WALK KANSASWalk Kansas has been something Barton County resi-dents have looked forward to for 17 years. The 2020 Walk Kansas dates have been set for March 15th through May 9th. The biggest change is that the website is being updated. This should help in streamlining our registra-tion of participants. What hasn’t changed is the reason you will want to sign up for Walk Kansas. Teams of six form with a goal to exercise enough minutes collectively to walk across, across and back, or around Kansas. There is also encouragement from the website, weekly newsletters and local Extension Staff to make healthier food choices throughout the 8-week program. Ideally, the exercise/healthy eating program you adopt during the Walk Kansas program will become a habit and ultimately a lifestyle change. The registration deadline to sign up for Walk Kansas is March 9th. The cost to each participant will be $10.00. Some of the registration covers admin-istrative cost at K-State. A Walk Kansas Celebration is set for May 12th from Noon to 1:00 pm at the Great Bend Rec Activity Center located at 2715 18th St. All registered Walk Kansas participants will be treated to a healthy lunch for no charge. Non-Walk Kansas team members may attend for a $5.00 fee payable to the Cottonwood Exten-sion District – Great Bend Office. We ask that you call the Cottonwood Extension District office by Friday, May 8th, to make your reservation for the free luncheon.
