1 THE EURASIAN OCTOBER 2013 VOL 43 ISSUE 18 aeawa.asn.au Greetings again dearest members! Time is rolling along very quickly indeed and the year’s end will soon be upon us. I have some important information in this report so members please take heed. I’ll start off with Father’s Day September Sunday lunch. About 170 people were there to help us entertain our dad’s and make it a most enjoyable day. In a short three hours, we squeezed in a $2 gold coin toss to be the closest to win the donated bottle of Johnny Walker Black, a very amusing chapteh contest with three winners, an excellent six piece band that got the dance floor full towards the end of the lunch, yummy homemade food and we topped the afternoon off with a cold beer for each father as our small token to say how much we care! Thank you so much kitchen & drink staff, cooks & cleaners and the band! We also had an indoor games session with bingo, chikee and carrom being the most popular games. It was however poorly attended so the Sports & Games committee has suggested that we discontinue the activity. Unfortunately due to the forecast of dreadful weather, our family pic- nic on the 22nd September had to be called off. Members, please take note of the next 3 items: Nomination for our Awards will be open soon. We had NO applicants last year so if you have or know of a talented child in music or sport or a person active in the community....we would love to hear from you. We also have a couple of scholarships to give away as well. Please be alert for details to come. EGM: We will be holding an EGM at the November lunch to pass an important resolution on the funding of our upcoming Silver Jubilee Ball. The Ball is proposed to be a members only function. We will furnish you with all the necessary information and invite you to be present as we share in the celebration. Please see inside for all the necessary details. Membership renewal. Our membership runs on a calendar year that is January to December. ALL memberships are due by 31ST DECEMBER 2013. To ensure that you have a current financial status by that time, we recommend early renewals. Charles will make himself avail- able for these at the next few Sunday lunches. Finally, what’s coming up in October? 13th is our Seniors Sunday lunch, followed by our talk on Home Security The menu looks mouth-watering and we have two great muso’s lined up for your listening pleasure. Please join us in celebrating and thanking our very loyal senior members! We also have our TAFE dinner on the 25th and our Spring Tea Dance on the 20th. In November we have our Remembrance Day Sunday lunch, our EGM, a game of Rounders and Melbourne Cup....then many more events in December! See inside for all details. OCTOBER 2013 VOL 43 ISSUE 18

aeawa.asn.au

Greetings again dearest members! Time is rolling along very quickly indeed and the year’s end will soon be upon us. I have some important information in this report so members please take heed.

I’ll start off with Father’s Day September Sunday lunch. About 170 people were

there to help us entertain our dad’s and make it a most enjoyable day. In a

short three hours, we squeezed in a $2 gold coin toss to be the closest to win

the donated bottle of Johnny Walker Black, a very amusing chapteh contest with three winners,

an excellent six piece band that got the dance floor full towards the end of the lunch, yummy

homemade food and we topped the afternoon off with a cold beer for each father as our small

token to say how much we care! Thank you so much kitchen & drink staff, cooks & cleaners and

the band!

We also had an indoor games session with bingo, chikee and carrom being the most popular

games. It was however poorly attended so the Sports & Games committee has suggested that

we discontinue the activity. Unfortunately due to the forecast of dreadful weather, our family pic-

nic on the 22nd September had to be called off.

Members, please take note of the next 3 items:

Nomination for our Awards will be open soon. We had NO applicants last year so if you have

or know of a talented child in music or sport or a person active in the community....we would

love to hear from you. We also have a couple of scholarships to give away as well. Please

be alert for details to come.

EGM: We will be holding an EGM at the November lunch to pass an important resolution on

the funding of our upcoming Silver Jubilee Ball. The Ball is proposed to be a members only

function. We will furnish you with all the necessary information and invite you to be present

as we share in the celebration. Please see inside for all the necessary details.

Membership renewal. Our membership runs on a calendar year that is January to December.

ALL memberships are due by 31ST DECEMBER 2013. To ensure that you have a current

financial status by that time, we recommend early renewals. Charles will make himself avail-

able for these at the next few Sunday lunches.

Finally, what’s coming up in October? 13th is our Seniors Sunday lunch, followed by our talk on

Home Security The menu looks mouth-watering and we have two great muso’s lined up for your

listening pleasure. Please join us in celebrating and thanking our very loyal senior members! We

also have our TAFE dinner on the 25th and our Spring Tea Dance on the 20th. In November we

have our Remembrance Day Sunday lunch, our EGM, a game of Rounders and Melbourne

Cup....then many more events in December! See inside for all details.

Best wishes & God Bless

EGM

Members are advised that an EGM will be convened during the 10th November 2013 luncheon to consider the following resolution: “The management committee be authorised to utilise Association funds up to an amount of $20,000 to celebrate our 25th Jubilee anniversary.” Background In February 2014, AEAWA will have reached its 25th year of inauguration. To cele-brate this auspicious occasion, the management committee is organising a special celebration for Saturday 1st March 2014 in the form of a gala dinner to include food, wine and song. To make the event affordable for every member to attend, the cost needs to be subsidised from our current funds which stand close to $57,000. The management committee estimates that the celebration will cost less than $20,000 after ticket sales, but needs your authority to pay for costs as they arise prior to the event. The management committee has fund raised and made substantial sales at our monthly lunches, and anticipates that, if this trend continues, then it is likely that any amount drawn from our funds should be recouped over a period of 24-36 months. It is expected that the EGM will be of short duration, and should be of minor disrup-tion to an enjoyable afternoon.

CHANGES TO THE

LUNCH VOUCHERS

To serve the lunches faster, a lunch

voucher needs to be purchased –this is

how it works:

purchase a coloured numbered

lunch voucher at the entrance,

currently $6 for a main meal

(discounted rates for members over

80 or 90.)

if a side dish is available this may

also be purchased at the same time

when the number on the coloured

voucher is called, please present

your voucher at the kitchen to re-

ceive your meal.

(N.B: One ticket = one main meal + side

dish).

A gentle plea - please have the correct

amount handy to save us running

out of change.

In the unfortunate event that we run out of

all meals, we will refund your money.

(Cakes are sold after the

lunch service has finished)
