ADVOCACY vs. LOBBYING

[email protected]

1. Training MPs on human rights and gender, UN treating ratification and domestication of treaties. (Advocacy – want the MPs to take action in range of areas)

2. Mobilising women's’ groups to demand local council allocate land to a build Safe House. (Advocacy – many role-players involved and many strategies will be needed to secure the land)

3. Presentation to Cabinet on VAW and resources needed to effectively respond to VAW. (Lobbying – targeting Cabinet to allocate resources)

4. Consultations with church leaders to speak out about VAW. (Lobbying)

5. Training teachers to teach life-skills curriculum (Advocacy – this is one activity in a broader campaign to prevent teenage pregnancy, alcohol abuse, violence against girls)

Is it advocacy, lobbying or service…?
