On Tuesday of week 10 last term, Alyangula Area School was lucky enough to have Erin Bormann from Tennis Australia come out and organise a competition

Classes from years 3 - 9 competed all day on Tuesday and everyone performed

really well. The overall winner for the day was the SCORPIONS!!!

On the Wednesday, the year 7’s went down and had tennis matches with Angurugu school kids. Some wet weather spoiled the day, but the kids were still able to sneak in a few matches. Erin chose two ‘Best and Fairest’ recipients from Mrs. Copeland’s class and they will be announced at assembly on Friday.

Transitioning into primary school for 2016

Starting school is an exciting but also a potentially stressful time for

children and families alike. It is one of the key transition points during

childhood. All such transitions are known to be times of particular

vulnerability for young children, when earlier developmental and social

progress is placed at risk. A successful transition to school is important

for all children.

This year we hope to create a smooth transition for our new primary school enrolments of

2016.

Please see below our up coming dates for when students will be visiting the Early Years

Transition room. The purpose of these visits is for your child to become familiar with the

surroundings and some of the routines experienced in a classroom. They will also make

relationships with the current transition students which will offer them familiarity and

support during break times for next year.

Parents are not required to attend, however, there is a scheduled Information night that

we strongly recommend all parents attend to receive important information designed to

help alleviate any fears and misconceptions. It will also be a chance to learn what to expect

and how parents, teachers and the school can work as a team to begin your child’s formal

school education. There are two scheduled times to cater for shift workers.
