R/. Proclaim the wonders of the Lord
among all the peoples.
O sing a new song to the Lord,
sing to the Lord all the earth.
O sing to the Lord, bless his name.
Proclaim his help day by day,
tell among the nations his glory
and his wonders among all the peoples.
Give the Lord, you families of peoples,
give the Lord glory and power,
give the Lord the glory of his name.
Worship the Lord in his temple.
O earth, tremble before him.
Proclaim to the nations: ‘God is king.’
He will judge the peoples in fairness.

Intercession : Lord hear us Response : Lord graciously hear us.
The doctor told a man waiting in a surgery: ‘I’ve got good news
and bad news. The bad news is that you have an inoperable brain
tumour. The good news is that our hospital has just been awarded
a certificate to perform brain transplants and, by chance, there has
been an accident right out front in which a young couple have been
killed. You can have whichever brain you like. The man’s brain is
£100,000 and the woman’s brain is £30,000.’
The patient said: ‘If you don’t mind me asking, doctor, why is there
such a large difference between the price of a male and female
brain?’
The doctor explained : ‘The female brain is used.’

Having popped into the supermarket to pick up a bag of crisps on
the way to the match, the young man was impatient to get through
the checkout as quickly as possible. He headed for the ten-item
express lane, only to see an elderly woman push in front of him at
the last minute, her trolley piled high with groceries. He was
fuming at the flagrant disregard for the ‘ten-items or less’ rule, but
was left utterly speechless when the cashier beckoned the old lady
forward and asked sweetly: ‘Now, Gladys, which ten items would
you like to buy?’

A Scotsman and his wife were at
an air show. They stood in awe as
the planes looped an dived and
rolled around the sky. Then the
show’s announcer offered a free
ride to anyone who could
experience the aerobatics without
putting up any protest or uttering
so much as a sound while in the
air. That was more than he could
resist. The announcer explained
before take-off: “Remember, if
you or your wife says a word
while you’re up there, it’ll be £10
each.’ And off they flew, looping
and diving and soaring, even
flying upside-down. But not a
word was heard from him.
When the plane landed, the pilot congratulated him. “You have
certainly got guts. I tried every trick in the book and you didn’t
open your mouth.’
“Aye, but for a while there I thought I’d lose my money, when you
did the loop-the-loop and my wife fell out.”

ORDINATION TO THE PERMANENT DIACONATE
In November 2008, Archbishop Peter Smith formally closed down the Parishes of Saint Anne, Basil and Gwladys, David
Lewis, David, Mary and Michael’s, and formed one parish serving the West of Newport, This decision was not taken
lightly as each parish had its own history and identity and thus contributed much to the communities they served. The
practice of the Faith is still active and alive under the banner of All Saints.
I recognise for some it was hard to grasp the birth of All Saints and still is, but spiritually, canonically and financially,
we work together not for any individual community, but for the wider community of All Saints. From the Parish of All
Saints, one of our own has offered himself to serve the Lord, by serving you.
Next Sunday January 24th, Pasquale Cinotti will be ordained to the permanent Diaconate. Like myself, along with
Michael Doyle and John Boye, we do not serve individual Parishes/Communities, but the one UNITED parish of All
Saints, the New and Active face of Catholicism in this part of South Wales.
You are ALL invited to the Ordination at 5pm in St Mary’s Church Followed by tea and cake in the Institute afterwards. The bar will be open.
May Pasquale be blessed by a long and active Ministry.
PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO 6pm MASS SUNDAY JANUARY 24
TH
PRAYER FOR PEACE Lord Jesus Christ, who are called the Prince of Peace, who are yourself our peace and reconciliation, who so often said, "Peace to you," grant us peace. Make all men and women witnesses of truth, justice, and brotherly love. Banish from their hearts whatever might endanger peace. Enlighten our rulers that they may guarantee and defend the great gift of peace. May all peoples on the earth become as brothers and sisters. May longed-for peace blossom forth and reign always over us all. Pope John Paul II
