open to fishing, is the centerpiece of this haven, but there are miles of trails to hike and a beautiful waterful to discover if you are not into the fishing scene.

Whether you are a student who wants to escape the monotony of Bowling Green and school life or if you are a visitor making your way to Warren County, Low Hollow Trail and Shanty Hollow Lake are most certainly relaxing escapes.
