“Good Day everyone!I am Alex Ysabel.”

“I hope that you are having a great time

today!”

“I am here to share with you about my special

wish for the kids back in my hometown !”

Page 3: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

“Its a WISH that will definitely need a little

help from you.”

“…but before that, I would like to tell you

something interesting.”

“It is about my hometown in the Philippines called

JARO.”

Where is…

JARO

Page 5: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

Iloilo Citywhich is in the heart of the Philippines.

It is where you can find

JARO the biggest of the

7 districts in the city.

Our hometown is in

Page 6: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

My family came from Jaro district. It is notable for its large amount

of nineteenth-century architecture. Straddling the main plaza are

the many old mansions, the antique Jaro Cathedral and the

“Palasyo”, the Archbishop's residence.

Majority of the mestizo families from Iloilo came from this town,

because it was a center and main port during Spanish period and

many Spanish traders married natives and settled on the island.

Page 7: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

My town is rich in culture and traditions.

Our celebration of the

Feast of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria(Our Lady of the Candles)

every February 2is well known in the Philippines.

Page 8: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

The image of Our Lady of Candles, venerated not

just by the people of Jaro but also by the people of

Western Visayas and beyond, was canonically crowned

by Pope John Paul II.

It is the only image of Our Lady

in the Philippines to be

canonically crowned by the

pope himself.

Page 9: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

There are lots of people during the fiesta.

We have plenty of food, carnivals, parades, floats and

religious celebrations.

One of the highlights during the Jaro Fiesta is the

Parade and Coronation

of the CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS BALL.

Page 11: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

Every year, young

children are chosen

from among the

residents of Jaro

to dress up and

be part of the

Royal Court

as Princesses

but only one of

them is chosen as

QUEEN.

Page 12: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

This year, I,

Alex Ysabel

was chosen as the QUEENfor the

As Queen,

one of my objectives

during my reign is to

give back to the

community.

Thus, my royal court

is spearheading a

special project for

the pupils of Jaro II

Elementary School

(JES II).

Page 17: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

Why…

JARO IIElementary School

Page 18: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

Jaro II Elementary

School is a public school

with 1,137 pupils.

It is where most of the

poor but intelligent

and talented children

in our hometown go to.

JES II is the alma mater

of my dad and most of

my relatives back in

Iloilo.

Page 19: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

What are …

the NEEDSof the Pupils at JES II

Page 20: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

The school is presently undergoing major

reconstruction because of legal disputes which

led to the decrease in its land area.

Classrooms were abandoned and demolished.

Some were rebuilt by private individuals and

charity groups.

However, as of this time, the

renovations have no provisions for

PLAY AREA.

Page 21: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

In line with this,

we intend to raise funds to build a playground inside the school premises.

We believe that the addition of a

“PLAYSCAPE”will make the school more inviting to pupils and

will provide a space for recreation and fellowship among kids.

Page 22: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

What is the …

Special ProjectLAYSCAPE

Page 23: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

The school has

provided a

small piece of

land for the

play area.

We intend to

transformthis place…

Page 24: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

… into a FUN and EXCITING

“PLAYSCAPE”

Page 25: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

What are the benefits of having a

“Playscape”

“…if there will be one, we

will be very happy

because we don’t have to

go out of the school to

play and have fun.”

Charmaine Jimenez- Grade 4 pupil

Page 26: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

What are the benefits of having a

“Playscape”

“A play area can be our

place to have fun and play

with our friends,

classmates and

schoolmates.”

- Crimson Ray Pacardo- Grade 4 pupil

Page 27: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

What are the benefits of having a

“Playscape”

“A playground, for sure, will give the

opportunity for the pupils to relax and enjoy

by playing on it.

…and I believe that the total development

of a child includes recreation and play”

- Marilyn G. TalloSchool Principal III

how can you

HELP

Page 29: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

We are counting on

donations from

friends to complete the

funding of this project.

Our goal is to raise

Php 350,000.00 to pay for the labor

and materials of

the construction.

Page 30: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

“My whole family, relatives and

friends are working together in

putting up fundraising activities

in order to achieve our goals

before January 2015.”

Page 31: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

For my part, instead of receiving toys and clothes as gifts

for my birthday on November 17,

I wish that my friends and guests will donate something for our

“PLAYSCAPE Project”for the benefit of the pupils in

Jaro II Elementary School.

Page 32: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

“THANK YOU SO MUCH

IN ADVANCE

FOR BEING

SO KIND and

SELFLESS.”

Page 33: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

Time is very important.

We need either your pledge or donation

in order to make the project possible.

Any amount that you will

give will be very much

appreciated.

Page 34: Alex Ysabel's Playscape Project

Creating a safe and modern

playground in Jaro is

a very rare opportunity.

We hope that you will join us

in contributing to this exciting

project that will enhance

the lives of children

forever.
