[1] Introduction

1.1 Overview

AM1 STARTER KIT is an introductory starter kit for the FLASH MEMORY version of an 8-bit 1-chip CPU manufactured by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. Both C compiler and source code debugger(DebugFactory Builder) for Windows correspond to the MN101. 1.2 Features

[2] Set up 2.1 How to install DebugFactory Builder

AM1 STARTER KIT includes the debug integrated environment “DebugFactory Builder”.To use this product, start up the installer included in the attached CD-ROM and install the software into your PC. [Install Procedure] (1) Check precautions Read “Precautions and Warranty Policy” of Japanese version (Readme_J.txt) or English version (Readme_E.txt) in the attached CD. There is a possibility that the latest information which is not mentioned in each manual is described in this precaution. (2) Install software Use one of the following files contained on the CD to install the software (Japanese version: DFBuilder101C_SKJ.exe or English version:DFBuilder101C_SKE.exe). Follow the instructions provided in the dialog windows as they appear. Select the product number corresponding to the type of debugger you purchased. Select the folder location (or use the default location of %system%\Panasonic) for the installation and storage of files. [[NNOOTTEE!!]] “%system%“ shows Windows system disc. In the general IBM/PC compatible i386 system,”C:” corresponds to “%system%“. [[NNOOTTEE!!]] Regardless of the type selected at the installation, Installer installs all types of sample projects. STEP2 Read the license agreement carefully. If you accept all terms of the agreement, click on the “Yes(Y)" button.

STEP3 Then type selection display appears. Check the type you purchased and click on the “Next(N)” button.

[[NNOOTTEE!!]] Even if you chose a wrong type or wish to use a different type after installation, reinstallation of DebugFactory Builder is not necessary. Refer to page 9 [2.5 Change the microcontroller type].

STEP4 Select the folder in which the files should be installed. When selecting the default folder, simply click on the "Next(N)" button. When selecting a different folder, click "Browse" and specify the desired path/folder name.

STEP5 Specify the folder name which is to be added to the “program” menu in the Windows start menu. When changing the folder name, input any name to the “Program folder(P)” column. When selecting the default folder, click on the “Next(N)” button.

2.2 Install USB driver

After installing the DebugFactory Builder, connect the AM1 STARTER KIT to the PC with the enclosed USB cable. Windows will then prompt you to install the required driver. Specify the driver as %system%\Panasonic\DebugFactory\Builder\MN101C_SK\Driver\omusbi.inf , or click "Browse" and navigate to the appropriate folder location in which DebugFactory Builder is installed. STEP1 When connecting AM1 STARTER KIT with the PC by the USB cable, the following dialogue appears. Check the “No,not this time” and click on the “Next(N)” button.

STEP2 As specifing the directory path of the driver file, check the “Search for the best driver in these locations (S)” and “Include this location in the serarch (O) box, and click on the “Browse(R)” button to specify the following file. After completing input, click on the “Next (N)” button and then searching the driver will start.

STEP3

When the warning dialogue appears while installing the dirver, click on the “Continue Anyway (C)” button to continue installing.

STEP4

After the driver file is finished coping, the set up finished dialogue will appear, and click on the “Finish” button to end the driver installation.

2.3 Precautions in using WindowsXP SP2

After installing AM1 STARTER KIT in a PC suitable for WindowsXP ServicePack2, WindowsSecurityArart may appear if it is the first start up of “DebugFactoryBuilder for MN101C”. In this case, make sure that “Name” is “DF101C_SK”, and click the “Unlock” button.

2.4 How to Driver uninstall

In order to uninstall the DebugFactory Builder, start the attached installer again, check the “delete” box and execute the uninstallation. In order to delete the USB driver, open the “system” menu of the control panel in the Windows, select the “USB (UniversalSerialBus) controller” in the “device manager” of the hardware tab, and delete AM1 STARTER KIT USB I/F. 2.5 Change the microcontroller type

The microcontroller type, which was selected at the installation, can be changed at any time. To change the microcontroller type, reinstallation or reboot of DebugFactory Builder is not necessary. Start DebugFactory Builder and open the sample project that suits the connecting AM1 STARTER KIT type (Ctrl + O), or create a new project and select the microcontroller type for the connecting AM1 STARTER KIT type in the property window of the project explore. [3] How to use DebugFactory Builder AM1 STARTER KIT includes the debug integrated environment ”DebugFactory Builder for MN101C” as standard equipment. The main functions are the C source code debugger, Source file editor, and C compiler. This integrated environment is the same environment as the MN101C series full ICE and simulator. 3.1 Start-up (Project selection menu)

Start up the DebugFactory Builder by clicking the following menues in order: start menu of Windows> Program> Panasonic DebugFactory> MN101C_SK> Builder. The project selection screen is displayed in the opening of start-up. Confirm that “Open the last project (L)” box is checked, and click the “Run(R)” button.

[[NNOOTTEE!!]] The sample program of the type selected at the installation is registered as the previous project just after installing DebugFactory Builder. 3.2 DebugFactory Builder start-up display

DebugFactory Builder has three main windows: Menu window, Debug window, and Project explorer. At the first start-up, the attached sample project opens. In this condition, DebugFactory Builder has not recognize the AM1 STARTER KIT yet.

3.3 Compile the sample program

The dedicated C compiler for MN101C is attached to AM1 STARTER KIT. As for the use of the C compiler, refer to the attached C compiler manual. Regarding the MN101C, read the attached LSI manual. STEP1 To execute the sample program, compiling is needed because the sample program just after installing is not compiled. To compile the program, select the “Make” menu of the DebugFactory Builder menu bar and execute “Make(M)”.

STEP2 At the first compilation, the alert warning is displayed that the compiler is a trial version after starting up the DebugFactory Builder. Click “OK” and continue compiling.

3.4 Connect AM1 STARTER KIT

DebugFactory Builder is designed as the integrated environment which is able to correspond flexibly to the various debug resources. Therefore, debug target resource portion is separated. STEP1 DebugFactory Builder recognizes the AM1 STARTER KIT by selecting “Debug” of the menu bar and executing “Start debug (CTRL+T)”.

STEP2 After executing the start debug (CTRL+T)” in the “Debug” menu, the dialog message whether the execution file should be loaded appears. Click “Yes (Y)” and load the sample program into the AM1 STARTER KIT. When DebugFactory Builder loads the objects, the objects are written into MN101C built-in flash ROM.

3.5 Execute the sample program

The sample program attached to the AM1 STARTER KIT is executed by clicking “Go(G)” in the “Debug” menu. As for the operation specification of the sample program, refer to “[4] Sample Program”.

[4] Sample Program 4.1 Specification

- The LED connected between P10 and P17 lights sequentially every 0.2 sec. - The LED of the corresponding bit lights when toggle switch connected between P40 and P47 is switched on. - The time period after activation and Copyright are shown at the bottom line of the LCD display panel. - The message “Welcome to MN101C Starter Kit” is shown at the top line of the LCD display panel. - The LCD display is scrolled left every 0.2 sec. - The LCD display panel is scrolled-on and scrolled-off alternatively when IRQ1 button is pressed. - The clock in the LCD display panel is stopped and restarted alternatively when IRQ0 button is pressed. - Interrupt occurs every 1 ms when timer 0 is used for 1 ms timer for waits. - An interrupt occurs every 0.2 s when timer 1 is used for 0.2 s; the timer for the LED and LCD scrolls. - Interrupt occurs every 1 sec when timer 6 is used for 1 sec base timer. - The data input from RXD on serial port 0 enables local echo to TXD (19200bps). - The data input from RXD on serial port 1 enables local echo to TXD (19200bps).

[5] Connection method with CPU BOARD equipped with user target

CPU BOARD can be used as equipped with the user target. Attached DebugFactor Builder for AM1 STARTER KIT can be used by connecting BASE BOARD to the user target with an external CPU BOARD connector of BASE BOARD. [6] Registration Guide

Thank you very much for purchasing AM1 STARTER KIT (this “Product”). OBJECT offers a variety of support to upgrade and maintain the performance of this “Product”. To receive support, you are required to complete your user registration. In this user registration guide, you can learn how to register and what type of support is available.

6.1 How to Register

Visit the following our website and choose “English”, and click "Registration" on the right corner of the page.

- Complete the required fields (product name, serial number, user information) and enter the optional fields (questionnaire about product). If the required fields are not completed, you cannot finish the user registration.

- Product serial number is mentioned on the backside of the board (11-digit number).

- User information means general information such as your name, company name, etc.

- Choose whether to join the mailing list of our technical report community. “I Join” is selected in the default setting. If you would not like to join the mailing list, select “I do NOT Join”.

- Registration process takes few minutes. When the registration has been completed, you will be notified via e-mail.

- After the user registration is completed, you can request a version upgrade of the compiler and technical supports. If you select to join the technical report community, the technical report information is distributed (Past reports are not distributed. If you would like to get the past information, please see “Support” page of our website.

6.2 Compiler Version Upgrade

- For the user who has completed user registration, we offer to upgrade the C-compiler for Panasonic MN101C/MN101D/MN101E which is supplied with this Product. Upgrade is available only once. There is no time limit to execute this upgrade.

- You can upgrade your version by downloading the installation package from the following URL. To download the installation package, user authentication is required. Click “Support” on our top page and visit to the site.

- By downloading installation package from our website you agree to the terms of our software license. Please read it before downloading. Once you agree the software license, go to the version upgrade steps.
