1 THE EURASIAN JULY 2013 VOL 40 ISSUE 15 aeawa.asn.au Hello members! Our June Sunday lunches historically have been some of our more quieter Sunday lunch months. However, the 9th June Sunday lunch, may be one of the best attended to date with around 200 people filling up the hall. Many thanks to the band members - Mohan, Gary, Dave, EJ, Bala, Andrew, Gerard & Leanne who provided us with some great dance tunes! It was my turn to organise the cooks for June and I now realise how difficult it can be! My utmost respect to all our kitchen volunteers – cooks, cleaners, servers, drink stall, etc etc and my most grateful thanks to those who without question, accepted my request, and helped with the cooking – Clifford De Silva, Jacque Fletcher, Lorna Rodrigues, Joyce Drysdale, Carol Locke, Val Richards and Val Conier. Everyone is ever willing to lend a hand and it is these, who make the Sunday lunches such as success! Thank you all very much! After lunch was our talk on ‘Living with and preventing Diabetes’. 45 people listened intently to the speaker, Deanne Dymock, who provided us with some sound advice and hints. Thank you Community Services committee for organising this very interesting talk. The Silver Jubilee steering committee and their sub committees are going ‘full steam ahead’ with a rush of fantastic ideas and suggestions for some 2 or 3 big events we are planning during the year as we build up to our ultimate celebration – our Silver Jubilee Ball. One event coming up soon is our Bingo afternoon. Final details will be announced soon. Silver Jubilee Ball - as you can appreciate, in order for us to organise the best possible celebration for our members and at the same time try to maintain a small element of suspense, logistically, this is a very difficult task! It is therefore, imperative, that all members heed the notices and announcements we make very stringently starting from this month. Here’s the first. It is the Eurasian Association’s celebration of our 25th Anniversary. It is therefore obvious that it MUST be a ‘members only’ celebration. Our membership runs on a calendar year that is 1 January to 31 December. Please make sure you maintain a current financial membership. We will keep you updated with more information soon. We had our Winter dance on the 22nd June with about 200 people at the Belmont Sport & Recreation Club, entertained brilliantly by Eurasia and our own DJ Gary Aviet, the dance floor was always full and a great night was had by all. Thank you Kay and all your helpers. Next month, we have our ten pin bowling session on the 14th of July after the July Sunday lunch. We have had a great response and are looking forward to an entertaining afternoon. July 20th is our Christmas in July celebration and head to South Yunderup for a Chrissy lunch buffet. Details of these and other events can be found inside. And of course the July Sunday lunch on the 14th is all organised and ready to go! As usual there will be lots of entertainment, prizes and food. Please bring your family and friends along for a catch up with your mates and an afternoon of fun… Chad

LUNCH VOUCHERS

To serve the lunches faster, a lunch

voucher needs to be purchased –this is

how it works:

when you arrive you get a num-

bered ticket as usual

then you purchase a lunch voucher

at the entrance, currently $6 for a

main meal ($3 for over 80’s and

free for over 90’s)

if a side dish is available this may

also be purchased at the same time

when your number is called, please

present your numbered ticket

together with the coloured voucher

at the kitchen to receive your meal.

(N.B: One ticket = one main meal + side

dish).

A gentle plea - please have the correct

amount handy to save us running

out of change.

In the unfortunate event that we run out of

all meals, we will refund your money.

(Cakes are sold after the

lunch service has finished)
