Constant innovation in the onward path towards excellence will enable one to become the best that one can be. The Tatweej Award recognizes our outstanding policies and practices that have focused on result orientation, customer satisfaction and market leadership. This will lead to continuous improvement and sustained high standard of service delivery. We aim to propagate what we practice at leading maritime and oil & gas events.

The 1st Mare Forum – Global Leaders Maritime Summit hosted by Drydocks World & Maritime World was a congregation of business practitioners who exchanged views on diverse strategies in achieving excellence and progressive developments directing the future of the maritime, oil & gas sectors in the region. Healthy dialogue and debate within the industry propagates the urge for raising the bar and attaining high standards of excellence. It is important to generate a culture of commitment to quality and excellence within the organization. The Anchor Awards for instance, aims to motivate individuals to enhance performance levels and generate commitment towards HSE goals. This would ensure that deadlines are met, greater customer satisfaction is achieved and success such as the completion of projects such as MCV Eagle Louisiana is replicated.

Drydocks World completed major repair and refurbishment of National Drilling Company’s (NDC) self-elevated crane vessel Al Ghweifat at its Dubai-based shipyard. The 165 ft x 140 ft x 15 ft self-elevated crane vessel has undergone extensive maintenance related repair and refurbishment. Extensive maintenance performed on the three Truss type 260 feet long legs including the spud can, which would enable the vessel to attain peak performance at 157 feet of water. Besides external inspection, blasting and painting of the legs hull, deck, accommodation and tanks was carried out. Leg guides were inspected, replaced and painted.

Around 160 tonnes of steel was renewed. The 7 ft 7 inch high by 25 feet diameter spud cans and pumping equipment were surveyed for maintenance. Five-yearly inspection of two 70-tonne side cranes resulted in appropriate modication to install man riding. In addition, the Searex Omnilift 210-tonne crane was dismantled, inspected and overhauled.

An Aluminum heli-deck was supplied and installed. Designed to accommodate BELL 214/212 ST helicopters and approved by Abu Dhabi Aviation Authority, the steel substructure and landing points were fabricated and designed on the vessel. The existing reghting system was modied to allow landing of helicopters while in oating mode. Additional booster pumps were provided for FiFi system and extra lines fabricated from sea chests to the new heli-deck and a new heliport has been added. The capacity of the submersible pumps and the size of hose reels were increased to suit the Standards of Oshore Helicopter Landing Areas, CAP437.

The accommodation was completely refurbished, AC was repaired and upgraded, pipes were replaced, bow and stern thrusters, overhauled and tail shafts were removed and re-aligned with gear boxes. The shipyard built and manufactured the upper surface of the vessel consisting of two decks (including radio room and bridge), senior level deck and all stair cases. The scope of work in accommodation was huge and touched all possible aspects and the challenge could be taken up due to the yard’s extensive engineering experience and expertise. An inclining experiment was carried out while aoat on the sea.

The repair and maintenance carried out by Drydocks World for NDC has increased over the years as the company received four orders late last year to add to the eight projects completed prior to 2013.

Drydocks World announced the completion and delivery of Eagle Louisiana, the second of two Modular Capture Vessels (MCV). The rst MCV, Eagle Texas, sailed away from Drydocks World’s yard recently. The vessels are the world’s rst MCVs.

Drydocks World converted the AFRAmax tanker for Singapore-based AET, a global leader in petroleum shipping, which has a 20-year agreement with Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC) for the operation of the MCVs. Ten world-renowned companies form MWCC: Anadarko, Apache, BHP Billiton, BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Hess, Shell and Statoil - all committed to safe deepwater drilling in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The MCVs will operate as normal tankers in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and will be outtted and deployed for containment services in the event of a deepwater well control incident in the region.

The work scope of the shipyard included installing components such as four retractable azimuth thrusters, one tunnel bow thruster, new machinery spaces, diesel generator sets and associated tanks, auxiliaries, switchboards, and electrical distribution equipment. The main engine was modied for Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) operation and a control system was added for dynamic positioning, power management and equipment monitoring. Structural support stools and foundations were added for the future installation of topsides processing modules, a turret, are tower, communications equipment, control facilities and other miscellaneous equipment.

The ship’s systems were modied to provide services to topsides processing equipment, as well as hydraulic systems for the CPP, thrusters, cargo valve control and re pumps. A new main deck central pipe rack was fabricated and piping was installed to support topsides processing equipment. The ship‘s living quarters were also upgraded to accommodate more than 65 persons. Mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, testing and sea trials of the converted vessel were also carried out.

The amount of steel used for the Eagle Louisiana project is 2530 tonnes with 19.68 km of pipes and electrical cables of 292 km also utilized. The MCVs will individually have 700,000 barrels of liquid storage capacity, and can process, store and ooad the liquids to shuttle tankers. The process equipment will separate the liquids from gas, safely store the liquids and are the gas. Then the liquids will be ooaded to shuttle tankers which will transport the liquids to shore. With the delivery of the MCVs, Drydocks World has created a name for itself in sophisticated vessel conversions.
