Every time a cement cooler plugs or needsto be cleaned out due to a system crashstop, the delays can be costly. Pluggingdue to power outages or erratic systemoperation typically required a cleaning crewto visit the cement cooler and vacuum outthe accumulated cement. The associateddowntime for this cleaning can be fourhours or more in most cases. Even on a

smaller mill circuit the costs add up fast.

To minimize this problem, F.L.Smidthintroduces the Powder Cooler StartupAeration System, which will get you backup and running in minutes, not hours. The patent pending design utilizes apressurized manifold attached to a seriesof outlets firing in an engineered patternalong the periphery of the cooler. Thesystem re-aerates the material whichaccumulates in the cooler after a plug or

crash stop, allowing the cooler drive torestart without tripping on high amps.In a matter of seconds the aerationsystem can be turned off and normalfeed to the cooler can be resumed.

System RequirementsThe Startup Aeration System can beprovided on new powder coolers and isalso easy to retrofit on existing coolers.Clean and dry compressed plant air issufficient for system operation, generalrequirements are:

    320 scfm @ 50 psig

    540 m3

    /hr @ 350 kPa

(Compressed air is required only for the fewseconds the system is activated, not duringnormal cooler operation.)

A single control circuit can initiate systemoperation remotely, or manual operationby means of a single air supply valve isalso possible. The system requires noelectrical hookup in the manual operatingconfiguration.

This inexpensive, proven solution can savetens of thousands of dollars per year bymaking clean-up costs and hours of lostproduction a thing of the past.
