THE CELEBRATION The culmination of the “Ararat” Community Tennis Tournament is its Award Ceremony that takes place a few weeks after the tournament, within the Ararat sport facility. Alex was awarded Glendale’s best tennis player in our medal ceremony. He attended Glendale Community College from 2010-11. He finished the season as the

# 1-ranked junior college player in California by the ITA ... Went a perfect 35-0 and was crowned the state champion ... Earned a spot on the 2011 ITA Collegiate All-Star Team ... Alex enrolled at Pepperdine in January of 2012. In the NCAA Singles Championship this year, Alex won the second-round matches while playing indoors due to rain, sending Waves into the third round for the first time since the 2008 season. By virtue of making the round of 16, Sarkissian secured ITA All-American honors.

With 12 years of community volunteer’s support and consistency , the ACTT has become a great asset to the progress of Glendale Tennis. Community coaches are a big part of this. We encourage all coaches to participate in this event by signing up all their students, regardless of their level of play. We are convinced that Glendale’s Board Of Education truly appreciates the level of participation our community activities have reached and will step up as always to cooperate and support our effort for years to come.

COMMUNITY WELLNESS CENTER

In 2010, Homenetmen Glendale launched a program called Optimal Health Community Wellness Center, which provides health and fitness classes to people of all ages. The group fitness classes, divided into 6-week increments, include cardio, gentle stretching, and muscle sculpting exercises, as well as health education.

GLENDALE FRIENDSHIP GAMES The Ararat chapter organizes the annual Glendale Friendship Games during which Homenetmen athletes compete against other teams from Glendale and neighboring communities. The games take place at the end of October and involve competitions in soccer, basketball, volleyball, table tennis and tennis. In the past, along with Ararat athletes, teams from high schools, the American Youth Soccer Organization and also teams composed of Glendale police officers, fire fighters and other city employees have participated in these games

VOLUNTEERS For those of you who are new to this tournament & Glendale Ararat chapter in general, you should know, that there are many volunteers, that are critical to make this type of events work. Ararat Community Tennis Tournament is the largest community tennis event & due to its consistency, community support, & most importantly volunteers, has become a great asset to the progress of Glendale tennis. The focus of Homenetmen Glendale "Ararat" Chapter's Tennis Program is to expand, encourage and involve children and young people in sport of tennis, providing them with the opportunity to have discipline, commitment, fitness, personal and social development. Our goal is to ensure that all our members have a positive and enjoyable introduction to tennis. Such constructive approach will extend the 0pportunity to our members to continue their interest in playing tennis throughout their lives. The year-round programs at the Ararat Chapter include scouting, gymnastics, soccer, basketball, volleyball, ping ong, tennis, martial arts and a choir.
