Gallup Poll – Americans Say Noto Gun BansOCT 26, 2011 06:48P.M.
Gallup Poll: Americans Say No to Gun Bans
Second Amendment Foundation Says New Gallup Data Shows
Americans Value Their Gun Rights.
Second Amendment Foundation
BELLEVUE, WA --(Ammoland.com)- Today’s revelation by Gallup
that a record low number of Americans support a legal ban on handgun
possession by private citizens demonstrates a positive change in the
public attitude about personal protection and the Second Amendment,
the Second Amendment Foundation said.
According to Gallup, only 26 percent of Americans favor a handgun ban.
The annual Gallup Crime poll was conducted Oct. 6-9.
“American citizens have become increasingly aware that they
are the true first responders’ when a crime happens in their
presence,” noted SAF Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb.
“The public’s attitude about gun ownership has changed
dramatically in the last decade, and especially since the
Supreme Court’s Heller ruling in 2008 and our victory in the
2010 McDonald ruling, affirming the Second Amendment
protects an individual civil right.
“The public has also realized that all the doom and gloom
rhetoric from gun prohibitionists about more crime and
violence associated with increased gun ownership has been
wrong,” he continued.
“More Americans today own firearms than they did a
generation ago, yet violent crime rates are at their lowest
levels in many years.”
According to Gallup, there is also greater opposition to a ban on
semiautomatic sport-utility rifles, often wrongly identified as “assault
weapons.” Only 43 percent of those polled think these guns should be
banned, down ten percent from the 2001 poll.
Support for stricter gun laws has also declined, with 44 percent believing
laws should be left as they are, and 11 percent favoring less strict laws.
“The pendulum has definitely been swinging in favor of
expanded gun rights,” Gottlieb observed. “For too long,
people were fooled by hysteria and misinformation from gun
prohibitionists and their cheerleaders in the press. But their
alarmist rhetoric has failed the test of time, and now
Americans by greater percentages than we’ve seen in
generations are realizing that gun rights are important, to our
security as a nation and to public safety in our own
neighborhoods.”
The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nation’s oldest
and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action
group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own
and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to
more than 650,000 members and supporters and conducts many
programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of
gun control. In addition to the landmark McDonald v. Chicago Supreme
Court Case, SAF has previously funded successful firearms-related suits
against the cities of Los Angeles; New Haven, CT; New Orleans; Chicago
and San Francisco on behalf of American gun owners, a lawsuit against
the cities suing gun makers and numerous amicus briefs holding the
Second Amendment as an individual right.

2nd Amendment Patriots Keeping Alive What The Framers Of
Our Constitution Envisioned
2ndamendmentpatriots.org
Indianapolis, IN --(Ammoland.com)- Don’t forget the next 2nd
Amendment Patriot meeting is this coming Saturday Oct. 29th.
It’s hard to believe that we are coming up on a full thirteen years since
this movement started.
No one back in January of 1999 could have imagined all the
accomplishments this group of patriotic citizens would be making. I
think back about all of the guests we’ve had over the years including the
Lt. Governor and all the many legislators both federal, state and local.
We have had countless candidates as well for every imaginable race from
local to federal. Then there are all of the many guests over the years that
spoke about so many different topics of interests and had so much
information to share.
It was the 2nd Amendment Patriots that turned out the largest number
of shooters for a single weekend shoot for the Appleseed program of any
state. I think that record still stands.
Along with all that are all the pro gun legislation that the folks of the 2nd
Amendment Patriots assisted in getting passed into law by working with
state legislators. We don’t want to forget the events that made the news,
like the Armed Forces Day and Bill of Rights Day celebrations where we
brought attention to historic days on our calendars that don’t get the
attention they once did.
The number one thing about this group of people is all the friendships
that were made over the years. People who never would have met each
other have made lasting relationships as a result of this movement. It has
also brought about a great deal of inspiration to become involved and to
see what happens when people do STAY UNITED.
I know over the years some have come and some have gone, but for the
most part folks have stayed in for the long haul and new folks have come
on board. We miss the ones who have drifted away, but are encouraged
by the many who still attend the meetings and also the new faces we see
each month.
Anoesis is a word defined as a state of mind consisting of
pure sensation or emotion without cognitive content. That is
a marked characteristic of the liberal sector of society that is
imbedded throughout the population.
Thankfully, we have folks like those within the 2nd Amendment Patriots
that help keep a balance in what the Framers of our Constitution
envisioned.
Thank you very much Patriots. We look forward to seeing you Saturday.
Margie wants me to ask folks to bring their favorite soup (no chili this
time) for the meal and any desserts and soda pops would be most
welcomed.
“The experience of all former ages had shown that of all
human governments, democracy was the most unstable,
fluctuating and short-lived.” John Qunicy Adams

South Dakota Asks Hunters toReport Any Dead DeerOCT 26, 2011 03:40P.M.
South Dakota GFP Asks Hunters and Landowners to Report
Any Deer Found Dead
South Dakota Fish, Game & Parks
PIERRE, S.D. --(Ammoland.com)- The state Game, Fish and Parks
Department has documented a few white-tailed deer found dead across
South Dakota, and early reports point to epizootic hemorrhagic disease
or EHD, which commonly affects white-tailed deer in the fall.
“This is the time of year when we receive these reports, and it
is hard to tell the extent of the impact at this time,” said Steve
Griffin, a GFP wildlife biologist. “The virus is carried by a
biting midge, which can remain prevalent until a hard freeze
kills the midges.”

Department staff are collecting samples from some of the dead deer, and
the samples are being sent to the diagnostics lab at South Dakota State
University, Griffin said.
GFP is currently assessing the status of EHD in the South Dakota deer
herd, he said.
“We have confirmed the disease in central South Dakota, and
the symptoms that our local conservation officers and field
staff are describing sound much like EHD,” Griffin said.
“Although the extent of the disease is unknown at this time, it
appears that the primary counties affected are Sully, Hughes,
Stanley, Jones, Lyman, and Tripp. With the hard freezes last
week, the disease vector was likely eliminated. However, we
may still see deer dying that were infected prior to the frost.”
The virus that causes EHD gives deer a high fever, and they will appear
to be in a daze. If the disease hits them hard, they can die in 1-3 days.
The dead deer are often found near low-lying areas or in areas where
they can cool off in a river or pond. They are usually too weak to leave
those wet areas, and die there.
EHD outbreaks can be locally severe, but rarely affect more than 25
percent of a deer population. In rare cases, up to 50 percent of deer may
be stricken.
Those who see deer that appear dazed, or find a number of dead deer,
are asked to contact local conservation officers or call the Pierre GFP
office at 605-773-3718.

Michigan Teacher Wins 2011 NWTF Educator of the Year
Award
Janine Kopera works on NWTF education box material with one of her
students.
National Wild Turkey Federation
EDGEFIELD, S.C. --(Ammoland.com)- Third-grade teacher Janine
Kopera was merely looking for some lesson ideas to tie in with
Thanksgiving when she stumbled upon the NWTF’s web site.
Eight years later, the Melvindale, Mich., teacher is renowned for
successfully teaching her suburban students about conservation through
an educational unit she built around the NWTF’s Wild About Turkey
Education Box.
In recognition of her efforts, the NWTF selected Kopera as the NWTF’s
2011 Educator of the Year. Kopera also won the NWTF’s Educator of the
Year Award for Michigan. She is a former Wayne County Elementary
Teacher of the Year.
“This whole unit has really opened the children’s eyes,”
Kopera said. “They learn how people can have a positive
effect on nature.”
Kopera will receive a $1,000 grant from the NWTF and will be honored

at the NWTF’s annual convention in February in Nashville, Tenn. With
the grant money she plans to spend to fund a conservation field trip and
purchase conservation field investigation equipment to meet curriculum
requirements.
“Receiving this great award is just icing on the cake,” said
Kopera, who teaches at Allendale Elementary School in a
school district just outside the city limits of Detroit. “I already
had a reward by using the unit.”
Utilizing fun elements such as turkey feather bookmarks and rulers in
the Wild About Turkey Education Box – a replica of an actual wild turkey
transport box – Kopera has sparked enthusiasm and awareness among
many children who had never been exposed to conservation and the
outdoors. Most of the 32,000 NWTF education boxes distributed
nationwide are donated by local NWTF chapters. Kopera’s box was
donated by the Huron Valley Chapter, the NWTF’s first in Michigan.
Kopera also has coordinated visits by NWTF Huron Valley Chapter
members, who dressed in turkey hunting clothes and gave the students
the opportunity to use turkey calls and other gear.
After discovering the Wild About Turkey Education Box on the NWTF
website, Kopera found another important resource in Melvindale-
Northern Allen Park Superintendent of Schools Cora Kelly, an NWTF
member.
“The kids really enjoy the education box, and they come
home with great stories,” Kelly said. “Janine has been a
fantastic teacher. She took the ball and ran with it.”
The Wild About Turkey Education Box, full of activities and
educational tools correlated to national education standards
for kindergarten through 12th grade, includes:
• colorful bulletin board display
• DVD of wild turkey history, communication and habitat videos
• wild turkey habitat and anatomy posters
• 30 pencils, rulers and turkey feather bookmarks for students
• multimedia CD-CD-Rom with turkey sounds and printable
resources
• K-12 curriculum and activity guide
• Scaled-down trap and transfer box
More than 32,000 education boxes have been distributed nationwide,
most donated by local NWTF chapters to schools, parks, visitor centers
and museums as well as through educator training workshops.
Education boxes are available for $50 online, plus shipping. Refill kits
cost $50, plus shipping. Boxes also can be purchased by calling (800)
THE-NWTF or (803) 637-3106 and asking for the sales department.
About the NWTF:
The NWTF is the leader in upland wildlife habitat conservation in North
America. A nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving the wild
turkey and preserving our hunting heritage, the NWTF and its volunteers
work closely with state, federal and provincial wildlife agencies and other
partners.
Through these dynamic partnerships, the NWTF and its members helped
restore wild turkey populations throughout North America, spending
more than $372 million to conserve 17 million acres of habitat. Wild
turkeys and hundreds of other species of upland wildlife, including quail,
deer, grouse, pheasant and songbirds, benefit from this improved
habitat.
The NWTF also brings new conservationists and hunters into the fold
through outdoor education events and its Women in the Outdoors,
Wheelin’ Sportsmen, JAKES and Xtreme JAKES youth outreach
programs. Dedicated NWTF volunteers introduce about 100,000 people
to the outdoors through these programs every year.
Founded in 1973, the NWTF is headquartered in Edgefield, S.C., and has
local chapters in every state and Canada. According to many state and
federal agencies, the restoration of the wild turkey is arguably the
greatest conservation success story in North America’s wildlife history.

Global Warming ObituaryOCT 26, 2011 12:10P.M.
Global Warming Obituary – Good Riddance
By Alan Caruba
AmmoLand Gun News
USA--(Ammoland.com)- I used to write obituaries when I was a young
journalist and I daresay they are one of the best read sections of any
newspaper.
We have arrived at a time when the obituaries for global warming (now
falsely called climate change) are increasing.
The October 25th edition of The Wall Street Journal sports an editorial
titled “The Post-Global Warming World” commenting on the fact that
the 17th annual United Nations-sponsored climate change conference in
November is likely to be an even greater flop than recent ones. Few, if
any, nations will sign on to the huge hoax of reducing carbon dioxide
(CO2) to save the world from burning to a crisp.
Considering the long years of media-driven drivel about global warming,
the hoax should have been over by now, given the exposure in 2009 of
thousands of emails between the UN Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change (IPCC) conspirators and growing body of evidence that
everything they asserted was a great steaming pile of horse manure.
If there was ever a reason for the U.S. to stop funding the
U.N., this is it.
I have predicted the death of global warming several times, but like a
Hollywood zombie global warming is kept alive by its massive
propaganda machine and useful idiots in the media.
Since the late 1980s The New York Times has engaged in the most horrid
effort to convince its readers and the world that the IPCC should be
taken seriously even though its successive reports have proven to be an
offense to real science and the truth. No opportunity was ignored to
advance the hoax even in the face of incontrovertible facts of every
description.
Global warming has become a green religion to be taken on faith, but its
claim to legitimacy was the “science” it put forth. That science began to
come into question when a natural cooling cycle began in 1998. Glaciers
began to noticeably grow along with the ice shelves of the Arctic and
Antarctica. Snow arrived earlier and in greater abundance than previous
decades.
Global tropical cyclone activity has been at historic lows and the
frequency of U.S. hurricanes has declined. The latest, Irene, was rapidly
downgraded to a tropical depression by the time it made landfall.
So, naturally, when Elisabeth Rosenthal, a blogger on “Green” topics for
The New York Times wondered out loud “Where Did Global Warming
Go?” I was curious to know her answer. Turns out that, despite being
heralded on the covers of Newsweek, Time, The Economist, and
countless other “news” magazines, in TV documentaries, et cetera, it
hasn’t gone anywhere
After lamenting that, since his visit to the 2009 Copenhagen UN
conference on climate change, President Obama has failed to mention
global warming every day, Rosenthal wrote “But two years later, now
that nearly every other nation accepts climate change as a pressing
problem, America has turned agnostic on the issue.”
No, nearly every other nation has concluded it was a massive and very
expensive fraud. That is why the forthcoming UN conference is going to
implode. Policy makers are trying to extricate themselves from the
useless solar and wind projects to which billions were committed. As
soon as Obama is out of office and the Environmental Protection Agency
is scaled back to its original 1970 objectives we can begin to attend to the
rebuilding of the nation’s economy.
Note Rosenthal’s use of the term “climate change” rather than “global

9
warming.” Note, too, that the 2009 Copenhagen conference was a huge
failure with none of the nations in attendance agreeing to do much more
than get together again, preferably in Cancun, Mexico, 2010, where the
weather, unlike Copenhagen’s was not at risk of the huge blizzard that
forced Obama to leave early lest he be trapped there until the snow
melted.
“Though the evidence of climate change has, if anything,
solidified,” Ms. Rosenthal lamented that “Mr. Obama now
talks about ‘green jobs’ mostly as a strategy for improving the
economy, but not the planet.”
People who worry about “the planet” and not about real problems such
as how to feed seven billion of its human inhabitants or how to provide
enough electricity to keep the lights on in the world’s cities or who think
“improving the economy” is a poor choice to make when more than 14
million Americans are out of work are seriously out of touch with reality.
“He did not mention climate in his last State of the Union address,” said
Rosenthal, pouting over something about which neither Obama, nor
anyone else on planet Earth can do anything except to clean up the mess
left behind by hurricanes, floods, and other forces of nature..
The climate, measured in hundreds of years, as opposed to the weather
which is unpredictable more than a week from now, is the result of the
activity of the Sun, the oceans, volcanoes, clouds, and cosmic rays. It is
determined by the immutable laws of physics.
“The fading of global warming from the political agenda is a mostly
American phenomenon,” wrote Rosenthal, apparently unaware that the
European Union is about to collapse because several of its member
nations are so deeply in debt that makes the U.S. look like a paragon of
prudent fiscal policy. Rosenthal appears to be unaware of the rapid
political changes occurring across the northern tier of African nations
called the Maghreb and elsewhere throughout the Middle East.
Like the urchins “occupying Wall Street”, Rosenthal chides Americans
who “prefer bigger cars and bigger homes. We value personal freedom,
are suspicious of scientists, and tend to distrust the kind of sweeping
government intervention required to confront rising greenhouse gas
emissions.”
Since when is valuing personal freedoms, many of which are protected
by the Constitution, and being suspicious of those scientists who have
been claiming we’re all going to die, or questioning sweeping
government intervention anything other than a deeply embedded
American tradition and a very good idea under any circumstance?
For the past six years, the Heartland Institute has sponsored
International Climate Change Conferences, the last in Washington, D.C.,
June 30-July 1. Haven’t heard about them? Maybe that’s because the
mainstream media has gone out of its way to ignore them. The
conferences, however, have contributed to the growing body of
knowledge disputing global warming to the point where, even in the
nation’s capitol, the topic has become little more than the slow revelation
of the utter mendacity of the hoax and its perpetrators.
Where has global warming gone? Onto the ash heap of the
history of the last twenty-plus years of bad policies, wasted
billions of the public treasure, and all of it driven by the UN’s
mendacious “science.”

Police Power Grab Assembly Bill 237 – Read Wisconsin Carry
Letter to the State Legislature
Wisconsin Carry
Wisconsin --(Ammoland.com)- The following letter was submitted to
the state legislature this morning regarding Assembly Bill 237 which
would grant police new statutory authority to arrest citizens for civil
forfeiture violations (dog at large, fireworks violations, sending
unsolicited fax) and hundreds of other minor infractions which currently
police many not arrest for, only issue a citation.

Please share this letter with your state representatives and senators.
Last night Representative Farrow REMOVED himself as a co-author of
the bill thanks to the efforts of our members who contacted him. Please
contact your reps and senators, share this letter, and ask them to
REJECT Assembly bill 237.

——————–
Dear Rep. Bies, Assembly rules committee, Assembly
Criminal Justice Committee, et al,
On October 5th of this year a letter was submitted by Asst.
Police Chief Dean J. Collins who is championing a request
for the legislature to change state law with regard to
forfeiture violations.
Currently there are violations which the state legislature felt
were not serious enough offenses to warrant potential
incarceration. Those violations are punishable only by civil
forfeiture (fine).
Wisconsin Carry is mindful that the legislature is faced with
a diverse assortment of requests for potential new
legislation. We are also aware that, unfortunately, it is
nearly impossible for you to become an expert in each piece
of legislation that you will evaluate and vote for in your
capacity as a legislator. For that reason you rely on what
you hope to be the honest and truthful input from your
constituencies.
The purpose of this letter is to bring to your attention some
glaring and significant misrepresentation of fact that we
have become aware of which occurred in both the letter
submitted to the Criminal Justice Committee on October 5th,
as well as the testimony given by Brookfield Asst. Police
Chief Dean J. Collins on October 24th.
A copy of the letter is available here:
http://legis.wisconsin.gov/lc/comtmats/files/ab0237_20111019134400.pdf
A link to the video testimony is available here: (note Chief Collins
testimony begins at approximately the 54 minute mark)
http://www.wiseye.org/videoplayer/vp.html?sid=7103
In the letter and video testimony, Asst. Chief Collins suggests that this
legislation is necessary to protect municipalities from lawsuit for
unlawful arrest. Mr. Collins uses a lawsuit that Wisconsin Carry filed
against the City of Brookfield and some of its police officers as evidence
that this legislation is necessary. It is important for the committee and
legislature to be aware that the primary reason Brookfield was sued was
because their officers initiated a felony stop with guns drawn against,
made an unlawful arrest of, unlawfully searched a vehicle of, and
unlawfully seized property of, one of our members *without probable
cause* nor *reasonable suspicion* that she had committed any crime
OR violation of any statute.
Let me be perfectly clear. Brookfield was not primarily sued because they
lacked the statutory authority to arrest for unlawful transport.
Brookfield was sued because they had no probable cause or reasonable
suspicion to detain or arrest our member for any reason at the time they
initiated the felony stop against her. Brookfield officers violated our
members 14th amendment due process rights which incorporate the 4th
amendment rights to be free from unlawful search and seizure. If you
pass this law, Brookfield would still have faced a nearly identical lawsuit
and the outcome would have been identical.
Changing this law vastly expands police authority, but it *will not*
protect Brookfield or any other municipality from the very same
litigation that they faced and that other departments who violate the civil
rights of our members will face in the future. It is our hope that we never
have to file another lawsuit. This will be possible if police departments
around the state train their officers to understand the basic concepts of
reasonable suspicion and probable cause before detaining or arresting
people. AB 237 will have the opposite affect. It will perpetuate a false
belief that police can arrest anyone, at any time. Ironically, Wisconsin
Carry believes that despite the months that have passed for Brookfield to
conduct a full review of their procedures, Asst. Chief Collins testimony
and his misconceptions about why his department was sued make a
convincing argument that the people of Wisconsin need MORE
legislative protections from law enforcement personnel who fail to grasp
the basic US Constitutional rights that his officers violated in this
situation, not less protections. When civil rights are violated, the
solution ought not to be to request new legislation to expand police
power and erode citizen’s rights so they cannot be violated, but rather to
end the practice of violation of people’s civil rights.
Furthermore, in the video testimony from Asst. Chief Collins he makes
the statement that if the legislature does not pass this bill there will be
“nothing the police can do” to enforce civil forfeitures. This is also
categorically false. Police will continue to be able to issue citations for
fines in these situations. If those fines go unpaid, courts can and will
continue to issue bench warrants for the arrest of the persons who do not
pay their civil forfeiture. This procedure has worked very well
throughout the history of our state.
It is intellectually dishonest for Asst. Chief Collins to
misrepresent this truth to the Criminal Justice Committee in
his testimony.
State civil forfeiture violations are things the legislature felt were not
serious enough violations to be punishable by jail, rather only monetary
penalty. Therefore the authority to arrest a person for those very same
violations was not appropriate. If the legislature now believes that there

are some violations that are currently only civil forfeitures that the
legislature believes *should* be punishable by greater penalties than we
would encourage the legislature to address those individually and make
those specific violations crimes so that law enforcement can exercise the
statutory authority to arrest that already exists under state law, and NOT
create new legislation that gives the police blanket authority to arrest
citizens for violations so simple as “dog at large” “sending an unsolicited
fax” or “fireworks violations” just to name a few.
We recognize the police would surely like to have the power to arrest
anyone at any time for any violation no matter how minor, but we believe
that a *critical* role of government has always been to limit the authority
of law enforcement to a specifically defined set of parameters and thus
protect the civil rights of citizens and provide protection from an over-
reach of authority and prevent a move toward a police state.
Thank-you for your thoughtful consideration. On behalf of the
Wisconsin Carry, Inc. Board of Directors and our membership in the
State of Wisconsin, we urge you to reject Assembly Bill 237.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife ServiceSeeks Proposals from States forFY 2012 Endangered SpeciesGrantsOCT 26, 2011 11:05A.M.
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Seeks Proposals from States for
FY 2012 Endangered Species Grants
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service (Service) is seeking proposals from states and U.S. territories
interested in obtaining federal financial assistance to acquire land or
conduct planning efforts for endangered species conservation.
For fiscal year (FY) 2012, the President’s budget request for the
Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund includes $100
million in grant funding for conservation activities benefitting federally
protected species.
The Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund (CESCF) is
authorized under Section 6 of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and
provides grants to states and territories to support participation in a
wide array of voluntary conservation projects for species on the federal
list of threatened and endangered species, as well as for species that are
either candidates or have been proposed for listing. These projects range
from species status surveys, captive propagation, and public education to
habitat acquisition, restoration, and the development of conservation
plans.
“These grants provide critical funding for state and territory
conservation efforts for threatened and endangered species,”
said Director Dan Ashe. “By supporting states and territories,
the federal funds continue the Endangered Species Act’s long
legacy of protecting healthy, thriving ecosystems for
generations to come.”
The Service is seeking proposals under the following three
CESCF categories:
• Recovery Land Acquisition Grants: These grants provide
funds for the acquisition of threatened and endangered species
habitat in support of approved and draft species recovery plans.
Acquiring habitat in order to secure long-term protection is often
the critical element in a comprehensive recovery effort for a listed
species. Last year, $449,540 was awarded to the State of Colorado
for the 15,000-acre Turtle Ranch Conservation Easement Project.
Securing this easement will initiate black-footed ferret
reintroduction on the parcel and will serve as a model of incentive-
based conservation, highlighting how both endangered species
management and an active and profitable agricultural operation
can coexist.
• Habitat Conservation Planning Assistance Grants: These
grants provide funds to support the development of Habitat
Conservation Plans (HCPs). The purpose of an HCP is to ensure
adequate protection of suitable habitat for threatened and
endangered species, while at the same time providing for economic
growth and development. The State of Hawaii was awarded
$259,281 last year to fund the coordination and planning of the
Kaua’i Seabird HCP to benefit the federally listed Hawaiian hoary
bat, Hawaiian petrel, and Newell’s shearwater, as well as
approximately 18 listed plant species.
• HCP Land Acquisition Grants: These grants provide funds to
states and territories to acquire habitat land for threatened and
endangered species associated with approved HCPs. Over $1.1
million was awarded last year to the State of Texas for acquisition
of the 67-acre Cobb Cavern tract in Williamson County. The parcel
will be added to a preserve to benefit the listed Coffin Cave mold
beetle and Bone Cave harvestman.

By law, the state or territory must have a current cooperative agreement
with the Secretary of the Interior and contribute at least 25 percent of the
total project costs, or ten percent when two or more states or territories
undertake a joint project. Proposals must be submitted to the
appropriate Service regional offices by January 27, 2012.
For more information about these grants and the application
requirements contact: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Division of
Consultation, HCPs, Recovery, and State Grants, 4401 N. Fairfax Drive,
Room 420, Arlington, VA 22203, 703-358-2171. The Cooperative
Endangered Species Conservation Fund is identified in the Catalog of
Federal Domestic Assistance as number 15.615.
The ESA provides a critical safety net for America’s native fish, wildlife,
and plants. The Service is working to actively engage conservation
partners and the public in the search for improved and innovative ways
to conserve and recover imperiled species. To learn more about the
grants, visit the Endangered Species Program online at:

TV and visiting the GlobalOutfitters.com website.
Sam Hall, CEO of Global Outfitters, states it best, “There are
hundreds of people in the U.S. who do not have a favorite
uncle who is a master hunter, angler or outdoor chef. In
short, they have no one to teach them outdoors skills.
There are hundreds of youngsters who have no one
experienced in woodsmanship to mentor them in outdoor
education. There are hundreds of men and women who have
some level of outdoor skills, but want somewhere to go to
advance their skill level. Global Outfitters designed its TV
show and website for these three groups of people.
Not only does Global Outfitters TV and website teach outdoor
skills, but we are the link between adventure outfitters and
the outdoor enthusiast. We are a full-service outdoor
network.”
Global Outfitters TV airs on the Pursuit Channel to all Direct TV and
Dish Network subscribers Friday nights at 8 p.m. EST and Tuesday
mornings at 7:30 a.m. EST. It brings solid outdoor instruction from
industry professionals on such skills as archery, dog training, shooting,
hunting, fishing, game calling, wildlife habitat and more. Also, the fast-
moving programming connects outdoor enthusiasts to featured
professional outfitters who can provide a fun place to go to use their
outdoor skills. According to Hall, “This is a first-ever television
connection of the end user with the recreation provider — a win-win for
both.”

Operation Campus SafetyComes to Virginia TechOCT 26, 2011 10:39A.M.
Operation Campus Safety Comes to Virginia Tech
Virginia Citizens Defense League
Covington VA --(Ammoland.com)- Finally – we have a date and time
for Operation Campus Safety at Virginia Tech!
**Mark your calendars, this is going to be big and you’re
going to want to be part of it!**
We have approval for the protest from 8 AM to 4 PM on Thursday,
November 17th. While some of us will be there early, the main protest
will start at 11:30 AM and run until 4 PM. Speakers will start at 12 Noon
and continue until 1:30 PM. We will need lots of people to carry signs,
pass out literature, and answer questions.
This should be an excellent day to be on campus as it is a game day (UNC
vs VT), allowing us maximum visibility. We are also looking at having a
presence in nearby Blacksburg.
The protest will be held in front of the Squires Student Center (College
Ave./Otey Street side), not far from the town of Blacksburg or the VT
Drillfield.
More details will follow, including parking information and possible
carpooling from area localities.
A very special thanks to Eric Smith, President of the Libertarians at
Virginia Tech. The Libertarians are hosting the protest and Eric is
working hard to make the protest a success, patiently working his way
through the VT bureaucracy to get the event approved.
Another powerful force in bringing everything together is John Wilburn,
a VT alumni. He has been doing all kinds of coordination behind the
scenes and he, too, has made it a personal mission to make the protest a
huge success.
This is a mission to save lives and that drives both Eric and John, just
like it drives all of VCDL’s membership.
There is no way this would have come together so well without Eric and
John!
Oh, and as if John isn’t doing enough already, besides running his own
business (Hokie Real Estate, Inc.), he is a firearms instructor and will be
giving away free CHP classes to two lucky attendees!
Thanks also to EMs Dave Hicks and Dave Knight, who are helping with
both the VT and the Radford protests.
Radford and JMU students – come to Virginia Tech on November 17th
and stand with Virginia Tech students in support of freedom and liberty.
VCDL will ask the VT students to do the same when we announce the
Radford and JMU protests in the near future.
Wild horses couldn’t keep me away – see you there!
No guns? NO FUNDS! (Remember: Donations for Virginia
Tech can be sent to Blue Ridge Community College instead. )

Garner Postpones Action Until After Election.
Grass Roots North Carolina for Firearms Education
North Carolina --(Ammoland.com)- Did you hear the one about the
city council that refused to take a stand on an abridgment of your rights
and put off the vote until after the next election?
Well, we wish we were telling you a joke, but unfortunately this is all too
serious. The city of Garner is planning to do just this under the guise of
studying the issue.
Strangely enough the study period seems to end after the upcoming
election; because a future meeting afterward is when they plan the vote
on their ordinance which will attempt a flanking movement on the new
law allowing concealed carry in parks.
With that in mind, it is imperative that you force them to take a position
so their constituents may vote accordingly. Sending those planning to
vote for this anti-freedom ordinance will have a chilling effect on others
thinking of doing likewise.

Deliver the message below:
Dear Council Member:
It is time to take a stand one way or the other. I wish you to
respect my right to self protection in parks as well as other
places. Now it is time to let everyone know where you stand.
Not after the election. Such political tricks will not be
allowed. If you are comfortable and unashamed with your
position, then go public with it.
I hope that you will respect my right to self protection in
what are often dangerous locations, but equally important is
that you must let me know if you respect my rights on this
matter. I will be monitoring your actions via Grass Roots
North Carolina legislative alerts.
Respectfully,
About:

Delaware Conservation PosterContest Nov. 4 Deadline NearsOCT 26, 2011 09:57A.M.
Delaware Conservation Poster Contest Nov. 4 Deadline Nears
Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife
Delaware --(Ammoland.com)- The deadline for the annual
conservation poster contest sponsored by the Sussex, Kent and New
Castle Conservation Districts is fast approaching on Friday, Nov. 4.
The theme this year is “Forests for People: More Than You Can
Imagine!” Posters will be judged in the following grade categories: K-1,
2-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. First, second and third place winners in each
category will receive a prize valued at $50, $25 and $15 respectively.
The annual conservation poster contest provides kindergarten through
12th grade students an opportunity to convey their thoughts about soil,
water and related natural resource issues through art. It also highlights
the educational outreach efforts of conservation districts and their state
associations, auxiliaries and agencies. The contest follows the annual
Stewardship theme which is sponsored by the National Association of
Conservation Districts.
This year’s theme, “Forests for People: More Than You Can Imagine,”
reminds us that we all have a connection to the trees in the forest.
Forests play a critical role in providing clean water and healthy wildlife
habitat, as well as jobs for our citizens and products that we use every
day. Forests also offer us a place to take a peaceful walk or pitch a tent or
hold a picnic. And they provide children with the perfect atmosphere to
learn about the great outdoors.
For more information and educational resources about the theme, please
visit
http://www.nacdnet.org/education/contests/poster/2011/rules_and_resources.html.
Each of the conservation districts will submit their first place posters in
each category for judging at the state level. State level winners will then
be submitted to the national contest. Last year, the winning Delaware
poster for the 10-12 category went on to win first place in the 10-12
category in the national contest. In the event that an insufficient amount
of posters are received, the county level contests will be eliminated and
all posters will be judged at the state level.
The name of the student, teacher, school and student’s grade level must
be written on the back of the poster. Posters must be hand-delivered or
mailed flat in time to meet the deadline to the conservation district in the
county in which the student resides.
Addresses for Delaware’s conservation district offices are as follows: New
Castle Conservation District, 2430 Old County Road, Newark, DE 19702;
Kent Conservation District, 800 Bay Road, Suite 2, Dover, DE 19901;
and Sussex Conservation District, 21315 Berlin Road, Unit 4,
Georgetown, DE 19947.

Busted For Gun Smuggling
CCRKBA.org
BELLEVUE, WA – -(Ammoland.com)- While Michael Bloomberg has
been running around blaming gun laws in other states for his city’s crime
problems, eight New York City police officers were allegedly involved in a
gun smuggling operation “right under his nose,” the Citizens Committee
for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.
Reuters reported that eight officers have been charged in connection
with the case. All were working in Brooklyn, and according to the District

Attorney’s office, they “exploited their experience and credentials to
assist in a variety of schemes involving the illegal interstate
transportation…” of guns, cigarettes, counterfeit goods and slot
machines, the news agency said.
“If I were a member of Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal
Guns,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, “I’d say it was
time for Bloomberg to mind his own business. While he was
busily suing legitimate gun dealers all over the country and
going on television to brag about it, he should have been
paying closer attention to what was happening in his own
back yard. After all, it was his city employees that have been
charged in this illegal gun trafficking scheme.”
Gottlieb said Tuesday’s revelation clearly underscores what is wrong
with Mayor Bloomberg’s relentless campaign to “erode gun rights
through the demagoguery of public office.”
“Bloomberg’s fiasco is steeped in irony,” Gottlieb continued,
“because this New York gun trafficking operation was
happening right under the mayor’s nose, and he didn’t even
know about it. He was paying too much attention to telling
everyone else what was wrong with their gun laws, when he
couldn’t even keep his own cops from breaking the gun laws
he thinks should be used as a model all over the country
“It may be time for Bloomberg to stop looking everywhere
else for gun trafficking activity and focus his attention closer
to home,” he observed. “It’s pretty hard to accuse citizens in
other states of feeding New York’s illegal gun trade when
some of Bloomberg’s own cops appear to be up to their
badges in it.”
With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the
Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the
nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization,
the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms
through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots
organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the
United States. The Citizens Committee can be reached by phone at (425)
