ROOTED IN THE PAST, TARGETING THE
FUTURE
Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat (ALKU) was
established in 2015 as a state university in
Alanya. With more than 10.000 students, the
university has been growing rapidly since its
establishment. ALKU aims to provide qualified
higher education in an international learning
environment. With its 8 faculties (Business,
Engineering, Medicine, Education, Tourism,
Sport Sciences, Health Sciences, Dentistry), 3
graduate institutes (Social Sciences, Natural
Sciences, Health Sciences) and 5 vocational
schools, the university offers variety of associate,
undergraduate and graduate degrees. The
language of instruction at ALKU is Turkish and
English. Some programs are fully in English.
Moreover, students have many academic
options like double major or minor degrees,
summer schools, and transfers to higher
education institutions in Turkey.
LOCATION
Located 135 km east of Antalya province center
in Mediterranean region, Alanya is a major
tourism destination in the Turkish Riviera with
several natural, historical and cultural
attractions. ALKU is the first State University in
Turkey that is located in a city other than the
province center, which shows the importance of
Alanya and its potentials.
Transportation to Alanya is easy by international
and domestic flights to Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport
(40 minutes by bus) and Antalya International
Airport (2 hours by bus). There are also buses
arriving to Alanya bus terminal from all major
cities of Turkey.
STUDENT LIFE
Based in a paradise-like holiday region, ALKU
attaches much importance to the social and
cultural life of its students including, the Spring
Festival, student clubs, environmental and
technical trips, training seminars, conferences,
concerts, exhibitions, job fairs, entrepreneurship
contests, sport activities, etc.
Accommodation opportunities for students
include State dormitories, student-friendly
accommodation facilities and many apart-hotels
INTERNATIONALIZATION
Representing international city of Alanya, ALKU
gives the highest importance to the
internationalization. Within this context, ALKU
aims to develop an internationalization strategy
that is appropriate for the provisions of
education, training, research and services in a
systematic way. A central part of this strategy is
based on our international students who come
from every part of the world to study here.
Currently ALKU has around 300 international
students from 50 different countries and we
expect a rapid increase in this number in near
future.
ALKU- INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OFFICE (IRO)
The International Relations Office (IRO) provides a wide-ranging support service for key aspects of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University's internationalization strategy. MEVLANA EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Mevlana Exchange Program is a program which aims the exchange of students and academic staff between the Turkish higher education institutions and higher education institutions of other countries. With the regulation published in August 23, 2011, students and academic staff exchange between Turkish higher education institutions and higher education institutions of other countries has been possible. Different from other exchange programs, Mevlana Exchange Program includes all higher education institutions in the world regardless of their region.
FARABI EXCHANGE PROGRAM Farabi is an exchange program of students (at associate, bachelor, masters or doctorate levels) as well as teaching staff members among the Turkish higher education institutions, including universities and institutes of technology. Farabi Exchange Program's aim is that university students and teaching staff members participate in education and training at a higher education institution other than their own during a period of one or two semesters.
FREE MOVER EXCHANGE PROGRAM
As part of the Free Mover program, students who are engaged in education at the associate degree, undergraduate degree, master’s degree or doctorate degree level at ALKU or a university abroad can study at ALKU or at another university for one term or one academic year as a guest student by paying a term or annual fee to their own university and to the host university. As distinct from other student exchange programs, students who want to study at a university abroad as part of the Free Mover program must contact the university they want to attend directly for information about the programs for which they wish to apply, and for details about the documentation required. Students using this program shall be responsible for all travel and accommodation expenses, and any fees demanded by the student’s own university and the university which they would like to attend. It is better to know that Free Movers cannot attain a degree from ALKU.
EUROPEAN VOLUNTARY SERVICE
EVS (European Voluntary Service) is an
international volunteer program funded by the
European Commission. It enables all young
people legally resident in Europe, aged between
18 and 30 years, to carry out an international
volunteer service in an organization or in a public
body in Europe, Africa, Asia or South America for
a period ranging from 2 to 12 months. It provides
the reimbursement of travel expenses and
complete coverage of the costs of food and
accommodation for the international volunteer.
