Today, the basic definition of a Natural or Green Burial, is one that uses only biodegradable materials. A natural burial utilizes simple, sustainable materials such

as pine or wicker caskets, so that nature may take its course following the natural rhythms of life. In a Green Cemetery, burial vaults and embalming are not allowed.

The body can be buried with or without a casket or just in a burial shroud.

Use of our facilities and staff for Funeral or Memorial Service are available at additional costs.

Heritage Life Story Funeral Homes offers several “green” burial options and is one of a select group of

funeral providers approved by the Green Burial Council; a nonprofit organization that encourages the

use of burial as a means of facilitating the restoration, acquisition and stewardship of natural areas. In

many ways, a natural burial can be a much more personal goodbye than we as a society might be used

to. Families often take part in burying their dead or lowering them into the grave. Nothing throughout

the process is considered hands-off or unorthodox.

Basic Services of Funeral Director and Staff $1,900.00

This includes, but is not limited to, 24 hour availability, consultation with family and officiants;

arrangement of funeral, preparation & filing required notices, permits and certificates; and

coordinating with those providing other portions of the service, e.g., the cemetery, crematory, etc.

Also included in this charge are overhead expenses such as insurance, maintenance, utility and

administrative costs. This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of

the funeral arrangements you select. This fee is already included in our charges for direct

cremations and immediate burials.
