Physical Activity During Lockdown at Cedars15 th June – 19 th June 2020

Keeping physically fit is essential when maintaining a healthy body and mind. Safely exercising, safely being outside and safely playing with others is very important in these unusual times. I’ve found lots of great videos provided by FA coaches. Please find an adult and search ‘FA Learning At Home’ for videos of all the ideas used here.

Mr WatkinsonMonday Bat and Ball Challenge – this can be done inside or outside, by yourself or with a partner, with any bat and ball, or even a book and a

piece of screwed up paper! Check with a grown up before you start. Hit the ball up in the air, try to beat your score, use both hands, alternate forehand and backhand shots. See how well you do and set targets to improve!

Tuesday Dot to Dot – this one is probably best done outside. All you need to do is put 10 markers on the floor and move from dot to dot. You could, jump, skip, hop, step, leap, bear crawl, dance, spin etc. Watch the video to get even more ideas.

Wednesday Reaction Wall – You need paper, a pen and a wall. Write the numbers 1 – 10 on paper and stick them on the wall. Your partner calls out a number and you touch it as quickly as you can. I like starting from a seating position with my back to the wall so I need to spin round, stand up and touch the number on the wall as quickly as possible.

Thursday Horizontal Climbing – You don’t climb up, you climb across the floor. All you need are socks and gloves. Space them out across the floor and climb from one side of the room to the other. To make it more difficult put less socks and gloves down or play it so only feet can step on socks and only hands can go on the gloves.

Friday Treasure Chest – You need two containers. One must be full of household items, the other is empty. Start at the empty container, collect one item from the full box and carry it back to the empty box. You could hop, run or skip to the box. You could even see how quickly you could collect all the objects.Extension: Why not make it a maths lesson, apples are worth 5 points, a packet of crisps is worth 1 point and a pencil is worth 2 points. You must collect 9 points.

Don’t like one of the activities above? This week Mrs Leak found an incredibly good website. https://www.afpe.org.uk/thisispe-supporting-parents-to-teach-pe-at-home/ Please find videos explaining each of the below activities and much more. That’s okay; it’s difficult to suggest activities for pupils from age 3 – 11!There are lots of other great ideas from the 30 previous days below (on our home learning page) try one of those instead.Dear parents,You are now able to access the following website from home:    www.letterjoin.co.uk
