About Advocacy Academy:This is a paid 8 week internship where participants will choose a disability advocacy issue to learn about and then create an advocacy campaign around that issue.

YOU WILL LEARN ABOUT:• The history of the Disability Rights Movement

in the United States• The skills of advocacy• Personal leadership• Working in a group• Workplace skills• Planning and implementing a disability

advocacy project

Six (6) individuals will be selected for the 2015 Berrien Summer Advocacy Academy Internship program.

A stipend will be paid upon the successful completion of the internship.

SCHEDULE:June 15, 2015 - August 11, 2015 • Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Schedule Adjustments: No Advocacy Academy on June 29, 30 & July 1; Noon start time on June 24 & July 22

Who May Apply:We are seeking applicants who: • Are between 16–29 years of age • Are able to commit to the entire 8 week internship • Have a disability • Are motivated to increase their leadership skills
