The kitchen had been slightly updated in the early ‘90s because the previous owners expanded it and did some upgrades on the 1984-era decor. The couple worked on the house in their spare time, replacing the flooring and doing all the demolition themselves to make their budget stretch. The one thing they couldn’t tackle, however, was dealing with the kitchen cabinets and countertops.

“When we were looking for a company, we wanted one that specifically did refacing so we could save money,” Spencer reveals. “I didn’t even want to price the job with all-new cabinets because we knew that wasn’t in the budget.”

After calling a couple of companies, Spencer and Alyssa decided to call Jim LaValle and Steve Griffith with ReNew after hearing their prices and project details. They didn’t disappoint.

“ReNew gave us the best quote out of all the companies that we talked to,” Spencer says. “They also had the quickest timeline. That really appealed to us.”

next day. Since the couple wasn’t living in the house at the time of the remodel, they had enough trust in ReNew’s crew they left a key for them to come and go as needed. The crew even worked on weekends.

For ReNew, that’s not unusual—that’s exactly how they like to get the job done.

“I’ve organized a good team over the years and I don’t accept anything better than the best. They do excellent work,” Jim says. “The key is communication. You have to respond right away.”

Spencer and Alyssa loved the way Jim and Steve kept in touch with them throughout the process, but they really love the finished product. Spencer esti-mates they probably saved “thousands of dollars” by doing some of the work them-selves and by trusting Jim’s suggestions.

“I knew the exact look I wanted and Jim delivered it for us,” says Spencer, an admitted HGTV addict. “He and I were right in step with the color of the cabinets, but when I told him I wanted a marble countertop he said that a quartz one would save us a lot of money. He had

a sample in the car, showed it to us right away, and we loved it.”

ReNew kept the existing cabinets and doors, but fixed any problem areas and painted them a stylish grey/green hue. The quartz countertop is sleek and spacious and the subway tile backsplash that Spen-cer picked out completes the look.

“We actually held up ReNew’s crew at a few points because we needed more time to do some of the demolition and the tile,” Spencer says. “Once we were ready, though, the crew worked very quickly to finish the job.”

In all, it was about two weeks from start to finish.

Now the young couple is at the best stage of a remodel project—enjoying it! They had a get-together on a recent week-end and all their friends and family com-mented on the new look, “a huge conver-sation piece,” Alyssa says. Now, Spencer’s mom, a Realtor, is already planning to use ReNew for some of her clients’ projects. She really loves how their kitchen turned out—and that they saved a lot of money in the process.

The Ashleys’ next remodel project will probably be the master bathroom, but that’s still a little ways off. They do know who will get their business, though.

“We’ll definitely give ReNew a call when the time comes to do that one,”

Spencer concedes. “We know they’ll do it quickly, which will be a huge factor in that decision.”

For Jim, it’s another job well done, something that never gets old for him or his crew. They take pride in every single assignment, and he’s more than happy to guide his clients every step of the way.

“You have to have that vision of what the final product is going to look like,” Jim explains, “and the product knowledge to get the job done.”

“When we were looking for a company, we wanted one that specifically did refacing so we could save money.”
