Farmers’ Market 2016 DATES

Generally held on the last Saturday of the month from 9am to 2pm - our multi-award

winning Farmers’ Market is now the second largest in the UK. Stalls under cover at the

Agricultural Business Centre, with plentiful parking.

D erbyshire Dales District Council's Agricultural Busi-

ness Centre (ABC) is home to the multi award-

winning Bakewell Farmers’ Market. It is the second

largest farmers’ market in the country and a success story

for the District Council.

When the Farmers’ Markets in Bakewell started in 2000,

there were just 28 producers. This number has expanded

gradually over the years to more than 75 stalls today,

located mostly indoors at the fabulous ABC.

The atmosphere is first class and the spinoff is that local

hotels and businesses in and around Bakewell reap the

benefits of the trade generated by the Farmers' Markets.

We are dedicated to encouraging and maintaining

environmental sustainability, so most stallholders come

from within a 30 mile radius of Bakewell, though some

speciality producers are allowed to attend from up to 100

miles away.

While there are some crafts, most of the stalls are

dedicated to tasty local-produced food and drink.

the Derbyshire Dales, the Agricultural Business

Centre (ABC) is an ideal venue for meetings,

conferences, seminars and training workshops.

With livestock markets every Monday, together with

additional monthly sales, the ABC is very much a working

environment. On these days, the place bustles with activity

and this can form an interesting backdrop to a variety of

events.

Visitors can view the bidding for cattle from special

galleries above the main auction rings or observe the

selling of smaller livestock under the unique marquee-

effect roof of the sheep and calf penning areas.

THE CONFERENCE ROOM can seat up to 60 people caba-

ret style or 100 theatre style and is ideal for conferences,

large meetings, promotional events, training workshops

and lectures.

THE MEETING ROOM can seat 20 people boardroom

style. It’s ideal for inter-departmental meetings, small

seminars, job interviews and training workshops.

THE CONCOURSE is also available for hire and provides

an exciting and expansive space for a multitude of

events. The Concourse easily accommodates large

vehicles, display stands, machinery and equipment and

is ideal for trade exhibitions and displays. On livestock

market days small areas of the Concourse can be hired

to display agricultural products and equipment.

TWO FURTHER ROOMS ARE AVAILABLE, each seating 10 -

12 people boardroom style.

Flip charts and a multi-media projector are available

for use and the Conference Room has the additional

benefits of an audio loop system.
