hours per week

• This means the avg American will spend years of their lives watching other people live their’s!!

• Modern way to watch TV in on your computer

• Most young people do not own a TV but watch it on the computer

• It is popular for people to say they hate tv but still watch A LOT of TV

• Shows that show how bad people can be– Always

• Popular shows tend to have a lot of sex, violence, or comedy in them (sometimes a mix of all three) – American TV shows have

been known to be very violent by world standards

the past 8 years• Finales are always the

most popular• Talent Shows such as X

factor and American Idol are the most popular shows in the USA now

• Also like to watch “Real” shows such as Jersey shore– Shows where people argue

and throw stuff around.

• The Superbowl is the most televised event in the USA– More than 113 million

• Shows such as Dexter, NCIS, and Bones are very popular in the USA

• Popular music varies greatly in the USA with very different types of music being very popular with certain people

• Pop music tends to be music with a strong singer (very B-E-A-utiful)

• Very simple, catchy songs

• Pop/Rockish groups like Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, and Jason Maraz have always been very popular in the USA since the Beach Boys and the Beatles

• Right now Taylor Swift is the most popular artist in the USA with her new song “Everything has Changed” being # 1.

• Rap Culture has become less popular in recent years but is still very popular

• R&B artist such as Ke$ha and Beyoncé are incredibly popular and probably always will be.

• It is seen to be “uncool” to eat at big companies and restaurants

• Very cool to eat at local, small independent restaurants that offer a unique dining experience

• A large movement in the American pop culture is to eat healthy and “Green”– Food that is friendly to the

environment and natural

• “fast food” is seen to be a unfortunate part of the USA life and something you only eat if there is nothing else to buy.

Starbucks is too popular and that small coffee shops are waay better but regardless of where they drink, they’re drinking coffee!!
