ClimateMany different climate zones. The seasons fall at opposite times of the year from
the northern hemisphere.The summer months are December , January, and
February .June, July, and August are the winter months. The far south has a cool, damp climate.In the north rainfall is heaviest in winter.
CulturesThe culture of Chile is influenced by several other
foreign elements and countries. The main cultures of Chile are Inca, Araucanian
cultures, and Mapuche cultures.
Movement Transportation in Chile is challenging. There are cabs, buses, private cars, vans,
collectivos, trains. In rural areas trains only go through major areas.
Movement of GoodsExport- copper, fruit, fish products, paper, pulp, wine,
and chemicals. Imports- petroleum, chemicals, electronics and
telecom equipment, vehicles, natural gas and industrial machinery.
Importers: United States, China, Brazil, Argentina, South Korea, and Japan.
Exporters: China, United States, Japan, Brazil, South Korea, Netherlands, and Italy.
Human Interaction Deforestation, soil erosion, and air pollution are the
main environmental issues in Chile.There is pollution of water, air, and land. The air pollution is from industry and transportation. Water pollution is acute in urban centers, where the
population has been doubled.
Environment affecting peopleAn earthquake that hit Chile on February 27,2010
affected more than 2 million people. The earthquake had hit central Chile. It is one out of the five most strongest earthquakes
ever that was recorded. The magnitude was 8.8 There was several aftershocks including one that was
a 6.9 One of the largest earthquakes had hit the same area
in 1960, leaving 2 million homeless and killed1655 people.
RegionsThere is 13 different regions in Chile. A couple of the regions are: Valparaiso Region and
Tarapaca Region. Valparaiso Region- Is located in the middle of Chile.
Is mainly featured by mountains and connecting coastal highlands. Has a Mediterranean climate so in the winter it is very rainy and cold in the mountainous area.
Tarapaca Region- Borders Peru and Bolivia to the north and east. The region is based on fishing and fishing processing and the agriculture.
