TRANSCRIPT
The Checkpoint Charlie Foundation is often asked if we can recommend Berlin schools that would be interested in establishing a
partnership with an American school. We also get the same question from German schools—if we know of any American schools interested in a partnership.
To respond to these inquiries in a more organized way, we have decided to establish a database of schools on both sides of the Atlantic that are interested in establishing a program with a school from the other country.
We need your help to do this!
If you are interested in such a partnership, please complete the form inside this flyer and return it to us by fax, e-mail (as a scan) or snail mail. We will then include your school in the database, and provide you with a code to access the database on our website. You will then be able to use the database to find a potential partner school, which you can then contact directly.
It is our hope that, in this way, we will be able to generate some new initiatives for further German-American exchange and under-standing.
Last but not least, please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions!
All roads lead to Berlin... The Checkpoint Charlie Foundation was founded
in 1994 by the Berlin State Legislature and is a
legal foundation with political rights in the State
of Berlin and subject to its laws. The purpose of
the foundation is to foster German—American
relations with special consideration for the role
that the US played in Berlin between 1945
and 1994.
Since its establishment, the foundation has
planned, supported and implemented over 600
German-American projects, funding them with
more than 1.7 million Euros ($2.1 million).
The foundation has coordinated the largest
German-American teachers' exchange and has
overseen many of Berlin's non-partisan activities
with its sister city Los Angeles. The foundation
has partnered with the American Association of
Teachers of German, establishing the Checkpoint
Charlie Travel Grant to fund study trips to Berlin
and Germany for recipients of the Outstanding
German Educator Award. Following the terrorist
attacks of September 11, the foundation used
more than 1.1. million DM ($700,000) donated by
the German people to establish the City of Berlin
Scholarship for the children of first responders
killed or injured on September 11th.
The foundation is a non-partisan nonprofit
institution and is a recognized charity under
German law. www.cc-stiftung.de
