Oct. 2-3, 2013 Objective: Students will draw conclusions from

texts to analyze the Agricultural Revolution and the changes that occurred in Great Britain as a result.

The Agricultural Revolution

First occurred in England and later spread throughout Europe 1700 – 1900s Transformed the way people, dependent on hunting,

gathering and fishing, survived. Advancements included:

greater land use particularly undeveloped or fallow land, new and improved agricultural equipment such as plows, sickles, hoes,

seed drill. The introduction of crop rotation and necessary crops such as

potatoes and turnips.

An improved plow was heavier than the wooden ones before it, with iron tips that were able to dig deeply into the hard cold soil.

Seed drill - A device that precisely positioned seeds in the soil and then covered them.

Modern machinery that uses the seed drill concept.
