Message from the Prez . . .I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving. Thisyear was our turn for the Bailey gathering and itappeared al l my fami ly was able to make anappearance despite the weather. Afterwards we allwent shopping Thursday evening and tried to walk offsome turkey. Waking up to the ice covered vehicles onBlack Friday had it challenges. Breaking the thick iceon the north side of the frozen car was nearlyimpossible. Thank god the south side of the car was abit less frozen. It was definitely a “Keep the corvette inthe garage” weekend.

My Dream Car Comes True.I would like to push the “start button” of this story by saying thankyou to the members of this cub for taking in an interest in helping mefind a “Car”.
My “road trip“ began with a suggestion of a 2000 C5 in Enid,Oklahoma, And then I test drove a 2002 C5 here in Wichita. Theywere nice, yet nothing seemed to “turn the crank”. I was just was notsure what to think - C5 or C6? … So what’s the differential? Atleast, I knew I wanted a good solid roof over my head - Nothingfancy, just a Base Coupe loaded with options.
I searched the internet, and after not seeing any Corvettes thatseemed to be in the right gear for me. I almost “put the brakes” onthis search - at least locally. The people in this club helped give methe “power” to keep on looking. My computer’s Navigation Systemwent to the Mel Hamilton Ford site where I noticed a Silver 2006Base Corvette Coupe Automatic.
So I automatically, called about this car that was very attractive tome. Now, at last, it looked like the sun was shining through my roof. So I thought it was “Heads Up” for me with a real“Heads up Display“ and the fog lights made it perfectly clear to me that this was the car. I “warmed up” to the idea ofelectric heated seats and mirrors, as well as other fascinating features - out of this world - and those 18 & 19 inch wheelsshould be great this winter for snow and ice. Right? So what’s not to like? All the “electricity” was there. It was music tomy ears - like from the Bose speakers to hear the “super sweet” sound of the Sequential Multi-Port Fuel Injected 6liter- 400 HP - LS2 V8 engine come to life
I have driven Fords all my life with various styling of front end grills, but now with the sleek & low front end of a Corvette, you could say - I have found the “Grill of My Dreams”. Of course, there’s nothing in the world that compares to aCorvette. So, now I am memorizing all kinds of facts & figures, and many fascinating details about this Corvette.
I like to put it this way:
I have gone from 0 to 60 (years) without ever owning a single Corvette,
All my life I have driven cars that went from 0 to 60 mph - Eventually.
Now, I can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds!
Oh what an Accelerating thrill to be thrust back into those 6 way power seats with 2 memory positions, heated - leather &lumbar support.
With a Corvette, you feel like I have arrived - in style.
Sincerely submitted to the Air Capital Corvette Club,Marvin Soliah
P.S. Can you tell I’m a little excited about the Corvette?

Saturday December 5th.
Merry Christmas!!!It is time for our annual Christmas feast. Saturday evening,Dec. 5th. This year, we will be in the Sunflower building at theSedgwick County Park which is between 21st North and 13thNorth just west of the big ditch. It is very close to the 13thstreet entrance to the park (see map on next page). We havethe building from 8AM to 10PM. Betty Henderson and hergang of loyal helpers will probably be there by 4PM and coulduse any other volunteers who are willing to help set up. Wecan use all the help that is cheerfully offered. I, Daryl, will alsobe there by 4PM. Dinner will start at 6:30pm sharp so we canget through the gift exchange before it is time to clean up.Meat, coffee, tea, and table service will be provided. If youwant a different type of drink, bring your own. Your obligationis to bring one dish, which could be salad, starch, deviledeggs, desert, whatever you wish to provide. We wanteveryone to go home stuffed. There will be a white elephant gift exchange. Each person isto bring one wrapped present. This could be a model car,Corvette calendar, something pretty, a hubcap, old starter, ora jar of navel lint. Gifts should be less than $15 down toworthless. Using the same rules as last year. You open a giftand if you want to keep it, you throw in $5 for the Lord’s Dinerfund. If you don’t want to keep it, the gift will go up for auctionstarting at $1. The winning bidder either gives their gift ornumber to the original gift opener. And round and round we go. I will explain better as we getinto the gift exchange when you can see the auction in action.
Rules for the gift exchange after the Christmas feast. All donations (forced or otherwise) will go to the Lord’s Diner. Two possibilities:• Person-A opens a gift. Person-A absolutely loves the gift (or doesn’t want to get
screwed with a worse gift) and wants to keep it. Person-A immediately gives $5 tothe Lord’s Diner fund. Nobody else can later claim that gift.
• Person-A doesn’t want to pay the $5 to keep the gift. The gift is now in play. I (DarylBurbach) will immediately start an auction at $1 with $1 increments. The high bidder,Person-B, gets the gift and it is theirs to keep. Nobody can later claim it. If thePerson-B has already received a gift, Person-B will give the gift to Person-A.Person-A again has the option of paying the $5 or throwing it back into play.
And round and round it goes until all gifts are opened. Person-A is eligible to bid onlater gifts. You can bid on gifts even if you haven’t already received a gift. In that case,Person-A will open another gift.
