“It was such a blessing. I got on my knees and thanked God. I asked for
help and he heard.” - Eliza Lugo, former Emergency Family Assistance client
The Emergency Family Assistance Program helps people who are facing a financial emergency. The crisis generally
involves job loss, medical expenses, major car repairs, a divorce or unexpected expenses due to natural disasters, or
death in the family. Service is by appointment only by calling 2-1-1.
Emergency Family Assistance provides financial assistance with rent/mortgage and/or utilities and a week’s worth of
food. The assistance helps prevent hunger and homelessness and helps families to gain self sufficiency.
Each individual’s needs are assessed and coordinated by a case worker so they can receive emergency
financial assistance, guidance, and support including: referrals, advocacy, food, short-term case management and
benefits screening.
Long-term self-sufficiency is the goal as well as addressing the immediate need for assistance with rent/mortgage/
utility payments to prevent eviction or the disconnection of services. Financial assistance is the most requested
service in the community.
HOW TO HELP:
Host a food drive to keep pantry shelves full
Donate gas gift cards to assist with transportation
Make a financial donation to help a family stay in their home
