Our Lady & St Patrick’s

School

On Tuesday 5 July the Central Area schools in Plymouth CAST, as part of the Diocese of Plymouth have arranged an exciting Leavers’ Mass and Prayer Space event at Plymouth Cathedral to help all our Year 6 students mark their transition from primary to secondary school. This year Pope Francis has called for a Year of Mercy, to reflect on God’s mercy to us and to share it with others. We have therefore decided to make our visit a pilgrimage to the Door of Mercy at our Cathedral. There will be five prayer activity zones around the Cathedral and a reconciliation room will be available if children wish to visit this. A number of priests and school chaplains will be available in this room for a chat or to offer

the sacrament of reconciliation. We would like to warmly invite any parishioners, especially those who helped with our Prayer Spaces Week to join us. There are over 350 children involved so it should prove to be a special event. The coach will leave Eastcliff Car Park at 8.30am on Tuesday 5 July and leave Plymouth Cathedral for the return journey around 2.45pm. If you wish to come on the coach with us please telephone the school 01626 773905.

Everybody, Somebody, Nobody, and Anybody Once upon a time there were four parishioners; their names were Everybody, Somebody, Nobody and Anybody. Whenever there was an appeal for volunteers for the Coffee Rota, Everybody was sure that Somebody would volunteer. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did. When Nobody volunteered, Everybody got cross (and thirsty!). Everybody thought Somebody would, but Nobody came forward. So consequently Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done – but didn’t. Do you usually come to 10.30am Mass at OLSP? Can you put teabags in a teapot? Can you pour hot water into a mug?

YOU could be the person we’re looking for! YOU could join the Coffee Rota! If you can answer “yes” to the above, please contact Hilary 01626 360003. Thank you! (P.S. no washing up involved!)

All Saints Lunch Club will meet at Carole’s Cupcakes on Friday 8 July at 12 noon. The menu will be meat or vegetable lasagne, salad and chips followed by fresh cream gateau at a cost of £6.95. All welcome. Please phone Carole Tel 772016 to book a place.

Annual CW Pilgrimage to Buckfast Abbey

Last month CWL members from our Parish joined ladies from other Diocesan CWL Branches to attend the Annual Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Buckfast. (Oil for the votive lamp that burns in the Lady Chapel is provided by the CWL). We were delighted to show off our new banner as we processed into the Abbey, where our Mass was celebrated by Bishop Mark. This was followed by photo-opportunities and of course, a cream tea! Our friendly CWL Section meets on the first Thursday of each month at OLSP at 2pm and/or 7.30pm All ladies welcome, whatever denomination!
