    My ALPFA Story

When I joined this organization in the Spring of 2009, I didnt know what to expect. After thinking about it and

debating with my friends whether or not to join, I can now happily say that I am glad that they dragged me in.

When I first joined, I wasnt much involved; I was too preoccupied with my grades and my GPA, and Internships

and Leadership programs didnt come knocking on my door. I came at a junction in my road where I had to

    reconsider my strategy.

Having high grades and GPA isnt the only thing that recruiters look for. You need to be involved, you need tobe out there, you have to sell yourself to recruiters, and you have to prove yourself to them that you have wha

it takes to represent their company.

This is where ALPFA FIU comes in. The more one gets involved, the more one reaps the benefits, and duringthe process, new relationships are forged. Most of the friends that I have met, I met through ALPFA FIU, and

what makes it special is that when you join, you become part of a family, a family that helps you make that

transition from a student to a professional.

Since August of last year, I have become a totally different person, and that would not be possible without myALPFA FIU family. I strongly encourage all of you to be involved, to be proactive, and to step out of your

comfort zone, because that is where you realize your true potential.

    Warm Regards,

Antonio BenitezSpring 2011 ALPFA FIU Webmaster
