HISTORYSince 2003, Meds & Food for Kids has saved the lives of over 24,000 children through the production and distribution of Medika Mamba (“peanut butter medicine” in Creole), an enriched peanut paste globally recognized as the most effective treatment for childhood malnutrition. By making our products and purchasing materials in Haiti, MFK also provides much needed stimulus to local markets and economies to help stop the cycle of poverty that causes the disease in the first place.
MISSION STATEMENTMeds & Food for Kids (MFK) is dedicated to preventing and treating malnutrition in Haiti by producing and distributing nutritious Ready-to-Use Foods. By locating production in Haiti, using Haitian labor, and, where possible, Haitian ingredients, MFK also addresses some of the root causes of malnutrition - unemployment and poverty - by creating jobs, training professionals and sponsoring long-term agricultural development.
MFK becomes the 13th member of Nutriset’s Plumpyfield Network, a group of independent producers of ready-to-use foods throughout the developing world.
OCTOBERMFK purchases land in Cap Haitian for its new factory.
JUNEMFK’s capital campaign reaches the halfway mark of $1.5 million towards the goal of $3 million for a new factory in Haiti.
DECEMBERThe World Bank extends funding for one year to MFK’s malnutrition programs in Cap Haitian and creates a new site in Port-au-Prince.
MARCHMFK participates in earthquake relief by distributing over 20,000 kg of Medika Mamba to over 10,000 children and adults in need of nutritional support.

PROGRAMS & SERVICESMeds & Food for Kids manufactures Medika Mamba in its Cap Haitian facility. We distribute our product to partner organizations throughout the country who run the clinics, hospitals, and orphanages that provide direct care to malnourished children. Medika Mamba is always distributed for free to the families in need. MFK also works alongside Haitian peanut farmers to help increase the quantity and improve the quality of their yields. We offer advice, training, and needed inputs like seeds and fertilizer. Our activities are guided by peanut experts from the University of Georgia and other American universities.
