PANELISTS ON THE DIASL-R: Dr J D Bapat, Ravi Ranade, Satish Marathe, Yusuf Inamadar
The panelists were asked: to define durability, what are the factors affecting durability, how to build durable structures.
DELETERIOUS AGENTSParticipants asked how carbonation, chloride and sulphate attack and alkali silica reaction affect the durability of concrete structures.
PREDICTING LIFE OF STRUCTURES
Participants wanted to know whether it is possible to build concrete structures to survive for 100 years or more and how to predict the life of structures.
NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING (NDT)
Participants were keen to know how accurate are the predictions of strength made by NDT
CHEMICAL ADMIXTURES
Participants wanted to know how chemical admixtures could be effectively utilised to improve the durability of concrete.
DURABILITY
Many were interested to know if there is some factor which is primarily responsible to ensure the durability of structures.
CONSTRUCTION PRACTICESAll panelists stressed the importance of following proper construction practices, such as formwork design, placing, curing, to ensure the durability of structures.
THANKS GIVING BY AMBUJA CEMENT
ONE IMPRESSION
Good Afternoon Sir, It was wonderful evening to participate in "First Panel Discussion on Durability of Concrete Structures" with Ambuja Cement on 28th may 2016 & I am also thankful for Speakers - Dr. J D Bapat Sir, Er. Ravi Ranade sir , Er Satish Marathe sir & Er. Inamdar sir for sharing their valuable technical experience with us .Such seminars enhances our technical skills & knowledge. After attending your seminar, I was really impressed & feeling motivated about points discussed in seminar like site execution , new techniques about concrete. The video of Public safety had awoken mind and body in true sense.I strongly feel such seminars must be made compulsory for every civil engineer working on site to attend ,that will help to make a better INDIA .
Hoping that such seminars will be conducted again .
