The presentation of the work reflects the child’s attitude towards work. English 1. Reading Corner 2. Story books to read The more you read the better you get! Over the summer holidays make a time table especially for reading. Make sure you sit down at your reading time, in a quiet place every day. Spend at least 40 minutes just for reading. You can read many different things like; books, magazines, newspapers and leaflets. Remember to log the books you read and make a check list for every book. Write on a piece of paper and stick in your scrap books; Who was your favorite character and why? Retell the story in your own words. What problems did the characters face in the story and how did they solve the problems? What was your favorite part of the story? Did any of the characters do anything wrong? What was the reason for their action? What would you like to ask the characters? Did you like the story or not? Explain why? 5. Word Detective 6. I am an author Whenever you read; you will always find words which you don’t understand. So, jot them down and look them up in the dictionary. If you still don’t understand, try looking for a synonym for that word which may help you. But remember synonyms cannot always replace that word. Nouns, proper nous (always begin with a capital letter), verbs, adverbs, homophones and adjectives. After reading your story, try remembering these words and jot them down. You’ve worked really hard all summer, reading stories and collecting all that fabulous information. So, Let’s put it all to use. You will be an author and write your own story; Think about all the stories you read and look through the things you have gathered in your scrap book for inspiration. Now, sit and think carefully how to begin your story, what could be the middle and then the end. Think about the moral. Present the story as a book with illustrations. Don’t forget to bring your scrap book and story to school. Grade III

Reading is not just about reading books; it’s about being

There are several uses of computers. Computers are also being used for security. Research on how computers

are being used to increase the safety and security. Write the collected information in a Word document.

Format it properly to make your document look good using all the options learnt in the class. Insert pictures

wherever required. Insert header/footer, page numbers etc.

Send your Word document file to [email protected] with your name-class-section in the subject

of email.

Read any five good books of your choice. Highlight and find out the meaning of difficult words while you

are reading also learn imla of these words. The recommended books are:

Have daily reading practice of the chapters and

writing of a few lines from the Arabic book

covered in grade III.

While meeting or on phone try to converse with

your class fellow in Arabic language.

Science

Activity 1: How will you keep your ears, eyes, tongue and heart clean and healthy in your summer

holidays?

Activity 2: Allah swt has beautified our land with different kinds of plants, find and paste as many

different kinds of leaves as you can in your scrap book.

Activity 3: Allah swt has mentioned milk in the Holy Quran. Search for the benefits of milk start

drinking milk at least twice a day. This will make your bones and teeth strong.

Activity 4: Say NO to junk food and add fruits and vegetables in your diet.

Practicing Good Manners

At Home:

Help to keep the house clean especially the areas you use.

Clear the toys, books or crafts that remain after you have

finished. Honesty is the best policy. Tell the truth at all

times.

At The Dining Table:

Say , يِب ٱِب ٱلَّر ۡس َم ٰـ ِب ٱلَّر ِب يِب ,take small bites, eat neatly ِب ۡس

slowly with your mouth closed. Help to clear the table

and clean up. Do not forget to say Alhamdulillah.

Quran

Fix a time for the daily recitation of a portion from the

Quran.

On The Telephone:

If there are no elders around, don’t let the phone ring long,

answer it.

Talk softly when someone is speaking on the phone and

don’t Interrupt.

Hygiene: Remember! cleanliness is half deen

Miswak before every salah.

Trim your nails on Friday.

Do not waste water and electricity.

Keep your surroundings and environment clean. It is bad

habit to throw things out of the window, car or a balcony.

Wudu and Salah

Make sure you do proper wudu and pray all the salahs at

their prescribed timings. Try to pray tarawee during the

month of Ramadan
